Bright Futures UK is the first and only charity to support young people experiencing long term illness, back into education. Working with young people from the ages of 5-24 who have both long-term physical, chronic and mental health illnesses. We work to create different educational and social programmes of support, including Tutoring, Befriending and Career Mentoring programmes. We work with some of the biggest hospital trusts not only in London but in the UK, including UCLH, Great Ormond Street.

THE JOB:

Join us as a Programme Coordinator and become an integral part of our mission to transform the lives of young people suffering from illness in education. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills in the charity sector while contributing to various essential areas of our programme delivery, such as program administration, programme development, assistance with fundraising, partnerships and growth and volunteer coordination. You'll receive support and guidance as you grow in these responsibilities. We're seeking a dedicated individual who embodies organisation, proactivity, and a compassionate demeanor. Your role will be instrumental in helping Bright Futures UK develop and expand into a nationwide charity. The programmes coordinator is a newly created role in the team, and will work closely with the whole programmes team to provide effective programme administrative support. This is therefore, an exciting opportunity for someone looking to get involved in all areas of an emerging and fast-growing charity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to swiftly assess and manage referrals which are sent to Bright Futures UK, ensuring no one falls through the cracks and every individual gets the support they need.
• Managing matching administration between young people and volunteers to set them up in their programmes.
• Managing introductions between young people and their volunteers, helping to break the ice and be a friendly face for both parties.
• Support ongoing relationships between volunteers and young people by maintaining frequent communication and gathering feedback ensuring that each program runs productively and positively.
• Assisting where needed on development projects and being creative with resource expansion.
• Helping to support the Workshop Manager where needed in the creation and development of in hospital workshops.
• Monitor and support the creation of new volunteer adverts as needed.
• Assisting and attending events, where you'll have the chance to share our mission first-hand and inspire others to join our cause

The new Children, Community & Youth Support Role provides operational support to the community and youth activities of St Peter de Beauvoir and areas of St Peter’s work amongst low income and estate communities, including our Community Organising, Crafty Church, Warm Welcome and Parish Nurse projects, and other community and children-focussed activities. 

Employment Type: 0.4 FTE (Two days a week, some flexibility for evenings and weekends may be required and some or all Sunday mornings). 

Responsible to: The PCC of St Peter de Beauvoir

Salary: £12,000 per annum

Duration: Two-year fixed term, renewable for two further years with available funding.

This role includes responsibility for co-ordinating volunteers for Crafty Church, our primary-school aged children offer and occasionally leading Crafty Church activities dependent on volunteer recruitment and availability.

Job Summary: 

The Community, Children and Youth Operational Support role is an exciting opportunity that aims to support the projects in the life of St Peter’s which may particularly serve those from estate and low income communities in the parish of St Peter de Beauvoir Town. This role has been enabled by a grant from the Hackney & Islington Programme and supports the Diocese of London 2030 vision. This role is line managed by St Peter’s Community Organiser.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a gifted administrator
• Have experience of organising events and project-management
• Have experience of working with children and young people, especially in Church or Church Primary school contexts
• Have a passion for connecting Church activities with those who may have previously been marginalised from the life of the Church, especially amongst low income and estate communities

Main Duties

• to provide operational support to St Peter’s Community Organiser and other staff members
• to convene and provide support to volunteers to lead Crafty Church sessions each Sunday morning during school terms, and to lead Crafty Church sessions on a regular basis as necessary depending on the availability of volunteers
• to undertake report writing and provide financial administration as necessary for the Hackney and Islington Programme within St Peter de Beauvoir Town
• to provide operational support as appropriate to Warm Welcome, Parish Nursing, and other community and children-focussed activities
• to undergo community organising training (if not done so already) in order to be able to assist in the training of local leaders and congregation members in community organising 
• to support convening small groups and local actions to discern and meet identified need to enable action to be taken together to deliver social and community change
• to support the creation of spaces and opportunities to meet spiritual needs of residents of estates and low income communities in addition to signposting to existing services and activities currently taking place at St. Peter’s. 

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience of working with children and young people

This role is community-based and focuses on engaging kinship carers, bringing them together to form Peer Support Groups, and supporting them to achieve independence at which point they will receive ongoing support from our national Hub.

You’ll create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community for kinship carers, building belonging, resilience, and empowerment.

