The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide support and interventions to those affected by domestic abuse to empower and support and break the cycle of domestic abuse throughout their journey with Stop Domestic Abuse, regardless of risk. The Navigator will be committed to family work and proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions to ensure eradicate domestic abuse from families lives.
The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide additional expertise to the wider team and enrich the service with specialist knowledge and guidance relating to victims who may experience additional barriers to accessing support from our service due to their ethnicity. The Lead Navigator will develop initiatives, workshops and training packages for both internal and external professionals. The role will encompass peer to peer support, direct one-to-one support to victims who may be at medium or high risk of harm, whilst also engaging with communities and local organisations in the local area to improve our response to domestic abuse. This role does not involve the line management of staff.
The Portsmouth Service operates as one team, and all staff are responsible for taking referrals for all aspects of the service, offering immediate support, advice and assessments to clients or people contacting the service, welcoming families into refuge and completing relevant paperwork, and ensuring the smooth running of the service. This will include providing cover when required for absent colleagues to ensure that the core functions of the service are delivered and responding to changing demand in service provision. The Portsmouth Service is a team committed to whole family work, when safe to do safe, creating a family journey through the service.
The Portsmouth Service is staffed 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. This role’s working pattern will fall within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday- Friday.
It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.

Learning Disability Caseworker

Mencap are recruiting for a 2 x Learning Disability Caseworker's (LDC) to give advice and undertake complex casework on Social/Community Care and Health concerns for people with a learning disability, their families, carers, and professionals working with them. As an IDVA, you will be able to effectively work with men experiencing domestic abuse, and supporting them to increase their safety and reduce harm. You will be providing high-quality, front-line service to prioritise risk, primarily focusing on males aged 18+.
You will initiate, develop, maintain and monitor multi-agency links through attending meetings such as MARAC and DA (Domestic Abuse) Forums to keep safety central to all services for men suffering/have suffered domestic abuse. In this role, you will manage a caseload of clients, many of whom have experienced homelessness, addiction, or involvement in the criminal justice system. You will provide tailored employability advice, one-to-one support, and deliver workshops aimed at helping clients develop the skills and confidence they need to rebuild their lives.
You’ll support with our LEAP project, providing a crucial stepping stone for clients in the early stages of recovery. By collaborating with partner agencies and working alongside our Peer Navigators, you’ll ensure clients receive the comprehensive support they need.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete initial assessments, risk assessments and risk management plans ensuring a high standard of case management.
- Work with a caseload of people who have experience of homelessness, addiction, and/or the criminal justice system that want to improve their chances at moving into training, education and employment.
- Provide employability advice and a range of interventions with the aim of supporting them to improve their employability, access training, volunteering, and move towards employment.
- Lead on and develop the Good Shepherd structured volunteering programme for people in early stages of their recovery journey.
- Work with Peer Navigators from our LEAP team to provide additional support.
- Signpost and make referrals to external agencies and build positive working relationships with partner agencies across the city.
- Deliver one to one’s, workshops and group sessions.
- Collect, collate, and interpret data that is required to report on the outcomes achieved through this work.
- Record and update service user activity in line with GS Confidentiality Policy.
- Maintain a high level of professional boundaries in line with GS Safeguarding Policy.

The charity’s mission is to remove the barriers that people with caring responsibilities face in the workplace. An exciting opportunity exists for a Co-Head of Employment Legal Advice Service to join the team. The postholder will focus on developing strategic relationships with trusted partners and stakeholders, including new and existing law firms who provide pro bono support. It will also oversee the effective and efficient delivery of Employment legal advice to working parents and carers. The role will be a job split, with an existing Co-Head and will be a part-time, 3 or 4 days week, permanent role with flexible working options available.
Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will be an employment lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with at least 5 years PQE in employment law gained with a reputable organisation. You will have expertise in and experience of providing autonomous advice on employment law and discrimination. You will be able to identify policy issues arising from advice work and have the ability to represent the organisation externally as subject matter expert. You will be able to identify own training and development needs and commitment to keeping up to date with all relevant changes in benefits and employment rights. Proven experience of establishing rapport, credibility and collaborative relationships with key customers, partners and stakeholders at the highest level both internally and externally is essential for the role. About you
Desirably you will have some experience of working as an Advocate, providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education and support.
You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.

You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.
