Here at The Queen’s Reading Room we are seeking a talented and experienced Operations Director to report directly to our CEO. As Operations Director, you will have strategic oversight of The Queen’s Reading Room’s core operations, act as the charity’s second-in-command and lead our team to be efficient, productive, and effective. The ideal candidate has proven experience of managing a team in a finance, events, operations or development role, and is comfortable in translating strategy into actionable strength for our charity’s growth.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse internal operations and identify growth opportunities for the charity, such as partnerships and venues for events

• Oversee financial planning and evaluations, including budgeting and leading the charity’s annual accounts and audit for the Charity Commission 

• Oversee daily operations of the charity, including Finance, Fundraising, Marketing and Content Production, leading our team to encourage maximum performance

• Helping our Events strategy to strong profitability 

• Keeping an eye on all governance issues, such as policies to implement and update

• Preparing board reports 

• Assist the CEO in fundraising ventures and manage relationships with donors

These cover the central duties of the role, but as we’re a small team the person in this role can also expect to work across many aspects of the charity, including: the creative vision for the charity; helping to design and manage events; helping to devise and manage neuroscience research projects; helping to devise and manage our grassroots strategy to increase the number of people reading in the UK and internationally; helping to devise the creation around national reading campaigns and helping to devise strategy around our content across our social media, website and podcast. 

The goal of the Operations Director position is to secure the functionality of the charity, to drive extensive and long-lasting growth, and to manage our small, dedicated team in their operations. The person joining now will have a direct influence on the long-term direction and legacy of the charity and it’s key that they find that prospect exciting and energising.

Big Issue Changing Lives CIC is looking for an Support and Outreach Assistant to support the direct the direct delivery of services to individuals participating in Big Issue enterprises, including selling the Big Issue magazine. The core of the role is facilitating access for members of our Roma Communities to the Hand Up Service and other local services, resources and networks required to address the barriers they are facing to moving forwards out of poverty. Where local services and resources are not available you will also support the Outreach Team with the delivery of information, guidance and some direct interventions, such as training sessions, directly.

This is self-starter role in which you’ll be responsible for connecting with potential service users within the Roma community, introducing the service to them, sharing information from our Hand Up plus services and supporting them to engage with the core Hand Up service. You’ll be working within a small team of Outreach workers and will work to maintain a set of Service Standards which help maintain the quality of the service nationally.

The role is highly flexible and no two days are the same. You’ll bring your own experience and knowledge to the role, as well as your ability to speak Romanian. We will support you to build on that through an ongoing training and development programme which aims to ensure all Hand Up Service Team members have up to date, relevant, knowledge in key areas including housing, benefits, debt, immigration and more. In the course of a day, you’ll usually be working with service users across multiple of these issues and supporting engagement with a wide range of external agencies such as health services, local authorities, charities and more, to get access to services for those you are supporting.

Your main roles and responsibilities will be:

- Undertake phone and in person outreach to introduce the Hand Up service to Roma Big Issues vendors
- Delivery of direct intervention to Roma vendors using guidance and resources provided
- Join meetings with Roma Vendors and Outreach Workers to support with action planning and provision of support and guidance
- Support with translation and interpretation within your local team to enable accessibility of the service for Roma vendors
- Support the local Hand Up Service to build current knowledge of local and national agencies that can support Roma vendors
- Support the organisation and delivery with Roma Vendors of 1-2-1 and group training sessions and drop-ins
- Ensure that your work meets service standards and targets and complete surveys with vendors as required
- Involving Roma service users in the service design and delivery as local and national opportunities arise

Caudwell Children is a national charity which works to change the lives of disabled and autistic children; change society’s understanding and acceptance of disability; and change public perceptions of the important role that charity plays in society.

Based from the award-winning Caudwell International Children’s Centre in Staffordshire, we seek an experienced relationship manager with the ability to identify opportunities and develop relationships to raise funds which support the charity’s expanding service delivery.

Responsible for the ownership and development of corporate supporter relationships, this role will play a pivotal part in helping to grow the charity’s fundraising income and helping to change the lives of autistic and disabled children across the UK and beyond.

