About us

Who we are

Founded in 1993, Exeter Community Initiatives aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the Exeter area. Over the years, we have helped over 50,000 people through our work.

We seek to increase people's self-esteem, confidence and skills, particularly among those who are disadvantaged, socially excluded, or vulnerable.

Our friendly and supportive team of employees and volunteers are passionate, dedicated and ambitious.

  • Jelly is ECI’s children’s charity shop - selling high quality, preloved items families need including kids and maternity clothes, books, shoes, toys, and baby equipment.
  • ECI's Family Resource project works with families with children 0-18 facing challenges and hardships, to develop the skills to move forward as happy, healthy families.
  • Working as part of the Wellbeing Exeter project ECI's Community Builders in Exeter and Cranbrook help create new networks, connect people and opportunities, and look at what community spaces, skills, groups and people exist in an area.
  • ECI's Transitions project works with people to become more independent and connected within mutually supportive communities.
