We are seeking a part-time Family Practitioner who will support families with blind and partially sighted children and young people to develop improved emotional wellbeing, resilience, and coping strategies.
This post will cover Central and Southern London, so the ability to travel across the city will be an advantage. You’ll be part of a remote England and Wales wide Family Practitioner team, who work closely together to draw on each other’s skills and experience to ensure families receive the best service from RSBC.
The team link together to run online groups that further support families, and this work may be in the evenings. The team meet weekly online and come together in person for two-day team training at our London office at least twice a year.
The main purpose of this role is to:
· To establish and maintain a case load of families with blind and partially sighted children and young people aged 0 to 25 who identify themselves as needing support.
· To undertake family assessments to identify specific areas of need; to identify and deliver appropriate interventions that will promote children’s development and emotional wellbeing in collaboration with family members and make and support onward referrals as required.
· To ensure that support is high quality and meets the high standard that RSBC sets, with pre agreed performance indicators.
The ideal candidate will ideally have a qualification that demonstrates the ability to establish a trusting and open relationship with families and CYP. You’ll be experienced in providing emotional wellbeing support with families directly and have knowledge of child development from experience or qualification. You’ll know about family systems/systemic practice – from experience or qualification as well as knowledge and practical experience of using family centred interventions in collaboration with families. We’d like you to have excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong teamwork ethic to fit in with our friendly and knowledgeable team of Family Practitioners across England and Wales.

BBC Children in Need have appointed an independent learning partner to work along The Children's Society, Children 1st and MACS to identify what we are learning across the programme nationally. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring your work with children and their families is recorded accurately and that the themes from this work are fed into the national learning that is utilised to create positive system changes for children who are struggling
Key responsibilities;
-To deliver 1-1 face-to-face, digital and telephone support to children, aged 8 - 13 struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing and their parents/carers where applicable.
-To assess and support children's self-management of their recovery through step care approach, including informal assessment and Goal Based outcomes for service users.
-To build positive and effective relationships with family members, in particular parents and carers, in order to support their children with their emotional health and wellbeing.
-Where appropriate, to offer interventions directly to parents/carers with the aim of improving the child's emotional health and wellbeing.
-Ensure accurate and timely case recording using a variety of management recording systems. The role does require good administration skills.
-To contribute to the overall monitoring and evaluation of the programme including but not limited to; supporting children and families to share their voice and experience, recording of data and outcomes and gathering feedback from children, parents and carers.
-Identifying risks and/or managing disclosures of a safeguarding nature ensuring that referrals are made whilst escalating where appropriate in line with TCS's safeguarding policy.

Skills and Qualifications

This is a training position with the post holders undertaking training at Kings College London as well as working in our face to face frontline Mental Health Support Teams in schools and/or community services. Information about the Training & the Job Role
This is a fixed term post with this training year funded by the NHS. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end however we will seek recurrent funding. Applicants will be encouraged to stay within their existing service providers or apply for vacant posts within our services and will be provided support and advice in job applications.
This full-time role will be best suited for applicants who are able to balance a busy work and study schedule, with frequent travel across different sites for university and work. You will be an employee at CDI or OTR but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study and perform at academic level. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically 2 days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near the start) and will be a mixture of in person and online sessions. Applicants must be willing to travel into London to attend their lectures.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Person Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT) Education Mental Health Practice (EMHP) & Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)
All applicants to the programmes above will be required to undertake Postgraduate Diploma level training at Kings College London alongside a work placement. Please note that you will need to submit an application form to Kings College London for a place on the Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Person Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT), in addition to the job application that you make to us. It is strongly advised to submit an early application to prevent the delay of a decision.
Following success at the job interview all trainees will be required to attend teaching for up to three days per week for one year. Teaching and lectures will be mostly based at King’s College London Campus in Denmark Hill. Students will be taught using a combination of lecture style workshops and small group seminars. Assessment on the programme will comprise of a combination or written, oral and video assessments. On successful completion of the course, students will graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Mental Health Practice or Children’s Wellbeing Practice.

The Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) programme is a one-year postgraduate diploma course and is part of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Psychological Training Programmes (previously CYP IAPT). The programme trains graduate entry mental health practitioners to work in educational settings offering help for common difficulties in children and young people including anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties, primarily with a focus on CBT-informed evidence-based guided self-help interventions. The EMHP Programme Director role sits within the Education and Training Division at Anna Freud within the Workforce Programmes stream in Post-Graduate Studies.
The post-holder will deliver a high quality, academically coherent and inclusive programme curriculum in line with the evolving EMHP National Curriculum, UCL and British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation standards.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of implementing CBT-informed interventions for low mood and anxiety as well evidence-based interventions for behavioural difficulties in educational settings; have a strong, demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and education and have experience in curriculum design, assessment and teaching in Higher Education.

