What kind of research does the NSPCC Research and Evidence team do?
The NSPCC Research and Evidence team carries out, commissions and partners on high quality social research. We seek to answer big and small questions around preventing and stopping child abuse, and how to support children who have experienced it.
- Our research is child-centred, meaningful and useful - it drives improvements to our work with children, families and communities, influences the development of policy and guidance, and contributes to new NSPCC campaigns, as well as adding to the wider evidence base.
- We also support research activity at NSPCC via our Research Advice Clinic, Evidence Summary Service, and the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee.
What will the job involve?
This is an exciting and varied role for a researcher with excellent project management skills. You'll be working with colleagues in departments across the NSPCC including Childline, Policy and Public Affairs, Knowledge and Information, Schools services and Participation. Current projects we're working on include research on technology assisted online sexual extortion, sex and relationships education at secondary and primary levels, problematic sexual behaviour and provision of services to tackle loneliness, to name just a few.
Specifically, the role will involve:
- Designing and project managing research on a wide range of NSPCC research projects.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop research projects and advising other teams in the NSPCC about how to carry out robust and ethical research.
- Communicating research findings to a range of different audiences including colleagues, practitioners, decision makers, policy makers, academics and the children and families who access our services.
- Managing junior members of the team directly and via our matrix management structure.
What experience are we looking for?
You will have demonstrable experience of undertaking and managing complex research and evaluation projects in different settings and contexts. You will have a passion for the NSPCC's mission, and for child-centred, participatory research, as well as a strong understanding of:
- Qualitative and quantitative research methods, including participatory fieldwork methods
- What makes research, particularly research with children, safe and ethical.

Location: The role is based from ISUOG House, 122 Freston Road, London, W10 6TR. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Youth Engagement worker, to join our Somewhere For Us Service team. The role of the service is to ensure that children and young people feel supported on their grief journey. The service is co-designed with our Youth Advisory Group. The support is provided through a range of group and 1-1 supports, including Understanding Your Child’s Bereavement online sessions for parents, group support and activities for children and young people and 1-1 support, grief ally/buddy etc.
Workshops are delivered in the community to individuals and groups who work with children and young people, to help increase their skills and knowledge on how to effectively support children and young people going through a bereavement.
The Somewhere For Us Service supports bereaved children and young people aged 8 – 25. It is funded to June 2027, through the National Lottery Community Fund Empowering Young People funding stream.
There are 2 posts, each for 32 hours per week, one based in our Foyle office and one in Belfast office. You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of bereavement support to children, young people, families and communities across the Western and Northern Trust Areas (Foyle), Belfast, Southern and South Eastern Trust Areas (Belfast) and wider NI, if required. Ability to travel independently across NI to fulfil the role is essential.

Accountabilities
Social Media Management
- Input into a review of SEO London’s social media plan and engagement tactics.
- Manage SEO London's social media accounts, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
- Oversee the social media request process, liaising with other teams to capture compelling content.
- Execute the social media plan by creating weekly posts, including content writing and visual asset design, and social media ads where relevant.

As the first point of contact for supporters, the Supporter Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring excellent customer service across the charity's brands. This position involves managing a diverse range of supporter inquiries through various communication channels, responding within a 48-hour timeframe to uphold the team's Service Level Agreement. The coordinator will efficiently handle a wide range of essential activities, such as donations and complaints, while maintaining accurate records in the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge) to enhance the supporter experience.
The ideal candidate will be adept with data management and eager to improve processes across the organization. By collaborating closely with fundraising teams and the Supporter Care Manager, the coordinator will contribute to refining systems that enhance fundraising efforts. This role emphasizes a supporter-led approach, ensuring that every interaction is handled with care, ultimately solidifying the success of the entire fundraising team.
Customer care
- Act as the initial contact for supporters via email, telephone, and post, providing outstanding customer service.
- Engage with supporters consistently, kindly and with empathy to aid their stewardship, retainment and satisfaction

- Handle and process donations and setting up direct debits over the phone
- Respond promptly and sensitively to donor requests such as cancelling and altering direct debits, allocating donations to special funds and updating Gift Aid information
- Ensure all acknowledgement letters are kept up to date with accurate information and branding
- Support the Gift Processing team to thank donors promptly within agreed timelines and ensure all communications being added to the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).
Delivering processes
- Follow step-by-step processes for managing data in MS Excel which support our database team in their imports the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Keep all process documentation up to date and report discrepancies to the database team
- Writing up process documentation and occasionally training others to follow them
Collaboration
- Build and maintain productive relationships with fundraising teams, supporting them with posting out materials and supporter requests
- Working closely with the Trust Engagement manager to improve the supporter experience by facilitating good working processes and event fulfilment

About the role
If you are a database reporting expert and can deliver reports, mailing files and insight to a range of stakeholders, the Reporting and Insight Analyst role may be for you. Advancement seeks an enthusiastic and proactive collaborator to report on and analyse Imperial’s alumni, prospect and donor data. You will work extensively on our Alumni and Fundraising database, with responsibility for maintaining and developing our Power BI data models, as well as delivering reports, mailing files and other data solutions that are essential to the activities of our division.
What you would be doing
You will be supporting teams across our division with their data needs. This will include designing segmentation plans for communications, delivering mailing files and event guestlists, all of which are vital to the daily activities of our fundraising, alumni relations and events teams. Using your excellent database knowledge and technical skills, particularly with Excel, manipulating these large datasets will be second nature to you, and your solid understanding of data protection means we stay GDPR compliant throughout the process.
You will also be responsible for maintaining and developing all database reports which are run primarily in Power BI. Your duties will include developing and updating our data models, maintaining existing reports, delivering training sessions as well as leading projects to create and roll out new reports.
