Job description

KMHCF is a small but dynamic charity which uniquely acts as the collective voice of the views and concerns of all unpaid Mental Health Carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston. We are recognised in this campaigning role by statutory services who engage us as active members of decision-making committees. We also partner with other relevant organisations.

Our Management Committee includes both those with professional skills and also those with life experience of being a Mental Health Carer and so we are able to assist the individual Carers who contact us for confidential advice and guidance.

We assist individual Carers with 1:1 advice, guidance and self-empowerment, as well as having a monthly Peer-Support Group. By supporting Carers’ needs, we also contribute to the wellbeing of those they care for, aiming for the best possible mental health.

In wishing to destigmatize Mental Health issues, we regularly engage the general public through advertising and community engagement.

We are keen to further develop our services and, for this, we invite a volunteer Trustee with the skills and determination to help us achieve this.

As we have no paid staff, all activity being carried out by volunteers, we are particularly keen to hear from those who can also offer to take hands-on responsibility for moving the development of our service forward. This might indicate an applicant who offers professional skills, but is now retired and would like to serve the community.

If you have expertise to offer, plus an enthusiasm to serve Carers who can often feel isolated and bewildered, we’d like to hear from you.
