About the role
You will:
-Provide direct advocacy support to children and young people with disabilities, in and on the edges of the care system. You will hold a caseload, and be committed to championing the rights of these young people, working with a broad range of other stakeholders and agencies to do so.
-Support with developing the quality of services and projects delivered by Coram Voice to children and young people. This includes under Coram Voice’s Disability Outreach Project. It is an exciting time to join this project, which has recently expanded to include educational advocacy in addition to social care focused advocacy.
-You will support in the promotion of good practice across both Coram Voice and external organisations, building equitable and inclusive practice across the sector for children and young people with disabilities.
Our advocates will have relevant experience with children and young people, and may hold a suitable Advocacy Qualification. For the right candidate, we may also be able to offer this post as a Trainee position, and offer support to gain qualifications. The salary offered will reflect the candidate’s experience and skills.

Relationship management [20%]
- Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees

About the role: We are seeking to recruit a Counselling Services Coordinator to provide administrative support to our Counselling Services Manager and assist in the smooth running of our counselling programme. You will deal with referrals and carry out clinical counselling assessments in person and online to ensure that BCWA is the correct counselling service for the client. You will liaise with our trainee counsellors and allocate clients to the counsellors based on suitability. You will manage our counselling waiting lists and ensure clients are kept informed. Ideally you will have or be working towards a counselling qualification and/or have experience of providing trauma-informed support.

Training and Education Lead
We are looking for two Training and Education Leads to work for an exciting organisation, one permanent and one parental cover (6 months).

About the role:
We have two events-based roles to support our training and development courses. These courses are delivered either face-to-face or hybrid and are often delivered by a team of the organisation’s members. We use tools such as WebEx, MS Teams and Slido to support the delivery. There is an agreed schedule for the rest of 2024 for our public (open) training plus some bespoke, in-house training to be agreed upon with clients. There will also be additional in-house training to be secured for the remainder of 2024 and the first part of 2025.
The role holders will work within our professional development team, headed up by the director of professional development. They will report directly to the director and work alongside other team members to deliver an effective apprenticeship programme.
Our working pattern is hybrid, with attendance in the office expected for three days per week, including every Wednesday. You may also be expected to attend events across the UK and overseas.

About the Bar Human Rights Committee
BHRC is the international human rights arm of the Bar of England and Wales, working to protect the rights of advocates, judges and human rights defenders around the world. BHRC is concerned with defending the rule of law and internationally recognised legal standards relating to human rights and the right to a fair trial. It is independent of the Bar Council. BHRC’s mission is to protect and promote international human rights through the rule of law, by using the international human rights law expertise of some of the UK’s most experienced and talented human rights barristers, who work pro bono.
About the Role
We are looking for someone who is proactive and efficient with an eye for detail, who has experience working with smaller organisations, and who has a flexible and can-do attitude. The primary responsibilities would be to assist with BHRC communications, events organisation, and project administration. An interest in human rights issues or international development would be of benefit. The position will be directly supervised by the Project Team, with oversight from the Vice Chair and respective office holders as required. The position will be based in part remotely and in part in the London office, including for meetings and events. Working arrangements will be agreed with the successful candidate.

About the Role
The Head of Unlawful Detentions is responsible for overseeing Reprieve’s work on unlawful detentions, which comprises detention cases in North East Syria (NES), advocacy work with families of detainees in NES, support to those repatriated from NES, and our Guantánamo and Life after Guantánamo Projects.
Background on Unlawful Detentions Work
Reprieve was one of the very first organisations allowed inside Guantánamo. Since then, we have secured freedom for more than 80 men illegally detained without charge or trial, and we continue to support some of these men through our Life After Guantánamo project.
Reprieve also advocates for the release and repatriation of foreign nationals detained in camps and prisons in NES. We aim to ensure that detained individuals are treated in line with international law, and not subjected to the death penalty, extrajudicial execution, arbitrary detention, torture, or rendition. We also advocate for and support clients and their children after their release from arbitrary detention.
Through our work we aim to challenge and change flawed ‘War on Terror’ narratives and legal and political frameworks – including in the UK, Europe and the US – that engender state-sanctioned discrimination and abuse, undermine the rule of law and human rights, and create two-tiered layers of citizenship rights for ethnic minorities in Western countries.
About You
You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies using a dynamic approach in which each of Reprieve’s methodologies—casework, investigation, litigation, political and public engagement, support for and (where possible and appropriate) advocacy with affected communities—connect with one another to achieve positive outcomes in individual client’s cases and address structural rights violations.

You are a person with a high level of cultural competency, with direct lived or working experience with communities impacted by the so-called ‘War on Terror’ and/or relevant conflicts. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how racism and institutional discrimination affect our clients. You will ideally have experience working closely with clients, empowering them to play an active role in designing the advocacy and strategy adopted to address issues in their cases. You will have sensitivity to the risks faced by those with whom we work and a demonstrated commitment to acting in the best interest of clients. In addition to being conversant in relevant legal systems, you are abreast of the domestic, regional, and geopolitical developments that impact on detention issues in the areas in which we work. You will also have a good understanding of the political and legal context of human rights violations carried out in the name of ‘counter-terrorism’, particularly in the UK, Europe, and the US, and of gender and trafficking issues. You will have the ability to develop targeted strategies to influence the policies and public conversations in these jurisdictions.
Salary, contract and location
The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance. Reprieve works across a number of jurisdictions; as such this is a role that may require work outside of core hours from time to time.
Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% from the London office and the rest of the week from home.

About you

You will also have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as a high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality. You will be a proactive team-player and have experience of working disengaged young adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
To succeed in the role of Transition Coach, your key skills will include:
- A recognised formal qualification in Social Work, Youth & Community Development, Housing, Criminology or relevant Social Science to degree level or equivalent.
- Proven experience at a comparable senior level
- Clear understanding of the needs of homeless people
- Direct experience of working with disengaged young adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour
- Direct experience of working with a range of multi-agency partners at delivery level.
