The Role

Reporting into the Funding and Innovation Manager you will support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and secure external funding into SNG communities and to charities we work with.

Key Responsibilities

• To support the Fundraising and Innovation Manager to deliver our fundraising strategy.
• To secure external funding to benefit SNG communities and customer facing teams around the following themes: Financial & Digital Inclusion, Employment and Training, Community Action and Engagement.
• Lead projects, bids and programmes that bring in external funding to SNG communities and to charities benefiting SNG communities.
• Innovate by supporting the testing and piloting of new programmes and partnerships and identify opportunities to the Head of Partnerships and Funding.
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, including funders, businesses, local authorities and national agencies.
• Support the implementation of governance oversight for fundraising and systems and processes.

You should have demonstrable experience in a similar role or have knowledge within fundraising and partnerships. We're also looking for:

• Experience in previous roles of securing external funding via bid writing, public sector tenders and contracts, Trusts and Foundations and corporates.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Persuasive writing and storytelling skills.
• Strong innovation mindset.
• Confident with budget management and financial systems.

About the Role:

Working alongside the Engagement & Growth Manager, the Bid Lead will deliver Blue Triangle’s new Development Strategy as we evolve and change our service models in alignment to the needs of people, communities, and commissioners. The role will cover trusts, foundations and statutory funding applications/tenders.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join SJA’s Bid Team, managing and producing tender responses across a variety of business areas including Commercial Training, First Aid and Health & Safety Supplies, Events, Urgent & Emergency Care, and other services. The role of the Bid Manager is to support the organisation in achieving revenue targets, business growth and strategic objectives through managing the Bid process and ensuring completion of high-quality tenders within the stipulated timeframes. You will maintain and develop a bid library, tender pipeline and supporting processes, sharing best practice and learnings from bids which are won and lost whilst also analysing trends from tenders and recommending improvements or change to optimise the number of bids for which we can tender.

A team player with excellent communications and writing skills you will also possess the ability to prioritise, plan and coordinate projects accurately and assess financial risk as an essential part of this role.

About the Role 

Manage the Bid Management process, ensuring all bid documents meet deadlines and have undergone appropriate levels of scrutiny. Chairing and organising bid kick off meetings with internal stakeholders. You will need to feed the information into the Bid Writer in a timely and organised fashion and ensure all bids are of consistent high quality to meet the customer or commissioner’s expectations.

• You will also, where required, need to lead on writing, creating and preparing expressions of interest, prequalification questionnaires, ITT responses and standalone proposals and presentations working closely with operational/technical specialists within the organisation & ambulance operation to ensure excellence in quality, accuracy and presentation
• Lead on the creation and support bid presentations; including the preparation through to participation of delivery to key decision makers
• Maintain the Bid library working with functions and the operation to collate relevant, up to date supporting information for proposals, ensuring its accuracy and accessibility
• Complete the bid/no bid tool and agree with relevant key stakeholders to ensure any tenders are aligned with both the relevant departments strategy, operational capability e.g. skills, vehicles and capacity

About the Role

We are recruiting a new Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This is a mid-senior level position in the organisation, reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Development. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.

Business Development – Portfolio Management

· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.

· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.

· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.

· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.

· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.

· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.

· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.

· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.

· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.

· Develop relationships with potential new partners and clients.

· Play an active role in building and maintaining relationships with SDDirect’s Associates and network of consultants.

· Own and develop marketing materials that showcase portfolio work.

Bid Production

· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.

· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.

· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.

· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.

· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.

· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.

· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.

· Deliver handover to the Programmes Team for seamless mobilisation.

Communications

· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.

System and Process 

· Support the continuous improvement of BD Team performance.

· Actively participate in development of the BD Team annual workplan and objectives, taking a lead on agreed sections.

· Actively contribute to the development of BD Team systems and processes, proactively improving them where necessary.

The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. The Fundraising Officer supports the generation of income, principally for Groundwork activities across the East of England. Working with business development colleagues and delivery staff  you will help to identify income sources, approach funders and partners, develop and write bids, and contribute towards the annual income of the Trust.

