Activity groups are run by volunteers and offer friendship and support in the form of activities for local people affected by Parkinson's. In Worcestershire, we offer a range of activities to give people affected by Parkinson's a more flexible opportunity of taking part in things that will help them feel in control.

We are looking for someone who is confident with using a range of social media platforms to help us to reach more people in the local community who could benefit from our activities. We are always trying to do more and your help could support us to find new volunteers , too!

You'll have a chance to use and develop your administrative, leadership and communication skills, supported by local staff and other volunteers, to showcase our programme of activities appropriately. The role is flexible and can be adapted to fit around your commitments.

The RSPB Cornwall group relaunched in September 2023 as RSPB Kernow Local Group after two years of dormancy. It's early days yet, but the group is hoping to continue the success of those previous years, bringing together all those who love nature, and fostering collaboration with the other great birdwatching groups in their wonderful county. They are aiming to arrange guided walks, many aimed at newcomers to birdwatching, throughout Cornwall all year round. M4RD is a UK charity that is advancing rare disease training for medical professionals. The aim of our work is to help reduce diagnostic delay and improve patient experience for those impacted by rare conditions.

We work with an extensive network of patients, carers, advocates and advocacy groups to deliver training to medical schools, foundation schools, royal colleges, hospitals and trusts.

The charity is small and consists of a friendly group of staff and Trustees. The work can be intense but is very rewarding, as the charity responds to the needs of the rare disease political landscape.

Pecan is seeking an accountant and Christian to join the Board of Trustees as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance committee. See person spec.

Pecan is a community development charity based in Peckham. We work with the local community to help people find a way through seemingly impossible barriers to a better future.

Over the past 30 years, we’ve seen thousands of clients flourish through our programs, including: ex-offenders and their families, refugees and asylum seekers, young people and the long-term unemployed. We see our service users as people who need supporting – not problems which need solving.

We advocate for those we work with, challenging inequality and injustice at a local and national level to provide hope and belief in a better a future for our community.

Board meetings are held on 10-12 occasions annually on a weeknight at 6.30pm.

Meetings of the Finance committee are held quarterly at a time agreed between trustees and management.

The Treasurer, along with the other finance committee members and senior management, guides the financial and business matters of the charity in line with good practice and in accordance with our governing documents and legal obligations. There are no executive responsibilities within Pecan and the Treasurer will not be an employee.

Main responsibilities and duties - in addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee and undertaken with other members of the Finance sub-committee

 - To scrutinise and recommend budgets, accounts, financial policies, management accounts and financial statements to the board of Trustees after discussions with the Chief Executive, other senior staff, and other members of the Finance Committee, where applicable.

- To ensure that proper accounts and records are kept, ensuring financial resources are spent and invested in line with the charity’s policies, good governance mechanisms, and legal and regulatory requirements

- To ensure that Pecan has appropriate reserves and investment policies.

- Liaising where applicable with appropriate members of the core management team responsible for the financial and operational activities of the charity.

- Attending and contributing to the work of finance committee in line with its terms of reference and reporting back to the board of Trustees verbally and in writing.

- Liaising with the charity’s auditors where appropriate and monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

- Ensuring that specific financial and organisational controls and systems are in place and adhered to.

- Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans.

- Ensuring that sound financial management of the charity’s resources is maintained and that expenditure and investment are in line with the charity’s objects.

- Reviewing the financial aspects of the charity’s risk register.

Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation. 

We are looking for Impact volunteers to help us with the monitoring and evaluation of our services so that we can understand the impact of them and make sure we are meeting our aims and fulfilling our remit. 

The role involves conducting a survey, mostly over the telephone (there may be face-to-face interviewing opportunities) that helps us measure our impact on loneliness and social isolation. 

For all our roles:

Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks)  which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.

For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.

We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs of calls made.).

We provide training relevant to the roles as well as ongoing supervision, guidance and support for all volunteers.

FareShare Greater Manchester is looking for safe, confident drivers to join our busy, friendly delivery team. 

We re-distribute tonnes of surplus food a month to charities and community initiatives across Greater Manchester. This is an achievement of which we’re proud, and want to expand and is why we need your driving and delivery skills to support our growing operation, especially in these current times of increased need.

Key responsibilities

Driving a van to deliver surplus food orders to the premises of the various Community Food Members we support. 
Loading and unloading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.

As a Delivery Driver at FareShare, you will be driving a temperature-controlled 3.5 tonnes Mercedes Sprinter van; working closely with a Driver’s Assistant to re-distribute food orders to the premises of a wide variety of Community Food Members. You will be involved with loading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.

The required skills and attributes are as follows. You must:

Be aged 25 or over, with a clean driver's licence (or a maximum of 3 points).
(Experience of driving a van is desirable though not essential).

Be reliable and be able to commit to pre-agreed volunteer shifts.

Be physically fit to take on moving and handling of food orders.

Possess the ability to follow procedures and instructions.

Have good verbal communication skills.

Have a high respect for Health & Safety standards and procedures.

Have an interest in the work of FareShare Greater Manchester and our values.

We are seeking a Treasurer to report to our Chairman and Board of Directors here at WRM. Music making is at the heart of our charity’s objectives, offering a wide rage of inclusive activities for anyone who is interested in getting involved with music, regardless of skills or knowledge.

Whilst this role is voluntary, the position is an integral part of the organisation as the Treasurer is also a Trustee and will participate in all Trustee discussions and decisions. The Board of Trustees meet up to 6 times per year at the Head Office in Trowbridge, but communicate regularly via email at other times. You will ensure that the organisation’s financial practices are reviewed regularly to safeguard its financial position, and have the enthusiasm to move the charity forward.

• Knowledge of Xero system with ability to learn new IT skills
