The Duty Scheme Support Officer performs a vital role supporting the smooth running of ASAP’s duty scheme. Our scheme offers free legal representation for people in the asylum system who need food and shelter, but have been refused it, or are about to be evicted. Your work will help to ensure people are not left homeless when they are entitled to support.
You will work closely with the duty scheme team, especially the Duty Scheme Co-ordinator (DSC), to provide efficient and time-sensitive administrative support to the scheme. You will be a key first point of contact for our duty scheme, having daily direct contact with people seeking assistance, referring agencies, the AST court admin team, ASAP staff, duty scheme advocates (DSAs) and the Home Office.
We are looking for an efficient administrator, with good communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to asylum, human rights or social justice.

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

Summary job description
Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision-making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge-sharing events both online and face-to-face across the organisation, in addition to overseeing technical publications.
We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Community-Based Fisheries Management. This individual would oversee the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners working with communities around the world as they establish community-based fisheries management and locally managed marine areas. These types of tools and materials include:
- Accessible tools and appropriate technologies:
Intuitive to use and readily available, including software and mobile apps for data collection and interpretation, simple decision support tools for assessment, planning, and problem resolution, and community-level materials for common activities, such as meeting facilitation guides or choice architecture to help communities decide which fish and fisheries to focus management attention on.
- Educational resources:
Manuals, guides, videos, and online materials that provide concise information and serve as self-learning tools, allowing partners to access and acquire knowledge at their own pace.
- Knowledge development:
Structured learning experiences to transfer theory to practice and enhance the background knowledge and competencies such as workshops or webinars, as well as development of good practice technical case studies and publications.
- Skill development:

As a Global Head, the position oversees regional and national colleagues to produce and iteratively improve the technical support, ensuring globally consistent guidance, while enabling context-specific differentiation among regions. The ability to work in a diverse and geographically dispersed team and to liaise and adapt techniques across different cultures will therefore be essential. As a Global Head and part of the Technical Knowledge team the position strives for Blue Ventures’ work to be at the forefront of best practice in the sector, by learning from partners and practitioners worldwide to distill learning and experience into usable practical approaches to address the common barriers to achieving coastal fisheries reform with a strong believe in placing communities at the center of decision making.
The Blue Ventures Technical Knowledge team has a unique vantage point, gained through supporting dozens of partners working with hundreds of communities across South East Asia, the Western Indian Ocean, West Africa, and the Caribbean as well as being part of international fora and members of expert panels. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.
At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory data collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Community-Based Fisheries Management will have a strong understanding and technical experience of data-driven adaptive fisheries management in the small-scale fisheries sector, with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.
Blue Ventures recognises the key roles that women play in fisheries management and conservation as fishers, gleaners, processors, sellers and negotiators and seeks to highlight the important value of their roles in the fisheries value chain, that are often invisible, so that they also benefit. An understanding of the challenges faced particularly by women in fisheries and experience of working in communities to find some practical solutions desirable for this role. The role will work in close collaboration with the Technical Knowledge team to support these goals, which includes working with fisher associations and committees to increase the participation of women in fisheries management.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing tropical coastal fisheries and the small-scale fishing communities that depend on them. They will have practical experience of working with coastal communities in Africa, Asia or Central America, and partnering with civil society organisations, non-governmental organisations, government institutions, and other stakeholders to identify and address fishing issues, placing communities at the heart of the solution.
The successful candidate will thrive in environments that are dynamic, fast-paced, collegiate, and ambitious, will have a proven track record in distilling complexity into easily interpretable material, able to deliver high-impact written work, and in communicating effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from fishing communities, practitioners, academic institutions, governments, and other technical experts.
The role entails leading an interdisciplinary and international team, with strong cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will report to Blue Ventures’ Director of Technical Knowledge and will be based in one of our regional hubs, with regular overseas travel to work with partners and field teams around the world.
The core technical scope of the role’s portfolio will include:
- Community-based fisheries management for low-resource, data-limited fisheries including fish biology, coastal ecology, fisheries science, governance and participatory management and decision making;
- Participatory assessment, management and conservation of tropical marine habitats (integrating scientific and community-based habitat mapping and monitoring, fisheries data collection and use, marine spatial ecology and coastal resource governance)
- Following and informing best practice and policy for community based small-scale fisheries management and habitat protection.

