Family Support Coordinator

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Coordinator to support our care teams in delivering a high-quality family support service in the region, working with families and professionals to ensure the families we support have access to the services they need.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager and working in partnership with health, education, and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for sourcing practical goods and services in the region, applying for grants and benefits, as well as working with other charities or community providers to obtain goods, equipment or funds for families that Rainbow Trust do not provide directly.

The position requires you to have strong leadership skills, meet annual targets and manage current Community Fundraisers across the UK. Purpose of the role

Tech Angels (previously Tech to Community Connect) is a service which aims to reduce digital exclusion across Surrey. In recent years, and particularly now in a post-pandemic society, so much connection happens digitally; those without the knowledge or equipment to connect to the internet are at a very high risk of loneliness and isolation, which have a significant negative impact on physical and mental health.

To combat this, we provide devices on long term loan to people who are disabled or living with a health condition, family carers, of older age, or to those with another vulnerability. We also offer a ‘match’ with one of our team of volunteer Tech Angels, to help with digital literacy and confidence.  We also supply sim cards with data to those, who don’t have wi-fi, so that they can be connected. 

The purpose of the role will be to drive and coordinate referrals into and through the service, making sure that people facing digital exclusion get the support they need to get (and stay) connected.  Ultimately the outcomes we are focused on achieving are a reduction in health inequality and an increase in wellbeing.

Main responsibilities

1. Coordination of Tech to Community Connect activity in a defined part of Surrey

2. Communication with people using the service, carers, volunteers, organisations that may have referred to the service and other stakeholders

3. Database management, record keeping and impact measurement following all data security policies

4. On-going support for people using the service who are in a ‘match’ with a volunteer Tech Angel, those waiting for a ‘match’ or those who are accessing another part of the service

Person specification

It is essential that you have:

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a range of formats and with a variety of audiences

The Junction is an out of hours service, open 365 evenings a year, to support and assist individuals experiencing a mental health concern. The aim is to alleviate the need for people in the Swindon locality to access A&E acute mental health services and primary care GP services unnecessarily by managing the presenting symptoms/mental health crisis along with the triggers and context for that crisis. 

As an Acute Mental Health Practitioner, you will be providing a preventative, person centred approach to people accessing the service who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

The service is open from 4PM-11PM, 365 days a year so this position will include some weekends and bank holidays.

The main duties of the role

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

Achieving change for children’s rights - and addressing the root causes that allow violations to occur in the first place - requires a variety of approaches and voices. How CRIN works on each issue varies depending on the need and our ability to bring about change. However, a bedrock of our work is using the law to uphold stronger standards for children’s rights.

The international human rights framework, including the UN system, has been under strain - and while we think it’s important to simultaneously focus on other channels for change, we also want to continue to be a critical friend at the global level.

This is who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who can lead our work on national security and armed conflict. We need someone who has a strong understanding of the children’s rights and human rights legal framework and who has experience conducting advocacy at the global level. This person must be skilled at building relationships with key stakeholders - both allies and targets at different levels.

In particular, you would provide leadership on how children’s rights are impacted by counter-terrorism measures, including working on UK-based and international campaigning. You would also be responsible for exploring the expansion of CRIN’s work on children and armed conflict internationally.

You would work closely and collaboratively with numerous members of the CRIN team, including the Co-Directors and the Children’s Rights and National Security Coordinator. Your responsibilities would include:

• Leading CRIN’s work on children’s rights and national security and armed conflict;

• Building relationships and conducting advocacy with relevant decision-makers, including government and UN policymakers;

• Building and developing relationships with relevant organisations and individuals at all levels, including grassroots, national, regional and global;

• Working with other staff/consultants to conduct research and draft resources, e.g. research reports, briefings for decision-makers, submissions to relevant bodies;

• Helping with coordination on various issue areas related to national security and armed conflict: planning; formulating strategy; carrying out activities; and monitoring, evaluating, and reporting;

• Advising on and incorporating an anti-oppressive approach within our work on armed conflict and national security;

• Monitoring relevant news and policy developments, identifying opportunities for advocacy;

• Working with CRIN communications staff to create content for the website, social media, and newsletter;

• Supporting and working closely with other CRIN policy team members, providing legal and advocacy advice for their work;

• Representing CRIN in relevant coalitions/networks and at external events/meetings related to the issue area;

• Contributing to seeking media coverage for the issues, e.g. pitching stories, liaising with journalists, responding to interview requests.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

• Knowledge of and passion for children’s rights;

• Knowledge of the impact of counter-terrorism laws on children’s rights;

• Excellent legal research skills and experience utilising knowledge of comparative law and human rights law;

• Ability to think strategically and analytically, in particular the ability to develop effective strategies for social change; 

• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with diverse stakeholders, including in writing, and to cultivate relationships with a variety of people;

• An understanding of how oppression can manifest in the issues we work on (and how we work as an international NGO) and a keen interest in how we can implement an anti-oppression approach;

• Knowledge of the UN framework and experience conducting effective advocacy in this context; 

• Motivated, with strong organisational skills and an ability to manage own work (including while remote-working);

• Fluency in English;

• Ability to thrive in a small (and mostly remote) team.

The following would also be an advantage:

• Fluency in another UN language;

• Experience coordinating various projects or strands of work;

• Experience of media work.

What it is like working with us

We are a small team of around 15 staff. We take pride in our CRIN Code and try to approach our work and relationships with open minds, humility and respect. This helps us foster greater creativity, breadth of experience, and personal growth among our staff, and it’s essential to our success as an organisation. 

Our staff and consultants work remotely and are located mainly in Europe at the moment. While we have lines of accountability, we also aim to have a relatively flat structure whereby everyone receives support from and is accountable to each other in a number of ways. 

To help maintain a healthy work and home balance, CRIN has a 32-hour full-time working week (which can be spread over 4 or 5 days). We are committed to continuing to build a team that reflects the world’s diversity of skills, experiences, cultures and perspectives.

The Communications and Engagement Officer will use their creativity, strong digital marketing and written skills to amplify the voices of young refugees, develop compelling content for fundraising appeals, build momentum around our policy and campaigns work, and create engagement opportunities and sustained connections with our supporters and key stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with strong admin and coordination skills to champion Young Roots and our work, with young people’s voices at its core, to new and diverse audiences, growing our supporter base and unrestricted income through appeals. Your willingness and ability to collaborate and build relationships, both internally and externally; your creativity and compelling storytelling; your passion to be part of bringing about real change for refugees; and your skills in sharing our work to engage the public, will be key to the success of this role.

As such, the Communications and Engagement Officer will work closely with our delivery teams and with young people to facilitate co-creation within our communications.

You will be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive Fundraising and Development team within an empowering, values-led organisation that creates opportunities to learn and is focused on the wellbeing of its staff team.

This role will involve occasional evening and weekend work to attend youth activities and fundraising events. We have a TOIL (time off in lieu) policy in place for work undertaken outside usual hours.
