The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast growing organisation and team that recruits and develops young leaders to transform the educational and social outcomes of pupils across the UK. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator position offers you the opportunity to lead on regional attraction work to deliver a pipeline of high quality volunteers and team leaders (where applicable) excited to apply for the City Year programme.
You will contribute to delivering an efficient, effective, end-to-end recruitment service, supporting selection and retention to ensure outstanding volunteers are recruited to deliver excellent outcomes for schools and pupils we work with.
You will have responsibility and autonomy to search for exceptional volunteer and team leaders motivated to drive and shape social change.
Primary responsibilities include:

About You

About the Organisation
This youth social action charity challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time voluntary service. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

These insights will enable the fundraising teams to implement audience focused fundraising campaigns that deliver long-term sustainable income, as well as mutually beneficial relationships with our supporters.

- Working closely with Data Insights where required, lead the tracking and analysis of marketing data, to identify key trends, opportunities and areas for development.
- Oversee campaigns including the creation of campaign plans, execution and delivery and campaign evaluation.
- Drive fundraising and supporter acquisition through the use of digital advertising channels, such as Meta and Google.

Our mission:
Power for Democracies is a new international pro-democracy research initiative with a mission to protect and strengthen liberal democracies around the world. Our goal is to identify the most relevant and effective pro-democracy projects by civil society organisations in the context of current and emerging threats to democracies.
Power for Democracies identifies these projects by systematically synthesising and analysing existing research and, where necessary, conducting and commissioning new research. We aim to publish recommendations that private and institutional donors, as well as civil society actors, can use to decide how and where to allocate their limited resources to best serve democracies.
Communication and outreach are critical to the success of our mission. We seek to combine evidence-based research with academic knowledge and practical, results-oriented civil society experience. Our communications, online publications and other public-facing interactions address complex and dynamic issues, but must be accessible, transparent and informative to a range of audiences. The successful, targeted dissemination of our recommendations to the international donor community, their advisors and institutional grant-makers is critical to our mission. The attention that the assessed and recommended projects receive, and ultimately the funding that goes to these highly effective civil society initiatives, is key to achieving the positive change we aim for.
Your responsibilities as the Head of Communications:
- Help position Power for Democracies as the "go to" evidence-based research and evaluation entity in the pro-democracy field with relevant stakeholders, donor groups, networks, institutions, and civil society spaces.
- Recruit and build the small communications team in charge of Power for Democracies’ communication and distribution formats, channels, and tools.
- Develop Power for Democracies' outreach and dissemination strategies (in close collaboration with the Knowledge + Research team) to gain meaningful attention from experts, the pro-democracy space, and donors alike.
- Develop effective media and communication formats that best address the needs of our target groups (websites, white papers, podcast/videocast features, talks etc.).
- Oversee the successful translation and adaptation of our research outputs into concise, informative, and engaging content.
- In collaboration with our research experts, develop and plan our publication formats and oversee the Power for Democracies publishing calendar.
- Provide support and advice to management and research professionals on all aspects of communications and outreach.
As head of our small communications team, you are part of the management team and have a decisive role for Power for Democracies' success. Given the startup nature of the organization, additional tasks may arise ad hoc, such as contributions to networking and fundraising of the organisation. You report to the Executive Director.
What you bring:
- At least 6-10 years' practical experience in communications, media, publishing/editing or fundraising, including substantive experience in or for a research institution, think tank, science editorial team or equivalent.
- At least two years in a senior role and solid experience of working with teams of content producers and publishing content on time.
- A solid and nuanced understanding of the relevant spaces and stakeholders.

We are recruiting for a Global Content Editor to join our HQ Communications Team based in Godalming in the UK (with some home-based working – currently 3 days a week).
About the role
Working closely with our campaigners and other teams, our Global Content Editor will ensure that editorial content on Compassion’s international website is engaging, impactful, and reaching the right audiences to help drive our mission to end factory farming. They will also write, edit and proofread longer texts produced to further our international campaigns and policy work, such as the powerful campaign reports we release, and write/edit copy for a range of channels including mainstream and social media. The successful candidate will also lead on improving SEO across our websites, rolling out shared content to our national websites, and developing and maintaining a writing style guide.
About you
This post requires exceptional writing and editing skills with strong experience of producing high-quality copy for a diverse range of channels, including websites, annual reports, news stories, as well as social media content. A good team player, you will be used to working in a fast-paced environment and able to use your own initiative to progress projects, working closely with our campaigners to keep abreast of campaign developments. A sharp news sense and a keen eye for detail are essential, as are creativity and flexibility. Candidates should also possess a keen interest in animal welfare and environmental issues. We are looking for a talented, self-motivated and well organised Project Coordinator to help ensure the smooth running and delivery of our Right to Rehab and Network of Exercise Professionals campaign work.
You will support the day-to-day work of one of our busy and influential areas at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and coordinate progress reports, diaries, partner communications and meetings, event organisation and quarterly updates from all four UK countries.
This role is a key point of contact for Community Rehabilitation Alliance (CRA) members, CSP staff and other internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to the community rehabilitation campaign, including responding to, and triaging enquiries, providing advice, guidance and assistance.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be very organised, able to develop positive relationships with CSP colleagues and alliance members and enjoy problem solving in a fast-paced environment, using your initiative.
First class communication and administration skills with a strong team ethic are also essential, as is a successful track record of campaign, project or office management and the ability to coordinate and support work, often to tight and conflicting timescales.

