As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a crucial role in providing financial insight, advice and support to key stakeholders across the organisation. You will be a trusted adviser to non-finance teams helping them to understand financial data and make informed decisions. You will be a key element of the high-performing and credible finance team, supporting both the Head of Finance, the Management Accountant and the Assistant Accountant in operational finance and in ongoing delivery of accurate financial information on which the business partnering relies.

To be successful in this role you will have strong analytical skills, providing financial analysis, forecasting and budgeting advice to drive performance and operational efficiency. You will have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders across the RCR. Having strong commercial acumen, you will be able to communicate with and influence a range of audiences effectively with an understanding that strong, reliable financial data is the foundation of a successful business and is a primary deliverable.

What you’ll do:

• Deliver a decision support service to managers and directors to deliver improved financial performance outcomes for the RCR.
• Ensure that partners use effective financial controls over their spend and income conforming to RCR’s policies and to optimise RCR’s outcomes.
• Support the partners in the production of outturn forecasts, budgets and multiyear financial plans that conform to RCR’s financial needs.
• Provide effective analytical insight and advice to partners and Head of Finance to maximise the return on investment and support for implementing change to improve outcomes.
• Supporting RCR’s regular financial and non-financial performance reporting with analytical advice, insight and commentaries.
• Support the wider finance team in delivering timely management information
• Help with system development within the finance team such as upgrades
• Cover for the Head of finance in their absence.

What you’ll need:

• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
• Experience of financial business partnering role or accounting role in comparable organisation.
• Excellent commercial skills, including the ability to lead or support negotiations and to influence and motivate others.
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical/non-professional audiences.
• An enquiring and analytical mindset with the ability to spot risks, to dig further to follow up on problems and work through issues to offer practical solutions.
• Experience of collaborative work across functions to support others in delivering tasks and projects.

 About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Skills in partnership management and market assessment in relation to overall positioning with partners.
• Experience, interest and knowledge of current thinking and future trends and thorough understanding of international development issues.
• Proven experience of providing creative and innovative approaches in developing new initiatives that contribute towards partnership objectives.
• Experience in relationship management, working with Governments, donors, trusts and foundations, or equally demanding partners.
• Experience of undertaking industry trend and donor specific research, finding relevant, reliable, and up to date information quickly.

The role:

1. Core New Business activity: Researching and development of prospect lists for priority industries to implement New Business campaigns capable of securing multi-year high value partnerships. What will I be doing?

• Supporting the development of a prospect pipelines of opportunities and identifying and cultivating leads.

• Work with divisionally based and other CRUK staff to maximise supporter activity with a focus on those that will help support national and divisional strategies

• Hitting fundraising targets for CRUK's life saving research.

• Planning and delivering effective rewards and recognition to increase supporter loyalty and income.

*This is a home-based role with significant travel across the patch to maximise community engagement. On average this would be 60 percent out in the field (travelling around your patch meeting supporters) and 40 percent home based. However, this is subject to change based on business need. There will be some evening working required to attend committee meetings however you will get this time back via our time off in lieu policy

What skills will I need?

Trusts and Foundations Manager

 This is a new role at the DEC and developed as a key part of the DEC’s 2024-2029 strategy. The DEC has a wide range of established relationships with trusts and foundations, many of which give 6- and 7-figure sums to DEC appeals. The Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for providing excellent stewardship to our portfolio of trusts and foundations. In addition, the role will also be responsible for cultivating new relationships for the DEC through thorough research, and through the prospect development cycle, to raise money for DEC appeals. In addition to appeal fundraising, the Trusts & Foundations Manager will be responsible for delivering on a new core cost fundraising strategy, in close partnership with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships.

Demonstrable, transferable trusts and foundations experience and knowledge, (preferably within the humanitarian & charity sector), will hold you in good stead for this exciting new role.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Development: Develop and manage the trusts and foundations portfolio and create compelling proposals for future appeals and core costs income. Showcase new ideas and innovative approaches for growing and developing a pipeline of new prospects. Develop engaging stewardship plans.  

Administrative Compliance: Lead and manage, robust and professional grant management, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose, streamlined and accessible. Remain compliant with grant terms and conditions, ensuring you are clearly communicating the unique contours of the DEC model whilst providing comprehensive and inspiring impact reporting.

Relationship Management: Maintain regular contact and collaboration with internal teams to collate a high-quality suite of communication materials and stewardship plans specific to a trust and foundation audience. Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor, measure and evaluate progress against the DEC’s strategic goals and funds raised from trusts and foundations.