Funded by the Department of Education, the National Peer Support Service is a game-changing service that creates a sustainable and life-changing legacy. It builds on Kinship’s 10 years of experience in developing peer support groups and two years of delivering a national service that has set up 145 new groups.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an individual located in easy reach of Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire, who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to:

· Develop new Peer Support Groups across a diverse range of communities

· Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to achieve key targets and objectives

· Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the development of safe and effective support services for the kinship community.

· Maintain current Peer Support Group levels, taking the lead from the national Hub.

· Maintain accurate records that are used to populate reports, identify learning and share key insights across Kinship that allow the organisation to continuously improve our services and products.

You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey towards sustainability.

As a practical thinker, you will work creatively to identify stakeholders and assets in areas of high need. You will build local connections and bring together kinship carers across the region, empowering them to build resilient and robust peer support communities.

You will be confident in building relationships that generate referrals from external stakeholders and in contacting kinship carers directly to secure engagement with local coffee mornings, community, and training events that will help kick-start a thriving peer support group.

As you establish new groups, you will provide support and training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop their group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.

We are ideally looking for candidates based in easy reach of Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire. Key development areas for this post will initially include; Oldham, Bury, Tameside, Doncaster, York and the East Riding of Yorkshire. You may be required to support the development of groups in North Lincolnshire. This role may also involve work to establish groups on the periphery of this area that currently have no dedicated Development staff.

An essential requirement of the role is to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Key responsibilities: 

Service delivery:

• In-person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.
• Set up and develop sustainable in person peer support groups, initially attending and leading sessions in person before transition to self-sufficiency. 
• Working with existing groups that are at risk, closed or need support that need replacing or rejuvenating to maintain DfE service level agreement, in addition to new groups. Targets are subject to change and are not fixed. 
• Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups.
• Assist with the delivery of training to support group leaders and groups to become self-sufficient.
• Develop strong boundaried and positive relationships with support group leaders – building resilience, empowerment and community.
• Support established groups (including independent) in your area to access support group leader networks and training (this includes visiting groups in person) to build a peer community. 
• Follow (and where appropriate support further development off) the service blueprint to develop sustainable peer support groups.
• Collaborate with the Peer Support Hub team to provide a joined-up and positive user experience for kinship carers.
• Manage special interest groups and regional online groups as required, transitioning to ‘Hub’ team for sustainability and work with partners.

• Accurately record all recruitment, contact information and volunteer case management in Salesforce in line with service framework and data protection requirements.
• Ensure accurate data entry in Salesforce to support service performance, evaluation and learning.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential, as this role may require travel across London and its periphery to reach areas in need of dedicated support.

Key responsibilities:

We are excited to be working with Wellbeing of Women to recruit for a newly created role. As Philanthropy Executive you will be responsible for growing income from events, mid level donors, major donors and trusts and foundations.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a fully qualified Accountant.

• Significant experience in communicating complex financial issues to enable individuals with little financial knowledge to understand the key messages.
• Significant experience of leading on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

About the Role 

We are now recruiting for an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Specialist to lead on planning and delivering Hibiscus’ work on racial and intersectional inequalities in the Criminal Justice and Immigration systems. 

Development, research and report writing will be a key aspect of this role; the successful candidate will be responsible for drafting policy recommendations, reports, and consultation responses on issues related to Black and minoritised migrant women in contact with the Criminal Justice and Immigration systems. Supporting the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, they will engage and develop relationships with key political and parliamentary stakeholders, developing and delivering a variety of public affairs initiatives to inform decision-makers and influence policy in Criminal Justice, Immigration and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sectors. The post holder will prepare press releases and statements to address prison and immigration reforms, identifying the gaps of adequate support for women, and will analyse external and internal quantitative and qualitative data relevant to our work.

As part of the role, the Policy and Public Affairs Specialist will be responsible for raising awareness and creating content on the treatment of Black and minoritised migrant women within the Criminal Justice System. The post holder will identify opportunities for influence, monitor trends and developments, and prepare communications, reports and policy briefings to help ensure our work has an impact.

The post holder will also be responsible for leading Hibiscus’ partnership work on the Women’s Justice Reimagined project, advocating for the reimagination of the Criminal Justic System. They will build on Hibiscus’ policy work to raise our profile within advisory and working groups, creating alliances with other organisations in the sector and collaborating with other specialist and third-sector organisations to campaign for policy change and increase policy and decision-makers awareness of the issues Hibiscus works on.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience working in the UK political context to influence change, with demonstrable experience in developing and implementing public affairs strategies and building relationships with policy makers to inform decision making in government and across the Criminal Justice and Immigration sectors. 

