Damien Egan MP is looking for an experienced Senior Caseworker to join his constituency team in Bristol North East.
This is a full-time position and will mainly be based in the constituency office.
Key responsibilities
• Manage casework and gather relevant information to progress and resolve cases. Including producing casework reports to up date the MP.
• Dealing with enquiries from constituent’s face to face, by telephone, e-mail or letter.
• Overall responsibility for casework. Ensure cases are documented and progress is monitored.
• Organise surgeries, other meetings and constituency events and follow up as appropriate.
• Engaging with constituents and managing a caseload of complex cases.
• Drafting and sending responses to constituents, Ministers, and other organisations.
• Liaising and engaging with external stakeholders.
• Assist with any other administrative task as required.
• Attend events as required.
Skills and Experience. Personal, friendly and empathetic manor
• Experience in a similar role (advocacy, complaints, customer services, advice) is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Confident to interact with and advocate on behalf of, a wide range of people.
• Being kind, sensitive and understanding when dealing with people.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise own workload.
• Experience of working in a confidential environment.

Purpose of the role
To deliver and develop the Day One Casework bedside model to patients, or those closest to them, impacted by serious or multiple injuries which could result in life changing consequences, such as disability or death, predominantly within Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital (GMMTH), Salford, but also in other hospital settings or Trusts as required.
To have a visible physical presence within the Trust and become embedded into clinical teams focussing on the major trauma pathways.
To work closely with those impacted by catastrophic injury, taking referrals and carrying out initial assessments of need, expertly navigating, signposting and putting services in place in the immediate aftermath of major trauma, including talking about and facilitating early access to legal support to aid rehabilitation.
To establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders to promote Day One and address the needs of those affected by catastrophic injury.
To work as part of the wider Day One Service’s team and organisation, taking responsibility for own record keeping and data collection in line with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
The post holder’s primary duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Work closely, and in partnership, with NHS clinical staff and relevant community and voluntary sector organisations, to address the needs of patients, and those closest to them, affected by catastrophic injury.

Operate a case management approach to individuals, assessing and identifying needs, putting support in place including signposting, making referrals and direct support.

Provide consistency in assessment of all patients, irrespective of injury cause, age, status, giving access to the earliest possible specialist legal advice which supports rehabilitation and NHS cost recovery.

Maintain detailed case records, including accurate records of activity and intervention, using Day One’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, capturing and storing data in line with Day One policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

Implement processes and procedures to collect patient and family feedback and contribute to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Day One services through providing relevant information, case studies and reports.

Build awareness of the role and charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships across the regional major trauma network, ensuring those who need it have access to Day One support.

Work closely with local authority, statutory and voluntary organisations to provide patient and family support and advocacy.

Help establish other support mechanisms once a person is no longer within the hospital setting, supporting the patient discharge process in conjunction with leadership from NHS staff.

Identify and support the recruitment and supervision of Day One volunteers, where appropriate.

Support the roll out of our Peer Support Service, focussed on promoting awareness and uptake within the region.

Work closely with the wider team on performance, quality, safety and effectiveness of all services, ensuring appropriate safeguarding policies are followed.

Work closely with our Fundraising and Communications team, supporting national activity, as well as regional initiatives to raise awareness and fundraise.

Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required.

Willingness to undertake continuous development and training for the role, including mandatory Day One and NHS Trust specific training.

Supported by a project supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall project and delivery of immigration advice and casework to migrants at risk referred by selected hospitals and other Community Mental Health services provided by ELFT. This service is delivered through a mixture of channels including telephone, digital, face-to-face and hybrid working. This role will likely involve significant amounts of outreach work to provide advice in the community and within health services, and collaboration with those health services will be key.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants at risk (including EU migrants). The post holder will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable migrants with complex needs and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a range of stakeholders.

Da'aro Youth Project is looking for an experienced caseworker to join our small team based in Streatham Hill, London. The successful candidate will work alongside young refugees, asylum seekers and other young migrants who are at risk or in crisis to ensure that they can access their statutory rights and make progress in their personal development so that they can achieve their full potential. You will join our Casework Service which provides holistic casework, advice and practical support to young people aged 14 to 25 years, working closely with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure that the immediate and longer-term needs of young people are met.

The main aim of this role is to provide energy and income maximisation advice to Somali speaking householders in their first language face to face, by phone and at their home. Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Engage with local Somali households who need help with their energy issues. Depending on demand the post holder may be required to work with householders outside of the Somali community.
- Interpret and translate information and materials to advise and support Somali speaking clients.
- Reduce the financial hardship and stress of households in fuel poverty by supporting their access to lower tariffs, grants for heating and insulation improvements and income maximisation. This is also to identify energy improvements that can be made to the home and refer to installers to install them.
- Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in a cold home.
- To communicate with householders clearly, confidently and persuasively using appropriate language and style for target audience. Listening carefully, responding empathically, building rapport and trust, checking for understanding, empowering and motivating.
- To deliver complex casework over a period of time with minimal support. Giving advice to people in their own homes and at events, community and neutral venues.
- To adhere to CSE’s data recording protocols, processes and procedures and to maintain appropriate client confidentiality at all times.
- To use resources (including your time) efficiently and effectively
- To keep up to date with information required for role, seek opportunities to develop relevant skills and capabilities and share knowledge readily with others to support their development and work delivery.

Highway House is a charity that has been providing all year round shelter and support services to the homeless for the past 15 years. Summary of role
This post is responsible for ensuring that guests who attend Highway House are in the first instance made welcome. The primary role will be to engage those guests that attend the day centre and guests that are resident in the shelter’s accommodation in developing a pathway of support for them and help them move to the maximum independence they are capable of. About C4WS Homeless Project
Each winter, we collaborate with churches across Camden to run a rotating night shelter accommodating up to 16 guests each evening. Guests receive a warm evening meal, a camp bed for the night, and a hearty breakfast in the morning. During the day, we offer tailored advice, advocacy, and access to essential services, including our weekly Friday Club where former guests can continue receiving support.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Caseworker to lead on delivering holistic welfare support to our guests and ensure long-term stability in their lives. You will work with a small, dedicated team, providing advice and practical assistance both during and after guests’ time in the night shelter.
In this role, you will also support the night shelter for up to two evenings a week during the winter season (November–April), occasionally including weekends. This involves leading volunteers to ensure the safe and compassionate running of the shelter.
As part of C4WS, you will join a passionate network of referral partners, volunteers, and faith-based communities who have supported our mission for over 20 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct welfare support to shelter guests and service users.
- Lead on assessing risks and putting safety measures in place.
- Oversee case management, ensuring guests transition to stability and independence.
- Be present at the shelter for up to two evenings a week during the shelter season.
- Collaborate with volunteers, staff, trustees, and partner agencies to maintain excellent service delivery.
- Support and manage challenging behavior, incidents, and emergencies when necessary.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working with homeless people or similarly vulnerable/disadvantaged groups.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with guests, volunteers, staff, and partners.
- Proven experience assessing risks and implementing appropriate measures.
- Experience managing challenging situations and emergencies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and capable of working unsupervised.
- Proficient in office administration and computer literacy.
- Flexible and collaborative approach.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of welfare benefits processes.
- Experience representing an organisation publicly (e.g., at events or in the media).
- Familiarity with homelessness issues in Camden.
Salary and Contract
- Salary: £40,000 per annum.
- Contract: Permanent

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience undertaking comprehensive holistic assessments across outcome areas of health, wellbeing, self-care, housing, money, family, relationships, safety and crime
