Founded in 1876, Mothers’ Union is a women-led volunteer movement, with a membership of 4 million people around the world, 36,000 of whom live in the UK and Ireland. Based on Christian fellowship, members express their faith through action in their local communities, aiming to create a world where every individual can reach their full potential, by stopping poverty, injustice and violence.
You will be responsible for the implementation and day to day project management of the individual giving programme across our existing and new fundraising products, including our regular giving F2F activity, tribute funds and appeals programme. As part of a small individual giving team you will be working under the direction and authorisation of the Head of Individual Giving.
The Individual Giving team is responsible for income generation from individual supporters and members, using a range of direct marketing techniques via both online and offline channels. This is an exciting time of growth and opportunity for Mothers’ Union and we are looking for an enthusiastic person to take on this challenge and join our successful team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of Mothers’ Union’s fundraising strategy as defined by the annual Individual Giving fundraising budget and plan.
- To maintain professional standards whilst representing Mothers’ Union, ensuring both the reputation of the charity and adherence to our fundraising standards are maintained.
- To ensure good communication with F2F agencies, internal team members and the public by making sure that external communication channels are kept up to date.
- To be the primary point of contact for all supporter enquiries and complaints related to face to face fundraising.
- Managing and inspiring members and volunteers to support fundraising activities.
- To be proactive in keeping up to date with industry trends and changes.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern
This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

About The Role
You will be working in a collaborative, fast-paced and creative environment and will play a key role within our Engagement Team to strengthen Youth Music’s relationships with individual givers. This role will focus on engaging individuals to support our mission, managing relationships with community supporters, and delivering strategies to enhance community fundraising and individual giving.
About You
You are a motivated and relationship-driven individual who is passionate about music and making a difference. You will have a strong ability to engage, motivate and influence prospective and existing individual givers, a strategic mindset for fundraising and supporter engagement, and excellent stewardship skills. Your ability to build lasting relationships with our donors and community fundraisers will be key to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute a strategic plan for growing community fundraising and individual giving, and monitor and evaluate the impact of this.
- Take ownership of Youth Music’s guestlist donation initiative, securing gigs to add an optional donation in aid of Youth Music.
- Support the Philanthropy Lead in cultivating major donor relationships and co-investment opportunities with charitable trusts and foundations.
- Support the Ambassador & Supporter Engagement Manager and Philanthropy Lead with administration of onboarding Youth Music advocates and Change Makers.
- Lead on the administration and organisation of community fundraising events/activities. You will support challenge event participants with their fundraising by liaising with them before and after events, ensuring they feel prepared and have the Youth Music resources they require.
- Work with the Communications Team to make the most of the exciting communications opportunities that exist in the run-up to, during and after fundraising activities and events - including helping to collect, create and distribute photos, videos, news stories, interviews and social media posts.
- Lead on Gifts in Wills and Legacy Giving.
- Manage our fundraising reconciliation, carefully producing donation reports and logging donor information on Salesforce.
Other roles will include supporting the Engagement team with an array of day-to-day tasks such as:
- Provide supporter care; taking and responding to supporter enquiries via phone, email or post.
- Work on securing gifts, raffle prizes and other sponsorship to elevate community events and fundraisers.
- Manage the fundraising enquiries inbox and be the first point of contact for receiving donations and giving advice on how to fundraise for Youth Music.
- Contribute to Youth Music’s media channels to promote and support campaigns and events.
- Update Salesforce with accurate information about all donations and fundraising activities, and support others in its training and use.
- Ensure that all fundraising processes are compliant with GDPR regulations and Fundraising Regulator practice.
- Keep up to date with trends in community fundraising, corporate fundraising and charity events.
- Attend evening events as required, including potential travel and overnight stays.

We’re looking for a New Business Officer to join our team, to secure new partnerships that will grow income and take us one step closer to a cure.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Identify and build strategic relationships to generate income from new corporate supporters.
· A focused and strategic approach to identifying, researching, and targeting prospective corporate partners.
· Work closely with Corporate Partnerships Manager (CPM) to deliver our successful new business strategy.
· Build and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities to include strategic partnerships and charity of the year partnerships.
· Develop engagement plans for prospects, with innovative, commercially minded ideas, to maximise the chances of securing successful partnerships.
· Create innovative and creative applications/proposals for charity of the year and strategic partnerships.
· Actively network with potential corporate partners through warm contacts, events, conferences, and other available media.

What we are looking for:
· Corporate fundraising experience, or business development experience in a corporate role.

Additional Information:

What we can offer
Salary and pension
The salary for this role is £28,500 annum FTE (this will be pro-rated to reflect your working hours if you work less than 35 hours per week and is subject to normal deductions). If eligible to join the pension, we will match your contributions by 5%.
Annual leave

You’ll be managing and building relationships across West Wales with our supporters, Friends of Tenovus groups and establishing new fundraising connections and work with teams of volunteers. You can expect to manage events such as our annual Lovelight concerts, Singathons and Breast Cancer Awareness Month to name just a few.
Your region is already warm with strong supporter connections and exciting development opportunities to grow across the region in places like Swansea, Aberystwyth, Haverfordwest to Carmarthen.
Whilst it’d be great if you’ve done Third Sector Fundraising it isn’t a must have to be considered as we’ll consider transferable skills.
What's important is that you're on the West Wales patch already to get across the region regularly,you've got passion for our cause and can't wait to get involved with our supporters and volunteers and put on amazing fundraising events to raise income for people affected by cancer.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week with flexible working
Due to the nature of our fundraising work you’ll need to be flexible at times to work evenings and weekends. Around this we work core 11am-3pm hours to flexibly suit work around your lifestyle and personal commitments and operate our work flexibly between 7am – 9pm so you can do things like the school runs or fit in wellness activities and hobbies with your working life.
Interview: 1st May at the Tenovus Cancer Care Cardiff Head Office
Place of work: Home based within the West Wales region. There is regular travel required across West Wales and occasional travel to our Head Office (Cardiff). IT equipment is provided and you’ll ned a suitable home working space.
We’re looking for skills, knowledge or experience to show us you’ve:
- A background in securing and looking after business opportunities and a track record in delivering profit or against growth targets whilst building a pipeline
- The ability to work in a way with others that’s inclusive, collaborative and visionary where you proactively work to solutions and adapt your style
- The confidence and ability to deliver talks or presentations in front of a group and can take a lead in managing a project so everyone understands key information and the way things are organised
- Got the ability to build and develop great working relationships with a diverse range of people from our local communities to our Corporate partners
- Excellent time management, prioritisation, and planning skills.