Salary range : £26,182 - £30,832 pro rata (depending on relevant experience)
Term: Min 22.5 hours – Max 25 hours per week, permanent
Location:  East of England, with opportunities for home working

In this role, you will monitor the external funding environment to identify suitable sources of charitable trust and foundation funding and tender opportunities for projects and programmes of activity. You will use your communication skills to write high quality, persuasive copy that brings the charities work to life for potential funders, such as charitable trusts, BIG lottery, local authorities and central government.  In return we offer a supportive working environment, lots of variety in your work and the opportunity to develop your skills and professional knowledge.

Ideally, you will have experience of successful grant funding from Trusts, foundations, lottery distributors or similar, together with demonstrable experience of undertaking high quality research. The Consultant role will support the Director and Mobilise team to coordinate and  deliver a range of projects supporting our clients. This new and exciting role is well suited to an individual that enjoys building new connections, working with and supporting people and organisations to learn and develop, values working to a high standard and wants to bring about change. The post holder's duties will primarily focus on providing capacity building support to third sector organisations alongside organising events, undertaking community outreach, building and maintaining relationships and networks, writing reports based on analysis and research, and engaging with clients and project stakeholders to prepare bids and deliver new work. 

Main Duties:

• Plan and manage projects to ensure activities are delivered effectively to timescale and budget

• Plan and deliver fieldwork, outreach projects and events to engage residents and organisations 

• Work as part of a team to deliver projects with associates and partner companies

• Undertake research and data collection, including resident engagement activities

• Lead and support the design and delivery of workshops, training opportunities, and resources to support NFP organisations on a range of key capacity building areas 

• Undertake organisational health checks and keep accurate and up to date records

• Undertake monitoring and evaluation activities

• Help create content and materials for communications purposes and social media

• Work closely with project leads to prepare reporting and supporting documents

• Support the development of Mobilise Public Ltd and its people, including supporting the development of tenders and proposals

• Any other tasks as directed commensurate to the role 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required (Essential) 

• Supporting/Working with or in not for profit (NFP) organisations, in particular voluntary, community and/or social enterprises 

• Knowledge of key areas that create a strong and sustainable NFP organisation

• Knowledge or experience of working with NFP organisations of different sizes from grassroots to key anchor and national level organisations and a clear understanding of their current challenges

• Facilitating and developing or supporting events, workshops, focus groups or other similar activities

• Delivering fieldwork and outreach approaches to successfully recruit and engage a wide range of people and organisations

• Help identify an organisation’s development needs

• Excellent people skills that enable you to work sensitively and build trust to develop working relationships with a diverse range of people, organisations and clients from different sectors

• Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and present information clearly and confidently

• Works to a high standard with attention to detail, management and organisation

• Effectively use a range of software including Microsoft Office, Google, and ideally other digital/online platforms 

• Self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as part of a strong team and work on multiple projects

• Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

• Experience at undertaking organisational diagnostics and/or skills audit and developing learning plans

• Experience of working in or with social housing and local government organisations

• Experience of designing and delivering successful training or coaching sessions to successfully build the capacity of NFP organisations in person and virtually 

• Developed tools and resources for NFP sector organisations

• Experience or involvement in civil society – working with communities, volunteering,  fundraising, community organising etc 

• Expertise in data analysis, IT systems

• Knowledge or experience of digital engagement tools, social media, and/or AI as pertinent to the role

• Strong analytical skills

• Experience in creating and analysing surveys

Key Terms 

• Salary Range: £27,500-£38,000 (FTE), depending on experience 

• Negotiable full or part time hours – (minimum of 0.6 FTE). The role is open to compressed working in accordance with the needs of the job 

• Home and remote working with one day or more per week at a shared office

• Some travel required within London and England which may include overnight stays according to the needs of contracts (anticipated travel days 2-3 days per month)

• Occasional evening / weekend work required 

• 25 days paid leave per year plus bank holidays (pro rata) 

• Statutory sick leave & pension contributions

• Probationary period applies (3 months) 

• Notice period 2 months (1 month during probation)