About the role
As an Engagement and Assessment Worker, you will be part of Crisis Skylight Brent’s Engagement and Assessment Team, providing a high quality, non-judgemental and safe service to individuals who approach our Skylight Centre. Engagement and Assessment Workers are the first point of contact for a range of enquiries from people who are experiencing homelessness for the first time, individuals with complex and multiple needs, visitors, volunteers, and supporters. You will be providing information about Crisis’ services, delivering a high-quality triage and assessment service, and offering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) on local homelessness and other related services. You will also manage a small caseload.
Crisis uses a case management approach, and the successful candidate will attend case management meetings, reflective practice, and team meetings. You will also work collaboratively with external partners and Crisis Skylight Brent’s Coaching and Learning Teams.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

Experience of working with homeless or other vulnerable groups and understanding of the importance of respecting confidentiality, showing empathy and sensitivity, and working in a boundary way

The role
As Senior Programmes Officer you will closely with our peacebuilding partners to help deliver an ambitious new programme of work. 'Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System' will support local peacebuilders in Mali, Afghanistan, Sudan and eastern DRC to increase prospects for sustainable peace.
Through Local First, Peace Direct will work with policymakers and power holders, supporting them to understand the dysfunctions of the peacebuilding system, and find ways to better support locally-led peacebuilding.
This role is responsible for developing and managing partnerships within the four countries, with initial emphasis on Mali. You will work closely with our other SPOs who manage partnerships in the four countries, and create and manage opportunities to bring partners together to learn from one another. - Coordinate and support partnerships with local peacebuilding actors based on mutual accountability and trust. This will require working proficiency in French as well as English.

Job Summary
The Commercial Property Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice on Commercial Property matters generally and playing an important role during the rationalisation of the Charity’s property portfolio. A key element of this role is also to provide business as usual support to the Senior Commercial Property Solicitor and other lawyers within the Legal Team.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will be educated to a degree level, qualified Barrister or Solicitor of England & Wales with at least 3 years post qualification experience and current practising certificate, solid experience of Commercial Property Law and Practice and resourcefulness to develop solutions to complex legal or regulatory challenges.
About The Role
Prepare, review and negotiate complex and routine Commercial Property transactions involved with the disposal of a significant commercial property portfolio via public auction or private treaty.
Obtain s119 reports and liaise with relevant professionals eg. surveyors to achieve best value for these properties; Liaise with external counsel, draft, review and negotiate contracts; leases, licences, transfer deeds, deeds of surrender and similar documents (with Senior Commercial Property Solicitor’s guidance)
Analyse title documents and legal descriptions of property; prepare reports on title; prepare completion statements and invoices; prepare Land Registry applications.

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.
The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. About the role
As the Operations Officer you will provide dedicated support to the Start Funds' portfolio, currently comprising the global Start Fund, Start Fund Bangladesh, Start Fund Nepal and the Ukraine locally-led pooled fund. The role will contribute to ensuring that Start Funds' awards are efficiently and effectively managed, provide support to the financial management of the Start Fund programmes, implement the fund's approach to and management of risk and compliance, and assist with procurement.
In this role, you will:
Operational and programme management:
- Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor in maintaining effective award management processes, in close coordination with SCUK as Grant Custodian to the Start Network
- Support in ensuring that Start Funds' programmes are fully compliant with grants and contracts and managed in-line with relevant SCUK and Start Network policies and practices
- In coordination with the Start Network Assurance team, provide inputs for the implementation of the Start Funds' approach to and management of risk and compliance
- Support the Start Funds Operations Advisor in the management of audits
- Administer serious incident reports (specifically those that are fraud-related) concerning Start Funds
- Play a supporting role in the financial management of the Start Fund programmes, liaising closely with budget holders, the Finance Business Partner and the Start Network finance team
- With support from the Start Funds Operations Advisor, provide operational advice to colleagues in relation to day-to-day tasks as well as when challenges arise
