We are seeking an experienced Head of Policy Research to join our team. This is a senior and strategic role, responsible for team management and leading key research projects, providing subject matter expertise and liaising with stakeholders. The role is responsible for the delivery of research and projects under their remit and contribution to the development of new research, working closely with other senior leaders and external stakeholders.

The Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) is an educational research institute established to help improve later life outcomes. We are independent and an expert across all elements of the UK pension system. We contribute facts, analysis and commentary to help stakeholders, decision-makers and law-makers take informed policy positions and decisions on pensions and retirement income provision.

Direct reports: Permanent researchers x3 and contractors (on an ad hoc basis)

Reports to: Deputy Director

Responsibilities

• Leading the research team, managing the resources and interaction with the modelling team
• Managing relevant external research associates, brought in from time to time to complete projects
• Generating input into the overall research plan with ideas for new areas of research
• Producing scopes and bids and working with external sources to secure project funding
• Building relationships with others in the academic community and Government
• Representing the PPI at events and conferences, and in discussions with Government, the pensions industry and other stakeholders. 
• The management and production of PPI research projects:
  • To ensure the timely delivery of quality outputs from the policy researchers and relevant research associates
  • From time to time, subject to workload: to research and draft PPI publications including conducting literature reviews and desk-based research, analysing and interpreting data from a policy perspective, developing conclusions from analysis, presenting data and report writing
  • To participate in discussion groups and seminars on pensions policy issues and contribute to developing the PPI’s research agenda and profile.

​Essential skills:

• A working knowledge of the UK pension system (or the ability to acquire this knowledge quickly) or work experience in social policy research.

• Proven ability to interpret statistics/ modelling results (the candidate is not expected to undertake modelling or handle large data sets themselves).
• Excellent report-writing and data presentation skills, drafting for public, or non-technical, readers in plain English.
• Experience of presenting research findings in seminars or conferences.
• Management of a small team of professionals.
• Good project management, organisational an time management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and leadership skills and demonstrable team player qualities.

Location

We are a hybrid organisation and operate a remote working policy which means staff spend some time working in the office and some time working remotely. It is important that the successful candidate builds strong relationships across the team as a whole and with our stakeholders.  As most of our audiences and sponsors are mainly based in London, there will be a strong case for the successful candidate being London based, or able to come to London as frequently as required. We therefore anticipate that the normal place of work will be at the PPI office in Central London.

Community Support Officer - Scotland (and Northern Ireland)

We are looking for a Community Support Officer to successfully continue this work in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Please note that there will be a requirement to travel between Scotland and Northern Ireland up to three times a year.

This post will be home-based in Scotland with frequent travel within the region including Northern Ireland, occasional travel around UK for attendance at events, plus travel approximately three times a year to Head Office Stroud, Gloucestershire.

As a centre of expertise for after-care and support, we have established successful community support for those impacted by meningitis. By providing tailored regional support and information we help those affected by meningitis to feel more informed, less isolated, and more empowered to manage the impact of the disease.

What we’re looking for

• To manage an active case load, predominantly supporting those living in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
• To offer a listening ear, emotional support and practical information to those you support.
• To respond to new enquiries and referrals within an agreed timeframe.
• To provide equitable support using a variety of face-to-face, telephone, email, video calls and social media channels.
• To identify the support needs of those affected by meningitis.
• To signpost and refer individuals to services offered by third party partners and organisations where appropriate, and to support access to these third-party services.
• To lead on and organise virtual and face-to-face support events according to the wider operational plan and charity objectives.
• To support those affected by meningitis to access the charity’s support services such as the Rebuilding Futures Fund, Peer Support Groups, Support Events, and Believe and Achieve Programme.
• To moderate membership and content of Meningitis Now’s online peer support forums, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for members and providing occasional out of hours cover.
• To work with the Believe and Achieve Programme Co-ordinator to offer joint support to family members when needed.
• To actively reach out to those who may not be aware of the charity’s support services and explain the opportunities available.
• To build relationships with education, health and social care professionals and regional partner organisations, to encourage awareness of and referrals into our support services.
• To deliver relevant meningitis and support information to education, health and social care professionals, family, friends, workplaces and colleagues to help support people to manage the impact of meningitis.
• To attend professional meetings where appropriate to help support people e.g. education support meetings, meetings with employers.
• To provide accurate and up-to-date information about meningitis, recovery and after-effects.

Via home visits, you will work with each tenant to agree a support plan to enable them to maintain their tenancy and move towards independent living.

