We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our newly established Health Team. This specialist role will enhance our current provision and improve the quality and breadth of mental health support available to young people. The successful candidate will work within the Health Team, in collaboration with our partner organisation Camden & Islington Young People's Service, to deliver 1:1 emotional and practical support, assist in our drop-in service, and facilitate workshops for all young people experiencing homelessness.

You will specialise in helping young people improve their self-confidence while improving their understanding of difficult emotions such as anger. Additionally, you will focus on developing their thinking and practical skills, as well as coping and de-escalation strategies. Your work will aim to improve relationships among young people within the day centre, and continue to promote trauma informed working practices across New Horizon, so that all of our services are designed to address the psychological and emotional needs of young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness.

You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an important and innovative new role. You will be provided with your own theraputic support delivered by a highly experienced clinical psychologist and regular individual and group clinical supervision. You will also be given opportunities for further professional development through training and consultation through New Horizon and our Camden & Islington's Young People Service.

Job summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will work closely with the Chief Officer (CO) to grow the business activities of Headway Black Country (HBC).

The BDM's core purpose is to work with the CO, members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board of Trustees to identify and develop new business and funding opportunities, to enable HBC to meet our charitable objectives, specifically regarding the key themes of:

• Providing support: Offering practical advice, emotional support, and rehabilitation services to individuals who have experienced a brain injury, as well as their families and caregivers.
• Raising awareness: Increasing public understanding and awareness of brain injuries, their causes, and the impact they can have on individuals and their families.
• Promoting independence: Helping individuals with brain injuries to regain their independence, develop skills, and improve their quality of life through various programs and services.

You will provide support to the CO in the identification of opportunities, development, and submission of proposals, and managing the bid/tender processes from scoping through to implementation:

• To secure income from a range of sources to support the Strategic and Business Plans of Headway Black Country.
• To lead on the development of a range of new business opportunities.
• To build relationships with a range of key stakeholders to better position the organisation.

KEY TASKS

• Gain a full understanding of all areas of Headway Black Country to enable post-holder to identify and develop new opportunities.
• To undertake a market analysis to identify opportunities for growth, and to lead on the development of appropriate business products and services as agreed with the CO.
• To identify opportunities for service development through new funding streams, partnership, and commissioning opportunities.
• To lead on the management and preparation of funding bids, tenders, business proposals.
• Coordinate the implementation of agreed new projects and help to develop monitoring plans, and co-ordinating reporting arrangements.
• To develop positive relationships with a range of stakeholders providing funding to charities to raise awareness and promote HBC within the Region.
• Build relationships and partnerships and pursue funding avenues to realise new service activity in line with HBC charitable objectives.
• Implement and lead HBC Fundraising Committee and developing the organisation's funding strategy with the Chief Officer and Board of Trustees.
• Input into the website/ marketing materials to include new and potential development ideas.
• Collaborate and work as part of the management team on agreeing what Business Development Plans progress/ track and communicate progress and recommendations.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Possess a proven track record (2 to 3 years or more) of leading successful applications to grant makers and charitable trusts.
• Have experience in corporate fundraising and donor stewardship.
• Have experience of a broad variety of business/ fundraising opportunities relevant to the charitable sector.
• Have proven experience of developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders to deliver tangible results.

Other Duties

• To attend appropriate training sessions and meetings, as required.
• To contribute to monitoring and audit procedures to assess and review the effectiveness of all services and the benefits to clients.
• To actively promote Headway Black Country, the services provided by the organisation, its mission statement, aims and objectives.

Duties and key responsibilities

Support and Information

• To deliver the Sarcoma UK Support Line, a confidential telephone and email support and information service for anyone affected by sarcoma. This includes:
  • Providing individual information and support to service users on sarcoma and related issues, by telephone, email and other media as the service develops.
  • Adhering to quality standards, confidentiality, Sarcoma UK policies and the standard operating procedures of the Support Line.
  • Under direction from the Director of Research, Policy and Support and Support Line Manager, contribute to Sarcoma UK’s social and other media as appropriate.
• To provide clinical input to the development of the charity’s information materials including the revision of existing information materials and the development of new information products.
• To provide input to the clinical content of the charity’s website.
• To raise awareness of the charity’s information and support services within the health professional field.
• To contribute sarcoma knowledge and clinical expertise across all the charity’s programmes.

