Background: Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) is the UK network for British Muslim charities working for social good in the UK and internationally. Through our network of almost 300 charitable organisations, we aim to collectively build a more accountable, transparent and efficient British Muslim charitable sector, in order to improve our ability—both as individual organisations and as a sector—to contribute to a more just and sustainable world. Along with our member organisations, we work with a wider network of partners that includes non-member NGOs, regulatory bodies, civil society partners, and academic institutions, to drive systemic change.
Job Purpose: MCF has a small team, but our impact is far-reaching. The Sector and Business Development Lead has an important role in supporting members and the wider British Muslim charity sector, reporting and working directly with the CEO. The postholder will be responsible for managing change management, organisational development and capacity building support to the voluntary, community and third sector in 4 core areas including governance, organisational development, volunteering and fundraising. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and over-seeing advice and guidance to groups around these topics, ensuring that they are informed of the regulatory and legal information necessary, encouraging full compliance with legislation through a designed health-check framework. They will be supported by the wider MCF team as well as trusted external partners and specialists.
The aim of the role is to support the broader work of MCF in developing a strong Muslim-led charity sector, including delivery of workshops and policy development relevant to the speciality areas connected with this post.
Main Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will:
• Support organisations by facilitating guidance on best practice across the 4 core areas of governance, organisational development, volunteering and fundraising.
• Identifying and delivering training and resources in the 4 core areas outlined with support from the wider MCF team.
• Managing the development of practical support and advice for activities such as creating, modifying a constitution, restructuring a charity, social investment and business development.
• Identifying patterns and common issues arising from contact with organisations within the sector that indicate individual and organisational development and capacity needs and developing a suitable response to address the need.
• Focus on capacity building through the development and management of support in relation to identified needs.
• Record all support given on our CRM and through reporting structures.
• Work with specific member charities to complete a Charity Health Check form that covers all aspects of managing their charity, ranging from governance issues, safeguarding, volunteering and fundraising.
• Help identify those charities where direct support is required and work with them, alongside MCF senior leadership, to deliver effective change.
• Work with the wider team to establish a designed framework of support including the development of resources and briefs. • Coordinate a network of pro-bono support from specialist practitioners, checking their credentials and maintaining relationships.
• Support the leadership team to ensure processes are in place to maintain and build the MCF’s reputation as an accessible, well-governed, transparent, and accountable infrastructure charity.
• Gather impact monitoring quantitative and qualitative data for reporting and monitoring purposes.
• Maintain confidentiality in all appropriate areas concerning MCF or other charitable organisations internal affairs.
• Contribute to the progress, success and impact of MCF as the network of British Muslim-led charities.

The Head of Alumni Engagement and Development will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy for fostering strong relationships with Ackworth School’s Old Scholar community, supporting the long-term interests of the school as we head towards our 250th anniversary in 2029. This role is responsible for fundraising, donor relations, and legacy initiatives, as well as coordinating and delivering events and communications aimed at engaging with Old Scholars and the broader Ackworth School and Quaker community.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications, the Head of Alumni Engagement and Development will collaborate closely with various school departments to elevate the school’s profile and optimise income generation. The focus will be on relationship management with key high-value donors and promoting a culture of philanthropy. Additionally, the role will drive support for Ackworth School capital projects and cultivate a culture of donor care that motivates current and potential supporters.
Ackworth School, a co-educational boarding and day school, was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It maintains its ethos and traditions and is still governed by the Society. The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities, recently achieving "Excellent" in the FCI/EQI (February 2023). The Head is a member of both HMC and the Society of Heads.