You will build strong working relationships with local services to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting tenants, whilst at the same time developing and maintaining good working relationships with other local services and organisations that provide support services to tenants.

You will complete and update records of interactions with tenants on the internal database and input data accurately onto monitoring spreadsheets.

About the role:

As Events Support Executive, you will support the Specialist Giving team’s strategy and programme of annual events delivering memorable, creative and high-quality events to inspire, engage and steward our audiences.  From conception to delivery, you will support the Specialist Giving team's event calendar.

• Supplier and logistics oversight – including but not limited to research, sourcing and visiting venues, managing and negotiating caterers, vendors and suppliers to deliver high value and engaging events to budget and on time, processing invoices and purchase orders as required. About you:

We are looking for an Events Support Executive with clear communication skills with the ability or experience to work with agility. You will be collaborative and able to work with different types of teams and audiences.

Key skills required for this role:

• Experience in delivering fundraising events that successfully raise income against targets Educated to degree level or above (or with extensive relevant workplace experience demonstrating skills and abilities to manage and deliver events.)

NAPAC is seeking Call and Email Handlers for our support services in Stockport

NAPAC provides the only free national support service for adult survivors of all types of childhood abuse. We offer specialist, confidential support to all adult survivors of any type of abuse, operated by experienced staff and trained volunteers.

NAPAC works closely with the criminal justice and public health sectors. We support survivors to navigate and understand their options with criminal and civil law, and in healing and recovery. As a support line Call Handler, you will be a key member of our dedicated team, providing emotional support and a safe environment for callers with a wide range of complex issues.

NAPAC offers full training and hands-on support for call handlers with every call they receive. You will use the knowledge and skills you’ve developed through our training to explore issues relating to childhood abuse and it how it effects adulthood and signpost callers to relevant resources and services that can provide more in-depth support. Calls are caller-led, and you will be there to empower each caller to take back control in their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow confidentiality and safeguarding policies
• Provide appropriate signposting to external services in accordance to callers identified needs.
• Ensuring that key record keeping is maintained to the required standard and contributing to service monitoring requirements
• You will have the emotional resilience to be able to support individuals who may be severely distressed, experienced trauma, and people who may be at risk of harm.
• The ability to think on your feet to support callers who may call during panic attacks or flashbacks
• Excellent communication skills, spoken and written.
• Providing email support to individuals.
• Being flexible in your approach to your work in line with changing and growing needs of the support service.
• To be Caller led and be able to keep your own personal boundaries whilst working in your own unique way.

Salary: £26,520 per annum, pro rata, plus pension and an employee benefits package.

Hours:  17.5 per week (0.5 FTE) to be worked flexibly across the week, in person. Remote and hybrid working is not available for this role.

Contract: One year, with possibility of extension subject to funding.

We are an early intervention programme supporting 13-25 year olds around self-harming and risk taking behaviours, in order to help them achieve positive outcomes.

One position will be based within our Community Pathway which will be predominantly based in West / North Kent. The other position will be based within our School Pathway in Kent. The role will require the use of a car in order to travel.  Please note this is a fixed-term position until August 2025.

The hours for these roles are 1 x full-time (37.5 hours per week).  The other is part-time (30 hours per week).

Through making social media posts, creating engaging content or writing stories, you’ll play an integral role in communicating our impact and stories to our key audiences.

At Horatio’s Garden, we build and look after extraordinary gardens in the heart of NHS spinal injury centres. These gardens are a critical part of rehabilitation and offer reflection and adjustment, privacy and solace, joy and companionship to all who need it. We lead regular gardening sessions to grow and cultivate plants, arts workshops to offer new skills and a programme of live music and events. Designed to be enjoyed all year round, these gardens offer a warm, welcoming place for family and friends who may have travelled hours for a visit.

Our vision is for everyone with a spinal injury to have a Horatio’s Garden as part of their rehabilitation care.

The charity is growing. With seven garden projects open, we have an eighth garden under construction in Sheffield. A smaller version of this garden won ‘Best in Show’ at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2023 as the first show garden designed for people with mobility needs, which significantly increased our profile.

Following a strategic digital review, you will support the rollout of the new digital strategy to place storytelling and impact at the heart of our communications.

This role will assist with the content creation of engaging written, film and visual content across different platforms, scheduling and moderating our social channels, and helping us report on our digital activity.

It would suit someone looking to start or build their career in the communications field or charity sector to develop experience in developing content, writing and charity campaigning. There will be opportunities for training and development and you will travel between the charity’s UK-wide gardens and meet patients, volunteers and staff.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week) based in the charity’s office in Salisbury. You will be reporting to the Communications Manager.