Maintain Professional Knowledge

• Keep up to date with treatment and care of sarcoma through research and review of publications, horizon scanning, and attending study days and conferences, and disseminate this information within the charity.
• Adhere to the standards of good practice outlined in the AHP / NMC professional code of conduct, or relevant professional body’s standards.
• Maintain professional registration and compliance with revalidation requirements ensuring ongoing clinical education and professional development.
• Attend mandatory clinical supervision sessions.

External Relationships

• To maintain positive relationships with key Sarcoma UK stakeholders including sarcoma patients, family members/carers and support group leaders.
• To develop and maintain contact with sarcoma specialist healthcare professionals, including clinicians, specialist nurses and allied health professionals who have reviewed our information materials.

Other

• To support new work within the information and support team. 
• The role will require some travel to meetings and events throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
• Attend Sarcoma UK events and take part in Sarcoma UK’s wider work.
• Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.
• The post holder will be working in a developing environment and will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

ABOUT US

We’re a small, creative and fast-growing charity that was established from inside The Economist in 2012. We support children, aged 10 to 16, from under-served backgrounds to develop essential skills for the modern world. We do this by enabling them to join inspiring discussions about the news, which teach them to think critically, communicate effectively and understand global issues. 

Our activities

Our programme, Topical Talk, brings about these discussions in four ways:

• We create world-class teaching resources for classroom discussions about global news stories
• We run Topical Talk Festival: the only news festival for young people. Children from countries all over the world join discussions with each other and global experts; and they work towards publishing their opinions in written, audio and film format for the chance to win awards 
• We offer Topical Talk Prizes: collections of resources for a series in-depth discussions about a big global issue or theme, following which students submit their work for the chance to win prizes
• We train and support teachers to bring high-quality news discussions into their classrooms; including through intensive, in-person community partnerships in the UK, US and Nigeria

Our impact

Children who take part in Topical Talk can make seven times more progress compared to their peers in creativity, problem-solving, open-minded listening and confident speaking. These skills are linked with better outcomes at school, in employment and as citizens. Our programme has received international recognition, including by HundrED as one of the top 100 educational initiatives of 2020 and 2021, and as first-prize winner of the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Awards 2022.

Our ambitions

We are at an exciting point in our trajectory. We have demonstrated huge growth potential, going from a small UK pilot in 2013 to working with thousands of teachers globally today, including on-the-ground work in the UK and US. There is still an enormous unmet need, so we have bold plans to reach one million children in 2026, with 100,000 engaging on a weekly basis. 

THE ROLE 

We’re looking for a qualified teacher or ex-teacher who is excited to play a hands-on role in our team, training and building relationships with Topical Talk teachers in the UK and internationally.

You’ll be responsible, alongside our Teacher Engagement and Development Lead, for supporting teachers to get the most from Topical Talk programmes. You’ll do this by building strong relationships with a range of individual teachers, school groups (for example multi-academy trusts) and organisations. You'll be confident communicating with and motivating teachers, and delivering inspiring teacher training in a range of settings in the UK and internationally. You’ll also work directly with 10- to 16-year-old students on a regular basis, to model lessons to teachers, deliver workshops and facilitate online discussions. 

From time to time you will work with our content team to give input into the creation of interactive lessons on news topics. You’ll share ideas for class activities or topics, join idea-generation and feedback sessions, and occasionally draft lessons yourself.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and deliver teacher training and support to maximise impact of Topical Talk (40%)

• Work with the Teacher Engagement and Development Lead to design and deliver online and in-person teacher training that supports and inspires teachers to run Topical Talk lessons regularly
• Visit schools to observe, and occasionally teach, Topical Talk lessons
• Collect data, such as case studies and progress reports, to help evaluate the impact of Topical Talk 
• Test and evaluate different approaches to teacher support in order to continually improve how we work with teachers

Engage students with Topical Talk lessons (30%)

• Deliver inspiring workshops and lessons about the news to young people aged 10 to 16 globally
• Co-plan and present Live Lessons to a global audience
• Facilitate online discussions between young people during Topical Talk Festivals 
• Collaborate with the content team to share ideas, give feedback and occasionally draft lessons about the news

Build and nurture effective relationships with teachers, school groups and organisations (30%) 

• Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, local education authorities, school districts or multi-academy trusts, to make Topical Talk a long-term success in the schools 
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of Topical Talk in depth in these schools or communities, using evidence to recommend programme-wide changes
• Work with the Head of Marketing and Teacher Engagement Development Lead to recruit schools to participate in Topical Talk Festival, liaising with teachers and persistently following up as needed
• Support teachers to get ready to participate in the Topical Talk Festival, including briefing them, guiding them through the sign-up process and answering their questions / troubleshooting

This role will involve international travel so a valid passport is required. It also involves working with young people, so you will need to have an enhanced DBS check (which The Foundation will organise).

