Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Plumber will use their vast experience, skill, and knowledge from previous roles to deliver exceptional plumbing services to the estate, ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all electrical systems and associated items in compliance with current standards and regulations.

Ensuring requirements of Children, young people, parents, staff and visitors are met at all times the role will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance tasks in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and also for installation, investigation, diagnosis and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, including, but not limited to heating and hot water systems, hot and cold-water services, air conditioning, air handling and ventilation equipment, drainage and rainwater system and control systems. To add variety to your day, you'll also be assigned other duties through the help desk. These tasks will diversify your workload and ensure your role remains dynamic and engaging.

Provide and receive routine and complex information to inform colleagues and other personnel. Be knowledgeable and conversant with technical issues and communicate and explain those to colleagues.

The role holder will assist in the supervision and monitoring of maintenance work carried out by contracts ensuring at all times their own work and that is contractors is within the statutory guidelines the role will ensure a quality customer service and delivery of outcomes within expected SLAs.

The role holder will participate in a 7-day shift rota and out of hours call out to ensure a 24/7 coverage of the estate.

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. Your role will focus on creating and making the best of those opportunities. You will: 

• Serve as a senior member of the team. YEF is buzzing with activity and in order to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. 

• Run and manage closed calls for complex evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. For each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. 

• Expertly manage relationships with key stakeholders. Aside from evaluators, we work closely with other grantees and partners. 

• Represent YEF at governance meetings and other external engagements. We’re passionate about our mission, proud of the work we’re doing to get there, and we’re keen to share this with stakeholders.  

• Provide support and counsel to our team of Senior Evaluation Managers and Evaluation Managers. This team closely manages over 35 efficacy trials, over 20 pilot studies and even more in the earlier stages of evaluation.

This is a unique role that requires you to build relationships of trust with service users, many of whom have faced significant barriers such as mental health challenges, substance use, and complex trauma. Your support will enable them to access crucial assessments, interventions, and treatments, enhancing their ability to utilise external statutory and community resources. You will also provide guidance and best practice standards to Project Workers, helping to set a benchmark of excellence in delivering complex needs support.

• Provide specialist interventions and personalised support for service users, including those with complex needs such as mental health issues, substance use, and physical health challenges.

• Supporting the housing services team, and accommodation services teams to ensure that clients receive timely rent statement and letters.
• Maintaining effective management of accurate rent income records.
• Collating performance returns against KPI’s and provider monitoring returns.

The role will also require supporting the Senior Housing Services and Income Officers in dealing with repairs and building related matters, anti-social behaviour, complaints and neighbourhood disputes.

We are currently operating a blended working arrangement, that includes working from our Head Office in Kings Cross for a minimum of 3 days per week, as well as flexible occasional travel to our accommodation services across London. There is also some potential for home working, in agreement with the Head of Property Services.

The weekly working hours are 37.5 hrs, to be completed between 9am-5pm Mon- Fri, with occasional need to work outside of these times in the event of an emergency.

About you:

To be successful, you will have good proven experience of:

• Organisation skills, working within a team and supporting the role of other within the team as well as excellent communication skills including both verbal and written communication.
• Proven skills and experience of using IT and databases related to administrative tasks such as producing letters and reports with a clear focus on organisation skills.

The role:

We’re seeking an engaging, organised and experienced individual to join our fantastic Mass Fundraising team on a 6-month fixed term contract! 

This role is integral to the delivery of our ambitious Mass Participation fundraising budget. You will support on the delivery of new and existing insight-led fundraising products and reaching targets. You’ll achieve this by leading on end-to-end processes, supporting the Mass team on large-scale projects and campaigns with the aim to increase acquisition and improve retention, as well as using your excellent relationship skills you’ll engage with and steward our supporters. 

About You 

• You will have a good knowledge of Community and Individual Giving fundraising and have worked in a fundraising or a Supporter Care team with a focus on community and events supporters and fulfilment 
• You will have an excellent track record of engaging with supporters through a range of channels including SMS, phone and email stewardship including but not limited to: event good luck calls, sponsorship chasing, general fundraising support
• You will have Community and events/fundraising process delivery experience including experience of Raisers Edge (preferable), updating data files
• You will be able to start in the team at short notice

We are hiring! We have a job vacancy for an Early Intervention Project Worker to join Shine.

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place. 

We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms.  You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally. 

Purpose of the role 

• To deliver Shine's Little Stars (funded by The National Lottery Community Fund) project for 0–12-year-olds, supporting early years and younger members with their families, their diagnosis and beyond across the Southern Region. To provide advice, support and guidance to enable people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to access the correct benefits to become financially stable, the right services to improve their health and well-being, and to better co-ordinate their support and independence through a variety of methods. 

• To improve the life wellbeing of children 0-12 years old with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus by promoting independence and providing them and their families with early intervention support. 

• To create a community whereby those affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus can connect with others, are empowered through knowledge and feel confident in the support networks surrounding them.