We are looking for a Finance Consultant for our War on Want Financial Changeover Project.
War on Want is a radical charity, formed over 70 years ago which exists to campaign for action on the root causes of poverty. These are understood to be political, the result of choices made by governments and corporate elites. War on Want’s history has taught that only by educating the public about the root causes of poverty and the solutions needed, alongside them taking collective action together, can we bring about the change needed.
War on Want works in the UK and globally with in partnership with trade unions and grassroots social movement groups to challenge the structures of poverty and injustice.
The Council of Management of War on Want together with Senior Management team have decided to invest in a financial system upgrade that involves the following:
- Migrating from existing accounting package, Exchequer, to a new accounting package (to be confirmed and chosen with the consultant) with no loss of data.
- Revising the existing chart of accounts, cost code and department codes structure to make it more user-friendly.
- Producing a new more sophisticated template of management accounts that feeds into an accounting system of choice.
- Providing training on the use of new accounting system and writing a manual for different groups of users (capturing key processes and tasks).
The budget for this work will not exceed £15,000 excluding VAT, and includes all related costs and expenses.

About CoppaFeel!
CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.
We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.
Breast cancer does not need to be detected late, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported by people like you, we will do all we can to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen.
The Role
The Social Media Executive is an integral role within the Marketing team at CoppaFeel! and will play an essential part in supporting our 3-year organisational growth strategy. The Social Media Executive needs to be social obsessed with a keen eye for new and emerging trends that will ensure CoppaFeel!’s social channels organically reach our 18 - 24 year old target audience.
In this role you’ll work with our Social Media Manager to execute and manage the delivery of our social media strategy. You will be responsible for engaging with our community across social channels, content creation and ensuring we stay on top of emerging trends. You will work collaboratively with the wider Marketing, Fundraising, Operations and Education teams within the organisation.
The right candidate will be proactive, creative and organised, as well as being fully immersed in youth culture and digital trends. Ultimately you will have a real desire to make a difference, ensuring that all breast cancers are diagnosed early.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week.
You will report to the Social Media Manager and sit within the Marketing team. This role will work closely with the Marketing Executive, Volunteer Community Executive and the Individual Giving Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- As the heartbeat heartbeat of our social channels, you’ll deliver best in class community management, engaging with CoppaFeel!’s audience and encouraging interaction. This will involve monitoring and responding to comments, messages and proactively reaching out to relevant people across our social channels in a timely manner.
- Create engaging content that engages with our target audience and reflects CoppaFeel!’s brand guidelines and tone of voice.
- Support with the scheduling of content across our social media channels using SproutSocial.
- Feed into monthly analytics and reporting that can be used to inform the social strategy.
- Work alongside our Education and Fundraising teams to promote awareness and fundraising activities with our online communities.
- Build relationships with new and existing supporters and content creators.
- Work with the Education team to mobilise UBT and CoppaChallenge participants across social channels to maximise peer-to-peer reach.
- Stay up to date with industry news, to enable us to be innovative and promote the growth of our channels.
- Work with young people to ensure that our social channels are the product of co-creation.
- Set up paid activations to boost best performing content across Instagram and TikTok.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
Essential
- Proven working experience in a social media role (1 year+)
- High degree of professional/and or personal familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube etc.
- Experience using Canva with an aptitude for visual design.
- Experience of using social scheduling tools.
- Experience activating paid social campaigns.
Desirable
- Social media obsessed, with finger on the pulse for all new and emerging trends.
- Evident understanding of 18 - 24 year old target audience.
- Evidence of inspiring creativity.
- Ability to create native content in apps ahead or in line with trends.

The Role
The team purpose is to listen to, understand and inspire our supporters and our teams to fundraise with pride in a way that’s both easy and right for them, with the help they need to enable greater giving that is legal, ethical and inspiring to others. Together, the team will provide onboarding and regular data led stewardship touchpoints for supporters across a portfolio currently delivering £4.7m annual income.

• Working to set process and templates, provide excellent supporter journeys that deliver income
• Deliver personal touchpoint stewardship plans to complement mass journeys. These include calls to all supporters to welcome, keep in touch, wish good luck, thank and chase income.

You will understand the importance of making telephone calls to supporters.