Founded in 1993, Exeter Community Initiatives aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the Exeter area, and beyond. Over the years, we have helped over 50,000 people through our work. 

Exeter Community Initiatives’ Transitions project aims to help people to become more independent and connected within mutually supportive communities.

We are looking for a pro-active and experienced Project Support Worker to co-facilitate the Transitions project. 

This is an exciting, varied and responsible role, in which the right candidate will plan and deliver workshops, social meet ups, train, support and coordinate volunteers, and provide direct assessment and support to users of the service.

• Workshops that address various aspects of personal development and wellbeing, whilst bringing people together in a shared learning environment. This experience encourages the forming of relationships and support through the sharing of challenges, knowledge and experience.

Our expert team of canine behaviourists provide behavioural support and advice to teams within Battersea, members of the public, and the rescue organisations we work with around the world. The team design and help implement behaviour modification and training plans for dogs whilst coaching members of the canine care groups through the practical day-to-day steps. They also assist with behavioural and welfare assessments of animals who come into our centres and are on hand to help manage and provide further support with dogs with more complex behavioural needs. The team provide support to dogs during their stay at Battersea, and are also available for continued advice after rehoming.

We are now looking to recruit a Canine Behaviour and Training Advisor for our team in London. Within this role, you will work with our operational teams in the assessment and welfare of the dogs in our care and in the provision of behavioural training and advice for staff, volunteers, customers and external organisations. You will be working as part of a care group to create behaviour modification plans, support with handling difficult dogs and make recommendations, along with the individual care group, for individual dog outcomes.

The charity was founded in 2004 by our now Chief Executive and has grown enormously over that time. We currently have partnerships with 9 hospitals who refer families to us for our support, which ranges from therapies and counselling, to respite holidays and special family experiences.

 Main Purpose of the Role

Momentum Children’s Charity’s fundraising team is highly ambitious, driven by our goal to help families of seriously ill children in London, Surrey and Sussex to keep moving forward. Corporate income currently comprises circa 18% of the overall income. But with our expansion in hospital partnership geography, and aspiration to provide support to more families in the future, the expansion of this income stream will be key to this growth.

Working with the Corporate Partnerships Lead, this person will enjoy helping to develop all facets of the corporate fundraising area, working with and forging relationships with businesses to develop opportunities, fundraising and charitable giving, provide outstanding stewardship and relationship management, as well as helping to research and grow a healthy, robust pipeline of new opportunities.

In this exciting role you will be responsible for implementing the charity’s Individual Giving, Legacy and In Memory fundraising programmes (target of £1.3m in 2024). You will manage a team of up to two with the support from the Head of Fundraising, with whom you will work closely with to develop a series of targeted multi-channelled appeals and campaigns to engage with existing supporters and to attract, recruit and retain new ones.

You will be confident in handling and interrogating data, utilising your experience to deliver insight led creative campaigns across several channels. You will use data to test and learn through the delivery of persuasive and compelling appeals and campaigns - aiming to grow supporter loyalty and inspire repeat donations.

Key responsibilities
Planning and implementation

Donor data analysis and segmentation
Analyse and segment the supporter base to develop targeted supporter journeys and ask strategies, using donor data from our CRM to:

• Ensure effective use of supporter data for campaign purposes.
• Manage a continuous cycle of testing for new channels and techniques for acquisition and retention, based on audience insight and sector trends.

Stewardship and donor engagement
Manage donor stewardship to provide personalised and engaging communications, including:

Competencies: knowledge, skills and experience

Post Title: Youth Violence Intervention Practitioner 

Location: The role will be located at St. Mary's Hospital in London, with occasional travel to Redthread's other sites, including the head office in London. All Redthread team members should be flexible in supporting other sites when necessary. Regular visits to Redthread's main offices in London and other projects and activities at various locations across London and the UK will be required.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus.

Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up a fourth clinic in Gateshead and a fifth in Redbridge. This role will report to the CEO of the charity and will work closely as part of the Senior Leadership team. The Director of Growth will have oversight of Fundraising, Communications, Marketing and Clinic Growth within the charity. This will involve line management of the Fundraising Manager and Executive Assistant in the team.
