Purpose and Scope of the Role

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Casework and Advice

• Provide one-to-one support, advice, and advocacy for clients on immigration, asylum, and welfare-related matters.
• Ensure casework is conducted professionally, accurately recorded, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and ensure clients' needs are met in a sensitive and satisfactory manner.
• Support and mentor volunteers where required.
• Stay up to date with legal and policy changes relevant to the sector.

Teamwork and Collaboration

• Work closely with senior colleagues to drive efficiency and improve service delivery.
• Represent RMC at external meetings and events when required.
• Maintain strong working relationships with partners, stakeholders, and external agencies.
• Share knowledge and best practices within the team to create a collaborative working environment.

Training and Development

• Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
• Keep accurate records of training attended and share learning with colleagues.

Terms and conditions of employment

The following conditions of service will apply:

Salary

£23,500 – £25,00 (dependent on experience)

Location

Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall or Dudley

Pension

RMC will contribute 3% of gross basic salary

Holidays

21 days per year plus public holidays pro rata for part-time post.  Holiday entitlement increases to 24 days after 2 years and 29 days after 5 years

Hours of Work

35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks). Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu should be claimed

Probation

This post will have a probationary period of 6 months

One month’s notice of termination of employment on either side.

Flexibility

In order to deliver the stated aims of this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties will fall within the scope of the job within the appropriate pay grade. Lead Emotional Health & Wellbeing Practitioner (with rotational lead areas of responsibility)

Emotional Health and Wellbeing services opening hours support the needs of the communities in which we work, and therefore there are elements of unsociable hours - this includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays working shift patterns including alternating Saturdays.

The post holder will support Children, Young People, and Young Adults across our Emotional Health & Wellbeing services by offering low intensity support under a brief intervention framework.

The nature of the Emotional Health & Wellbeing services the ability to build relationships quickly, identify risks, and process further support is vital.

-Experience of management and supervision of staff and volunteers: (following the necessary training and support

Our client has an exciting opportunity for you to broaden your current skills, knowledge and experience as a Children’s Worker at their Derbyshire Project, which is a part of the wider group in the South Derbyshire and Amber Valley areas. 

Project Information 
 

They provide refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. Their services include: 

• Refuge (including both communal refuge and dispersed (Individual safe accommodation) which is offered to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse. 

• Community based outreach support working with women and men living in the local community who are living with the impact of domestic abuse. 

• Specialist support for children who are of have experienced domestic abuse (both refuge and community based support are available). 
  

The Role 

No two days will be the same, so if you like variety this may be the ideal role for you! 

As a Children’s worker, you will provide structured support to children, young people and their families who have experienced domestic abuse. You will be confident liaising with stakeholders eg. schools, social care. You will also be responsible for completing a healthy relationship programme of work, Safety Planning, and Signposting children and families to appropriate support. 

You will be able to demonstrate working knowledge of safeguarding procedures for adults, children and responsibilities, in relation to information sharing including multi-agency working. In addition, you will be expected to effectively communicate sensitive and complex issues with a range of people and have the ability to manage your own case-load. 

Requirements 

You will recognise the impact domestic abuse can have on children, young people and their families, also have an understanding of risk assessing. In addition, the ideal candidates will: 

• Be friendly, approachable, and flexible. 

• Have great communication skills 

• Relevant numeracy and literacy qualification and knowledge of basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office packages) 

• Hard-working and a team player 

• Experience in Domestic Abuse preferred, but not essential.

About this exciting opportunity

The Police Custody In-Reach Service has recently launched across two main custody suites at Perry Barr & Oldbury. We have embedded credible lived experienced and culturally competent workers into the custody suites to use the arrest as a reachable moment to engage with CYP under 25 years of age of any gender that have been arrested for criminal activities, gangs, and related issues such as carrying weapons, drug related offences, violence and county lines and wider exploitation concerns. The service provided uses a trauma-informed approach to support in a number of areas (e.g., housing, finances, substance misuse, mental health, training, employment, family matters). Initial contact is made in custody suites, followed by meeting in the community to provide tailored support.

You will provide a high-level service to young people 11-25 impacted by gangs, youth violence, county lines and exploitation as either victims or perpetrators. You will help each young person to identify and realise alternative aspirations and goals to support them to establish lifestyles that move them away from criminal activities, gang involvement, violence, and negative life choices.

What we are looking for

•  Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families.
• Experience of engaging positively and deter young people aged 11-25 in custody from offending once they have been identified as being involved in a violence related incident, being at risk of exploitation or gang affiliated.
• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused.
• Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and the ability to assess clients’ needs.

Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. The salary base may change due to your previous experience related to the position, or your experience in animal advocacy (+3% for each year). In addition, the salary increases with your seniority in Open Cages according to the following model:

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as a campaigner who focuses on communications, you will work on the frontlines by shining a light on the hidden suffering of animals trapped on factory farms, and mobilising the public to take action. Your first task will be to help us convince the UK’s largest food businesses to improve their chicken welfare policies, primarily through crafting media stories and marketing campaigns that capture the hearts and minds of the public.

While this may sound challenging, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a historic change for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Someone has to pick up the fight, and we hope it will be You.

How Will You Make a Difference? 

Amna is seeking a compassionate and experienced Arabic speaking facilitator to join Amna’s team of trainers, with therapeutic/clinical background. As a Trainer & Facilitator your responsibilities will involve delivering training sessions and group facilitation to support and create learning spaces for training participants on themes centred around trauma and identity informed psychosocial healing care with displaced communities. The role holder is expected to work on multiple responses, and will lead Amna’s Gaza and Syria responses, while working closely with Arabic speaking team members.  

Amna’s identity and trauma informed approach is centred around community healing practices with communities that aim to restore participants sense of safety, belonging, agency and joy. Amna services are co-created with the communities being worked with and we prioritise refugee participation and leadership in service design and delivery wherever possible. 

The role holders need to have experience working with communities affected by adversity, including displacement, war and conflict, poverty, abuse or marginalisation. Given the nature of Amna’s work in emergency settings with displaced communities, applicants need to be comfortable working in environments where there is uncertainty, change and exposure to distress.  

Specifically, successful candidates will have a strong experience in following areas: 

1. Work with children and families in an emergency context; 

1. Therapeutic experience – Individual and Groups; 

1. Community work experience; 

1. Designing and delivering trainings across different context; 

Amna will train role holders in Amna’s training and facilitation approach.

Responsibilities include: 

• To deliver high quality, interactive trainings in person and online.

  Qualifications and Experience:  

• Minimum three years of experience working therapeutically with communities affected by adversities. 

• Minimum three years of experience delivering therapeutically informed community programmes in emergency or acute contexts using creative tools. 

• Experience working in a therapeutically informed way, e.g. working with sensitivity to the needs and experiences of the communities worked with.   

• Comfortable working in English – spoken and written.  

• Comfortable in designing and delivering content in Arabic.

• Confident computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.  

• Able and willing to travel for work (if you have travel restrictions to some countries, please notify us in your application).

• Right to work in the country of residency.  

Desirable: 

• Life or work experience with refugee or/and displaced communities.

Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as a campaigner you will be both strategising and spending time on the frontlines, by talking to the biggest companies, producing investigative reports and giving media interviews. Your first task will be to help us convince the UK’s largest food businesses to improve their chicken welfare policies through public and behind-the-scenes advocacy. While this may sound challenging, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a historic change for those who cannot stand up for themselves.
