As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!
What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:
- Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
- Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
- Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
- Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
- Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running of each store for two hours or more a week.
On the store floor you could be involved with providing excellent customer service, processing transactions on the tills, replenishing stock and putting up eye-catching displays to entice customers in.
Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with store housekeeping and administration, sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing items.
Do you have specific retail skills to donate? We're also looking for volunteers with skills and ideas around visual merchandising, identifying stock generation channels and raising awareness of our charity shops. Using your local knowledge, you could help to maximise the shop’s potential.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Sort through donations, find hidden gems
- Prepare items for sale
- Maintain the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
- Operate the till
- Help out with basic housekeeping

We are looking for Volunteers for our drop-in in Gloucester.
The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.
Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing. People’s language can be affected to different degrees so not everyone’s aphasia looks the same. Imagine for a moment not being able to verbally order a coffee or ask for a bus ticket. This may be what life could look like for someone with aphasia. Aphasia is a lifelong condition and means that the person living with aphasia, their friends and family will need to adjust to a new way of communicating to overcome barriers. This may mean having to write or draw things instead of speaking. Due to the damage in the brain, people with aphasia may find it difficult to process conversions as quickly as before. Aphasia frequently results in loss of employment and a reduced social network, leading to isolation for the person living with aphasia.
Say Aphasia are always looking to welcome new volunteers to help out at the drop-in groups.
Volunteering for the charity is very rewarding. The training and support ensures that the volunteers learn and enjoy their time with the charity. By giving your time to people with aphasia, you will be improving their quality of life. Many of the members attending the groups live alone, or have minimal social interactions. Having a regular drop-in group to meet others with similar experiences of living with aphasia, vastly improves their mental health and well being. As a volunteer, you can help the members to communicate with each other, help to organise activities, or help out with teas and coffees. Say Aphasia offers a warm welcome to volunteers. We are recruiting volunteers to support our Refuge Referral Line team, which supports women and children experiencing domestic abuse to find a safe, secure, and suitable refuge space across London.
You will join a team of trained staff and volunteers to support women to make a referral, and ensure they have the knowledge and are informed of the best options to reach safety. You will be supporting women and children to rebuild their lives free from fear!
What you will be doing
- Taking calls to assess the risks and needs of the women fleeing from domestic abuse whilst under supervision/guidance of the Referral Line Worker and the Service Manager
- To use a range of skills and tools to make phone conversations with women effective and empowering
- To provide women with knowledge of how to access refuge space and other types of support with the aid of a trained staff team
- General admin support: typing, taking notes, filing, scanning documents, keeping accurate records on our digitalised client management syste
- To develop positive relationships with staff members and women whilst promoting self-care
- Engage, support, and interact with women from a diverse range of needs and backgrounds

As a wellbeing caller, you will phone clients of Age UK Islington (AUKI) to complete a wellbeing check, log details from the call on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and flag up anyone that may need more assistance or further access to services. This may be the role for you if
- You are a good listener that can engage others in natural and easy conversation to find out how they are getting on.

By providing practical solutions and guidance to adults that might be struggling, you will be able to make a difference in someone’s life. This role can be done from home, providing you have the right computer and/or phone setup.

Commitment:
We are a relatively small organisation working with vulnerable adults and we have quite a few administrative boxes to tick before accepting new volunteers. You will need to fill in an application form, provide two references, a DBS check, have an informal interview, complete some safeguarding courses online, listen to a volunteer induction presentation, and receive role specific training.
Because the training and administrative work required to get a volunteer set up is quite extensive, we are asking for a commitment of a minimum of 3-4 hours a week for at least 6 months.
Extras:
This position is not accessible to those that are under the age of 18.
We will pay all reasonable travel expenses as well as subsistence/lunch expenses if you volunteer for half a day (3.5 hours or more). Office hours are between 9 and 5.
Share Psychotherapy (Share) is recruiting for a Chair to lead our board of trustees.
We are in an exciting phase of development, strengthening our core clinical team, improving administrative and business systems and solidifying our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy, by significantly increasing engagement of users, and to make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.
The Chair of the Board will provide leadership as we develop and grow. Using your skills in leadership, communication, integrity and openness, you will work alongside the other trustees on the board to drive the ambitious vision for Share’s future and guide the staff and large volunteer base. The following areas represent the main elements of the role. Key activities that will usually be the responsibility of the Chair are:
· Lead with the Board the strategic and sustainable development the organization
· Chair formal board meetings and the annual AGM
· Ensure that trustees comply with their duties and the charity is well governed and all aspects of financial, corporate and clinical governance are maintained
· Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the charity
· Be a proactive communicator and embrace a participatory leadership style
· Line manage and provide support to senior staff
The Board holds quarterly formal meetings (usually online), intervening monthly informal sessions and provides general oversight of the work of Share. The commitment as Chair is approximately 3-4 days per month.
We currently have a co-chair job share arrangement which has worked well for the organisation and the individuals holding the post. The board would be open to another co-chair arrangement and there is the opportunity to job share with one of our existing chairs, either as a permanent arrangement or for an introductory period.

At One YMCA we provide a range of varied and exciting volunteer roles - we currently are looking for support at our Horizons (Domestic Abuse) and Onyx (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) services based in Bedford
Some of the tasks and responsibilities include:
- Contacting ex-clients of the Horizons (Domestic Abuse) and Onyx (Sexual Violence Support) service over the telephone
- Building a rapport with individuals and ensuring people feel comfortable speaking with you
- Conducting client feedback surveys, ensuring that you are recording their responses accurately
- Taking note of anything of concern and ensuring that you liaise with the manager of the service to raise this
You will have:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for speaking to new people on the phone.
- Good administrative skills and IT literacy
- A friendly, empathetic approach.
- The ability to listen to answers and record them appropriately.
- Patience and understanding.

The Chair leads the board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively, in service of the charity’s vision and mission. The Chair leads in an inclusive way, supporting the board to work together well, and providing support and challenge to the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity.
Chair role
· Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre achieves its mission.
· Work in partnership with the Chief Executive and team to achieve our mission.
· Lead the board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
· Optimise the relationship between the board and The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre’s staff and volunteers.
· Plan and chair the board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
· Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre.

● Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
● Oversee The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
● Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
● Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
● Review and approve [charity name]’s financial statements.
● Provide support and challenge to The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
● Keep abreast of changes in The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre’s operating environment.