The Children's Society is delighted to embark on an exciting new partnership with BBC Children in Need in partnership with The Health Foundation and Impact on Urban Health to develop and deliver an innovative programme to improve children's mental health.
The funding is going to create a brand-new early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families within marginalised communities. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.
The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited psychosocial interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focused approached to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing app “Me Time”.
About the role
We are looking for a creative, empathetic and organised practitioner who has experience of working with children and families around their wellbeing. You'll have excellent relational skills and have the ability to quickly build positive and trusting relationships with children and their families.
The role will be responsible for engaging children aged 8-13 and their parents, carers and family members where appropriate. You will deliver short term interventions to children who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing. These interventions will be face-to-face, over the phone and utilising our wellbeing app “Me Time”. The role will also work in partnership with other organisations and agencies such as schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs), GPs and early help services.
In addition to working within your local team in the North West, you'll also form part of the National Programme, where you'll have the opportunity to connect with colleagues working across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Resolve@ service is a piece of work offering a service to support children and young people (CYP) who are requiring support with their emotional and mental health wellbeing, following an experience of Domestic Violence Abuse.
The nature of the service means that the CYP accessing Resolve@ require intensive support to be provided during out of hours and weekends. The service holds no waiting lists and therefore the ability to build relationships quickly, identify risks, and process further support is vital.

The Children's Society is delighted to embark on an exciting new partnership with BBC Children in Need in partnership with The Health Foundation and Impact on Urban Health to develop and deliver an innovative programme to improve children's mental health.
The funding is going to create a brand-new early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families within marginalised communities. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.
The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited psychosocial interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focussed approached to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing app “Me Time”.
About the role
We are looking for a creative, empathetic and organised practitioner who has experience of working with children and families around their wellbeing. You'll have excellent relational skills and have the ability to quickly build positive and trusting relationships with children and their families.
The role will be responsible for engaging children aged 8-13 and their parents, carers and family members where appropriate. You will deliver short term interventions to children who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing. These interventions will be face-to-face, over the phone and utilising our wellbeing app “Me Time”. The role will also work in partnership with other organisations and agencies such as schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHs), GPs and early help services.
In addition to working within your local team in Leeds you'll also form part of the National Programme, where you'll have the opportunity to connect with colleagues working across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

About the Role:
As a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be responsible for delivering targeted, person-centred interventions for individuals within SHP’s Camden Adult Pathway Hostels. Your role will involve holding a designated caseload and working closely with the wider client group through our in-house recovery programme. With a strong focus on harm minimisation, dual diagnosis, and strengths/recovery frameworks, you’ll help to empower service users to make positive changes and progress towards independence.
This is a unique role that requires you to build relationships of trust with service users, many of whom have faced significant barriers such as mental health challenges, substance use, and complex trauma. Your support will enable them to access crucial assessments, interventions, and treatments, enhancing their ability to utilise external statutory and community resources. You will also provide guidance and best practice standards to Project Workers, helping to set a benchmark of excellence in delivering complex needs support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist interventions and personalised support for service users, including those with complex needs such as mental health issues, substance use, and physical health challenges.
- Develop and implement person-centred support plans, monitor individual progress, and ensure best practice is adhered to within the service.
- Work dynamically with service managers, project workers, and other professionals within the Camden Accommodation Pathway to deliver tailored interventions and improve outcomes for service users.
- Foster proactive working relationships with Adult Social Care, Health, Mental Health, and other specialist providers to improve access and opportunities for service users.

About You:

- A strong understanding of the health and social care sector, including how to navigate between and across specialties. A deep understanding of the barriers service users face on their journey towards independence, such as domestic violence, anger management, and learning impairments.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As a Social Welfare & Digital Support Adviser, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive advice, casework support, and digital support to the residents of Tower Hamlets. As a dedicated and empathetic Social Welfare Advice & Digital Support Adviser, your role will be essential in empowering individuals with complex and multiple needs, helping them navigate the intricacies of the welfare benefits system and access the financial support they deserve. Additionally, you will provide vital digital support to enable clients to manage their welfare claims online, enhancing their digital confidence and independence. Through a holistic approach that incorporates social, cultural, financial, and digital issues, you will address the diverse needs of our clients, ensuring they receive well-rounded support and are equipped to navigate the online systems essential to managing their welfare benefits.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Holistic Client Assessment and Support - Conduct detailed, confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs for advice and support, including digital needs.
- Comprehensive Needs Assessment - Assess various aspects such as financial situation, social welfare entitlements, debt, digital literacy, and other significant issues affecting clients and their families.

- Application Assistance - Assist clients in completing application forms, mandatory reconsideration, appeals, and other paperwork related to social welfare benefits, money and debt, funding, and grants, both in person and online.
- Tailored Client Support - Ensure that services are adapted to the needs of each client, considering communication, digital abilities, understanding, and vulnerabilities, while supporting their navigation through online platforms.

Change Mental Health is a leading national mental health charity providing unique support to people with severe and enduring mental ill health. The Community Link Worker service collaborates with selected GP surgeries, supporting adults over the age of 18 through social prescribing. Referrals are received from the GP to our Community Link Workers when there might be a concern caused by social factors, rather than a medical problem. The service focuses on improving health outcomes for people experiencing stressors in their lives due to social problems, which could lead to poor mental health.
As a Community Link Worker, you will work directly with people referred to the Community Link Worker Service from their GP Practice who require immediate or on-going emotional, practical or vocational support in order to deliver the best possible health outcomes.
This post works directly with people using the service to develop and review personal support plans. You will work closely with other members of the Community Link Worker team, colleagues in Primary Care and representatives of community-based groups and organisations, to achieve outcomes as defined by your line manager.
Within the Community Link Worker team there is a clear line management structure which supports and shapes the practice. The post will contribute to an environment where people can improve their health outcomes, establish improved connections in their communities, and enhance their quality of life.
