About Victoria Hall Harrow
The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets.
For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more.
More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities.
In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

Role Summary
As our first CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Victoria Hall. You will be responsible for leading the organisation through this exciting transition, working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, partners, and the wider community. This is a unique opportunity to build on our rich history and create a vibrant community hub that makes a real difference in people's lives.
The charity is in a solid financial position, which will enable us with the correct leadership in place to make real progress in our Vision and Mission. Our premises are new and extremely high quality, and very well located. There is a serious lack of high quality community space in Harrow, and we know already that there is significant demand and interest from a whole range of groups who serve the local diverse community.
You will lead us in identifying what the most important and pressing needs are in our local community, and how best to meet those using our resources. You will create effective and impactful partnerships with local residents, community groups and charities, plus businesses and the statutory sector, to meet the needs identified.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fundraising Manager to lead our friendly fundraising team. Focusing on developing our Events, Community and Individual Giving income, whilst developing relationships with individuals across the UK, to raise funds and increase the profile of the charity.
About the job
Leading the Meningitis Now Fundraising team, you will oversee delivering an annual programme of fundraising and income generating activities, including an exciting national events programme, community development programme, and individual giving programme. Supporting the team in reaching the income targets for the charity as well as delivering a strategy to grow sustainable income.
The role will have a focus on Community, Events and Individual Giving fundraising. Involving the delivery of our national events programme, supporter organised activities and our Individual Giving Programme including direct marketing, and in memory fundraising.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the fundraising team to deliver the expected income for the charity. The post holder will be expected to draw on their experience of developing relationships with a wide range of people to ensure that Meningitis Now is the beneficiary of choice across all fundraising activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Deliver an annual Fundraising operational plan and meet financial target
- Deliver and develop a Fundraising strategy with the aim of growing income and the number of active supporters over time
- Manage the fundraising team as a whole, including Senior Fundraising Officers and Fundraising Officers with direct Line management to the Senior Fundraising Officers
- Ensuring the team are well supported, motivated and have clear objectives and opportunities for personal development
- Manage the team to ensure that the resources are directed to areas that will achieve the greatest return on investment
- Develop Meningitis Now’s fundraising messaging, including a consistent and compelling case for support
- Create and implement successful marketing plans using a range of communication channels to drive fundraising enquiry numbers, conversions and ultimately income

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Administration
· Maintain all financial records and data accurately and within agreed systems outlined in the DSWF Financial Handbook’s processes and controls
· Maintain up to date records on the finance system (Sage 50)
· Monitor and record income from all sources and ensure accurate and timely recording, including fund allocations
· With the fundraising team, ensure accurate and timely recording of income into the Raiser’s Edge CRM
· Daily reconciliation of all bank, control and intercompany accounts to Sage
· Banking of cheques and petty cash control in a timely manner
· Maintain the purchase ledger including receipt of invoices and expense claims, authorisations, cost coding and posting into the Sage system
· Process all bank payments, card payments and direct debits
· With the CFO, provide support to the Conservation team in analysing project financial reports, making grant payments and preparing financial reports for donors
· Liaise with the Art team over the production of sales invoices for the subsidiary Trading company as well as processing of e-commerce and offline sales
· Provide support to the fundraising team in the financial elements of event planning (including hardware and processes for receiving income at events) and producing full financial reconciliations and ROI reporting at the conclusion of each event
· With the CFO, provide support to the fundraising team in producing budgets for applications for funding
· Manage the negotiation of card and transaction fees with payment providers
· Complete month end accounts checklist and relevant journals to trial balance
· With the CFO, prepare monthly management accounts for SMT and staff
· Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns for the charity (using partial exemption principles) and the trading subsidiary
· Liaise with the fundraising team to ensure gift aid is maximised for every income stream and produce and submit gift aid claims on a monthly basis
Budget Management
· Support the preparation of the annual income and expenditure budgets
· Ensure income and costs are allocated correctly per agreed budget and highlight areas of variance
Annual Audit
· Preparation of papers for annual audit in conjunction with the CFO
· During audit be the main contact for collating all documentation and samples requested by auditors
Financial control systems
· Ensure financial policies and processes are fit for purpose, developing new ones where appropriate and deriving and implementing improvements to existing ones

About the Role

About You

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Partnership Manager to join Action Against Hunger UK’s Corporate Partnerships team. The position holder will report to the Senior Partnership Manager and be responsible for leading the development and delivery of global and national partnerships, with a suite of partners worth c£750,000 per year. The postholder will have a proven track record of growing corporate income, with expertise in leading the management of both commercial and strategic partnerships. They will also be comfortable and confident building relationships with senior management and influencing to ensure partnership success and alignment with Action Against Hunger’s ambitions.
