In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong financial control environment, preparing statutory accounts, and managing the audit processes. You will drive continuous improvement within the financial accounting and control function and play a key role in ensuring their finance services deliver the best outcomes for their residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute appropriate financial controls and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of quarterly and annual statutory accounts for group entities, supported by detailed schedules.
• Manage the delivery of interim and final audits for assigned group entities, including conducting analytical reviews of financial statements.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts, group investments, and borrowings on a monthly basis, maintaining up-to-date statutory account schedules.
• Prepare and submit all regulatory returns, including FVA and Companies House filings.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly group control accounts reconciliations.
• Contribute to the quarterly financial health reports for group entities, providing Management and the Audit & Risk Committee with a comprehensive overview of associated risks.
• Support continuous performance improvements across the financial accounting and control function.
• Maintain accurate and detailed financial data using Excel and in-house systems.
• Collaborate with finance business partners and heads of services to ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly control account reconciliations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• CCAB-recognised accounting qualification qualified or part qualified (ACA qualified is desired).
• Extensive experience in preparing regulatory financial returns and managing filings with FVA and Companies House.
• Proven track record in managing interim and year-end audits, with effective coordination with auditors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex data, develop solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with D365 and Power BI is desired.

The Senior Public Affairs and Research Officer will drive policy change to increase surplus food redistribution by engaging with stakeholders across government, media, industry, and academia. The role  

The role will sit within FareShare’s public affairs—part of the wider marcomms team—which is responsible for advocating for policies that create an economic and legislative environment that is beneficial for surplus food redistribution. This will help FareShare achieve its long-term goals of redistributing a higher proportion of the UK’s surplus food and benefiting more communities across the UK.

The Senior Public Affairs and Research Officer will be critical in advancing FareShare’s policy agenda, as outlined in the manifesto. Working closely with the Public Affairs, Policy and Campaigns Consultant, you will lead efforts to engage influential stakeholders, create compelling content, and coordinate high-impact events. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence national policy and contribute to meaningful change in the food redistribution sector.

Key responsibilities 

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government bodies, media, and academia, to advance FareShare’s policy objectives.

Policy, Research, and Briefings: Develop in-depth policy knowledge and produce well-researched briefings and reports articulating FareShare’s policy goals. Identify opportunities for FareShare to feed into Government consultations and Select Committees.

Events: Support the planning and execution of public affairs events, including parliamentary engagements and engagement with industry conferences.

Assistant Accountant

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join the team managing the day-to-day accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, under the supervision of the Finance Manager.

The Role

As Assistant Accountant, you will take a lead role in every aspect of the day-today accounting and financial stewardship of the Church, working in collaboration with the staff team. You will assist with the financial setup of new church plants, ensuring a consistent approach across all of the Church partnership of churches, identifying best-practice and ensuring robust checks and balances are in place as the finance function increases in operational complexity.

Consistency, attention to detail, and best practice are key as this role will also help to establish a centralised resource service, offering a limited range of financial services to other selected churches in the town. This is a hands-on role; the successful applicant will enjoy understanding and implementing the detail of charity and church accounting requirements.

About You

You will be AAT qualified (or equivalent) or have significant appropriate experience and with a demonstrative development of skills.

The Associate Director of Local Fundraising is a senior role within the Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate; a highly ambitious and professional team which is working to grow income and strengthen the organisation’s voice across the UK as the leading end of life care charity in the UK. Marie Curie has ambitious financial growth targets and needs to drive net contribution, engagement and awareness if they are to achieve their fundraising ambitions and subsequently their service growth goals.

The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie.  With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.

The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue. They will also have experience in developing both annual operational and three-year strategic plans, developing creative and innovative solutions and digital marketing and in working with working with volunteers and engaging local communities. This will be combined with a proven track record in managing large high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

The role can, to some extent, be shaped by the skills and experience of the successful candidate, but it is likely to include the following responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts. 

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:

• A proven, demonstrable track record of submitting successful funding applications.
• Experience in successfully fundraising from one or more of trusts, foundations, high value donors and corporates.
• Experience of community and events fundraising, including promoting events and supporting participants.
• Excellent communication writing skills.
• Personal or professional experience of a range of social media channels.
• Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, CRM systems (we use Donorfy))
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with a largely virtual team

Location: The successful candidate will be required to live within a commutable distance to our clients Bradford, Peterborough or Camberley office with travel to other sites as required.

Accountabilities

DAY TO DAY DELIVERY OF EVENTS  

• Responsible for the overall administration of all student events, ensuring student communication is exceptional. Including event management (covering agenda creation and resource/activity development), student and partner communication/coordination, along with posting opportunities and roles in the weekly newsletter.

STUDENT MANAGEMENT & QUERY HANDLING 

• Responsible for the relationship management of the students - including the ability to understand needs, resolve issues, and anticipating and creating a strong relationship on behalf of SEO-London