The successful candidate will be able to:
·Collaborate with the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications to create a fundraising strategy centred on capital projects and bursaries.
·Lead personal engagement fundraising, developing strategies for securing principal and major donors.
·Meet annual personal income targets, increasing both donor numbers and regular giving income.
·Monitor and report on fundraising income, events, and activities, including producing financial reports.
·Design and manage a program of events aimed at engaging Ackworth School Old Scholars and wider Ackworth School community members.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising is an exciting new role developed for the Society to increase fundraising and develop additional income streams to enhance the sustainability of the Society. They will help deliver the Transformation Plan, an exciting new project for Scotland’s oldest learned antiquarian Society to help deliver the Society’s vision: “Scotland’s past is for everyone to research, share, enjoy and protect, home and abroad”.
The Transformation Plan includes the acquisition and redevelopment of a B-listed building in central Edinburgh to co-create the most inclusive, low-carbon and heritage-rich space to work, visit and participate. This will become a heritage hub for Scotland’s past, helping to bring heritage alive for a wide range of public audiences. This role will provide the necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills which will enable the Society to achieve its fundraising targets and enhance its development program.
They will be an effective fundraiser and key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. They will report directly to the Director sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Society’s strategy and vision.
Initially on a 2.5-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to funding, the post will work as part of the senior management team and liaise directly with staff, Councillors (trustees), members (known as Fellows) and other organisations and individuals to ensure the successful delivery of their responsibilities.
The post will have the following immediate priorities:
· Helping develop and submit a major stage one Development Phase National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) grant application in collaboration with the Director and others, creating an engaging and successful proposal and case for support (part of an overall c£6m Transformation Plan project)
· Development and delivery of a major fundraising campaign based on personal giving, grant applications and other fundraising activities

· Advising members of SMT on the availability of funds and the viability of obtaining funds to support initiatives
· Contribute to leadership decisions on all aspects of policy, development and organisation

The Head of Fundraising will have substantial fundraising and management experience, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in securing funds from statutory sources, foundations, trusts and major donors. They will be a key contact for grant giving organisations, personal donations and legacies. They will report directly to the Director sharing collective responsibility to deliver the Society’s strategy and vision. As such they will need the following:

Further Information
This post is an initial 2.5-year (30 month) full-time contract which will be extendible subject to funding. There will be a short probationary period during which time your skills and suitability for the position will be assessed. Development of fundraising for the Transformation Plan will be the immediate priority. A lot of work has already been undertaken by the Society in preparing for an NLHF application as part of this, but the skill and experience of this post will ensure it has the maximum chance of success. This will include liaising with others, including NLHF staff and our consultants, the More Partnership.
The tasks and role will develop in line with the requirements in that application and the implementation of the Transformation Plan and will be reviewed after the submission of the initial NLHF bid. However, the core responsibilities will remain the development and delivery of successful fundraising strategies, increasing income to the Society.

Principal Accountabilities
- Drive the development and implementation of a unified global brand strategy and content strategy that aligns with Save the Children's mission and values, championing a cohesive and compelling way to tell our brand story worldwide that drives impact.
- Lead the creation and distribution of high-quality, emotionally engaging, and insight-driven content – with storytelling at its heart – that enhances the global brand, supports our Global Funding and Engagement Frameworks and bolsters Save the Children's global reputation.
- Ensure that brand is at the heart of our creative content through a consistent tone of voice and visual identity. Develop and manage branding tools and guidelines to ensure a distinct, consistent and motivating brand experience across all platforms and regions.
- Uphold the highest standards of ethical content collection and adherence to global consent processes and image guidelines, thereby protecting the dignity and rights of all individuals featured in Save the Children’s marketing and communications.
- Strategically lead our approach to content in an emergency to drive audience engagement, fundraising and brand equity.
- Support internal stakeholders and partners to embed and promote the global brand positioning and architecture across all regions and channels, and encourage integration across markets and campaigns where appropriate to drive up awareness, familiarity and hard preference to support.
- Monitor and analyse brand and content effectiveness through data-driven insights, ensuring continuous improvement and optimisation of strategies to achieve maximum reach and impact.
- Lead and develop a diverse and inclusive team, advocating for equal opportunities and providing professional growth and development to support their career progression in alignment with Save the Children's commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Lead a strong and committed Global Brand and Creative community across our organisation, promoting best practices, knowledge sharing, and collaboration to support our strategic goals.
- Cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with creative and brand agencies, and freelancers, ensuring all work is insight-driven, on brand, and of excellent creative quality to inspire and engage global audiences.

- Relevant Professional Certifications: Certifications from recognised institutions in strategic marketing or brand management can be advantageous.