The successful candidate will join a growing team of enthusiastic fundraising professionals aimed at improving the donor experience and growing the charity’s corporate fundraising partnerships income.

About the role 

As Brand Marketing and Integration Lead, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to convey our brand positioning. In the run up to campaign periods, you will lead a multi-disciplinary pop-up squad of senior colleagues, ensuring that all communications provide an exceptional and coherent audience experience. • Manage the campaign budget, making recommendations for how to spend the budget wisely to maximise impact.

• Optimise and develop strategies and frameworks which advance the impact of brand within Save the Children UK.

Deputy Manager

We have a new role available for a Romanian speaking Deputy Manager to join an exciting organisation.

Position: Deputy Manager- Acasă

Location: Westminster and Southwark

Contract: 6 months, with the possibility for extension

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 per week (including late night/early morning outreach up to two shifts a week)

About the Role

You will work with Westminster rough sleeping services, including street outreach and assessment hubs, to identify clients who wish to return and are suitable to be referred into the service. This will include participating in weekly late night/early morning street outreach shifts.

You will assess referrals to ensure prospective clients meet Acasă eligibility criteria, then help them to prepare to reconnect. This will include gathering necessary documentation, making travel arrangements, engaging with consular services and in some instances traveling to the airport.

On occasion you may also link clients up with services that could support them in Romania. You will work with a high degree of autonomy towards delivering outcomes for clients, being flexible in your approach and tailoring the service to individual client’s needs and aspirations.

A personalisation fund will be available to provide some material support to clients. e.g. clothes, short hotel stays and subsistence. This will set up clients to return with dignity and for success in their home country.

Key responsibilities include:

· Ensuring that Acasă delivers excellent performance and a high-quality service with a measurable positive impact

· Working with Depaul colleagues to continuously develop the service, including drafting reports and presentations on the service

· Creating relationships with and working closely with local authority partners, as well as  building relationships with colleagues in central and regional government, as well as organisations in Romania

· Working flexibly, for example by joining late-night and early-morning street outreach shifts

· Responding promptly to referrals, undertaking in-depth assessments to assess suitability for the service and to inform support planning.

· Enabling clients to access support from a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies while they are in the UK

· You will use a personalisation fund to provide clients with material support e.g. clothes, short hotel stays and subsistence

· Managing this fund, as well as the wider budget including travel costs.

· Compiling and presenting monitoring reports for funders

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

· Fluent Romanian speaker.

· An understanding of the particular challenges and discrimination faced by Roma people.

· Experience working and building trust with homeless or vulnerable people.

· Experience in taking responsibility for operating safeguarding requirements and procedures.

· Experience in working under pressure with the ability to respond to conflicting demands, find creative solutions using own initiative.

· Experience in working creatively to tailor services to individuals.

About the Role

Working under the direction and support of a Regional Prevention Services Managers, the Deputy Service Manager will lead a team of client-facing workers to deliver effective and high-quality services that strive to prevent homelessness.  You will be responsible for young people needing longer term placements, as well as sharing responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all hosts and staff at the service.

The postholder will be accountable for the day-to-day aspects of service delivery in line with Depaul’s expectations and procedures. You will oversee all aspects of project delivery of our Supported Lodgings service, including the line management of client-facing workers, supporting the to deliver high-quality services.

Your work will be underpinned by the Depaul Endeavour model of assets based, psychologically informed delivery, the aim of which is to ensure that every client leaves a Depaul service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self determining in their lives.

Key responsibilities include:

•  Ensure every client accessing Supported Lodgings service is welcomed, kept safe and has a suitable support plan for longer term accommodation and support

• You will lead on the assessment of needs and risk, predominantly focused on suitable risk management plans for engagement in Supported Lodgings Services

• Develop and deliver key partnerships with referral agencies and support related projects

• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to continuously review and develop the services under your responsibility

• You will have responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for Supported Lodgings’ guests and volunteers through regular checks and reporting.

• Work with the Regional Prevention Services Manager to monitor project budgets and petty cash systems

• Participate in internal/external local and national meetings and supervision meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary

• Lead on the safeguarding of all clients accessing your services including clients who are not in receipt of support from other staff