The candidate will have knowledge and experience in collecting quantitative and qualitative research methods to produce evidence-based reports, press statements, and legislative policy briefings. They will have in-depth knowledge of UK legislation and government institutions related to Criminal Justice, VAWG and Immigration sectors and an ability to analyse government and public policy reports to provide accurate and accessible briefings.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong self-awareness and ability to prioritise workloads whilst working collaboratively with colleagues.

They will demonstrate a commitment to Hibiscus's ethos aims and objectives, including having an intersectional and anti-racist approach to the work and a comprehensive understanding of one of more of Hibiscus’ key work areas.

QuarterFive are delighted to be partnering with The Orpheus Centre, which supports young disabled adults to live and work as independently as they are able. They do this through developing their confidence and independent living skills, using arts-based, bespoke learning, work experience and supported living programmes delivered from their base in Surrey. All of their learners are learning disabled and some are also physically disabled.

The Orpheus Centre is located at a beautiful converted farm that provides teaching and performance spaces and self-contained accommodation. However, their success in enabling these young people to thrive means that they are over subscribed every year and have outgrown the current facilities.

The capital appeal will convert a building next to the Centre to allow for more learners to enrol, in particular more learners with more complex needs. Currently, the quiet phase is projected for 2024-2027, with the build phase being projected for 2027-2029.

The Head of Capital Appeal will sit on the SMT, reporting to the CEO, and be responsible for leading a small team of fundraisers also dedicated to raising funds for the build. While there will be a team to support, the Head of Capital Appeal will spend most of their time personally fundraising as well. There are existing opportunities, including a well-connected President (also the Founder), a Capital Appeal Committee which will be set up, and an existing pool of donors. A focus on new business, however, will also be crucial for the success of the project.

As Head of Capital Appeal, you will: 

• Develop, implement and monitor the private and public phases of the capital appeal strategy to enable the Orpheus Centre to meet the appeal target
• Establish a high performing capital appeal committee of volunteers to cultivate and steward potential significant donors
• Deliver target income from a range of sources, primarily major donors, trusts and foundations and statutory sources, but not discounting other viable income streams
• Personally secure significant major gifts for the capital project
• Design, recruit and lead a team of fundraisers to support on fundraising for the capital project
• Research and identify potential funders for the capital project
• Work closely with the build project team, to ensure clear communication between the funding and the building of the project
• Provide timely reports for Senior Management Team and Trustees to facilitate effective cash flow management and decision making

Ideal skills and experience:

• Significant experience in a senior high value fundraising role
• Demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure major gifts
• Extensive track record in working with trusts, major donors and statutory funders
• Experience of line managing teams of fundraisers
• Ability to adapt to different audiences, including donors, senior volunteers, team members, learners and all colleagues in the wider organisation
• Experience in managing senior level volunteers and fundraising committees
• Understanding of disability language and issues
• Ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the arts

The Role

Your work will include delivering Ashden’s 2025 awards and collaborating with colleagues to set the process by which the winners will be chosen. You will oversee the communication with finalists, and support panels of expert judges to decide the champions.

You will also collaborate with colleagues to ensure delivery of a high-profile awards ceremony in London next summer. You will support the international award winners as they visit the UK to take part in that event and lead the integration of all the 2025 winners into ongoing projects and programmes. 

Your responsibilities will include development and oversight of the relevant budget. You will report to the Editor.

What you will be doing:

• Working with colleagues on the programme teams to deliver the awards process.
• Overseeing the assessment and judging process; winners liaison; planning for integration into support programmes. 
• Work closely with the fundraising team to ensure the sponsor requirements are met. 
• Management of awards budgets, including contracts with suppliers.
• Generation of insights and data through the awards process to feed into the organisational monitoring, evaluation and learning process.

The Student Advisor is a key role within the UWLSU’s Advice and Wellbeing team. The Student Advisor will deliver case-based advice and advocacy interventions to hundreds of students each year to an excellent standard. The post holder will work to ensure that our students are supported through academic regulatory processes such as mitigating circumstances, academic appeals, complaints and disciplinary processes at UWL. They will provide independent, non-judgmental and accessible advice to students that will empower them to make informed choices about their case.