Main duties

• Help manage the day-to-day running of the charity’s social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook). Schedule content and respond to comments and messages to foster positive engagement and add value to the supporter experience
• Work closely with the team to produce subscriber, campaign-led and post-event newsletter content and manage the subscriber database
• Contribute to the charity’s content calendar and work creatively and collaboratively with the communications and wider charity team to proactively seek and develop story ideas in line with the charity’s recently updated digital strategy
• Create engaging written, photographic, design and video content in support of charity objectives and reflecting our brand and tone guidelines
• Assist with internal communications to communicate key updates to staff on the charity’s WhatsApp group
• Assist in maintaining and updating Horatio’s Garden’s main website
• Help to manage the charity’s digital assets, ensuring the team have access to the most impactful photographs and videos for their needs
• Collate, analyse and present monthly reports on social media, newsletter and website activity and engagement against key performance metrics

About the Role

As Rec Coordinator, you will work across all Youth Zone sessions and have responsibility for sessions for 8 – 19 year olds and up to 25 with those with disabilities. The Role will require you to be on 4 sessions a week across evenings and weekends.

The Rec area is the heart of the Youth Zone, buzzing with activities, games and engaging with young people. Ensuring there is a high-quality, creative and fun offer, focussed on the needs of young people and in line with the Youth Zone’s aspirations to provide members with the best possible experiences and opportunities, you will have a passion to put young people first.

You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the delivery and inputting towards the strategic delivery plan for the Youth Zone. This is a fun, exciting and challenging role in a new, growing, and ambitious charity and no two days will be the same.

About You

We are looking for a Recreational Coordinator with a relevant qualification or strong demonstrable experience in Youth Work. You will have evidence of ongoing professional development (for example Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Management) and experience of:

• Working with young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) in a range of settings.
• Engaging vulnerable, disengaged or hard to reach young people in activities in-line with relevant guidance and good practice.
• Managing a staff team, ideally including volunteers.

You will have a willingness to work evenings and 4 of sessions across a 7 day a week provision.

South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) aims to provide effective care and community support for people as they leave prison and re-integrate back into their local area, within the counties of Devon, Cornwall and western Somerset.  This incudes mentoring, practical support and signposting to assist the integration of ex-prisoners into their communities, in collaboration with other professionals.

We are seeking a part-time Project Support Administrator (up to 15 hours per week).  The post-holder will be based at our Exeter office, although there is some scope for partial homeworking, subject to agreement.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, with previous administrative experience and good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook etc.), including a sound grasp of data entry (Microsoft Azure, Teams).  Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to be an effective communicator, conveying information efficiently in writing, face-to-face and by phone.

The Role

To deliver on our new strategy and exciting capital and activity Masterplan, Wonderseekers is growing its Fundraising Team. The Head of Major Gifts is a pivotal new role within this team: working closely with the Director of Fundraising and managing a small team of experienced Trusts & Foundations (T&F) fundraisers, to achieve an initial target of circa £3.5 million within the next two years.

Accomplished at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, the post holder will lead and coordinate project fundraising campaigns to achieve the individual project targets, ensuring the highest quality of funding approach and donor stewardship across the Major Gifts Team.

In addition to managing and supporting the in-house T&F Managers and freelance T&F fundraisers to secure five and six figure grants, the post holder will develop and manage their own portfolio of major T&Fs and high net worth individual (HNWI) donors contributing circa £1 million towards the overall initial target. Working with the Director of Fundraising, they will play a lead role in establishing a strong and loyal major donor base of organisations and HNWI for the Charity in anticipation of future funding needs.

The post holder will have impeccable interpersonal and presentation skills and be comfortable representing the Charity and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders at the highest level.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser to become an influential member of the Charity’s Leadership Team. Following achievement of the initial target, the Head of Major Gifts will play a strategic role in designing and implementing future fundraising campaigns (for “business as usual” and special projects) to support the Charity’s strategic plan and maximise its social impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Charity to achieve its strategic goals by generating the fundraising income required to deliver core activity and development works
• Be an active member of the organisation’s Leadership Team, attending strategic planning sessions to keep abreast of the Charity’s future projects pipeline, identify funding opportunities and help colleagues to understand and support the fundraising process

• Manage and support the Major Gift Team, coordinating the team’s fundraising activity, ensuring that approaches, applications and stewardship are in line with fundraising regulations, the Charity’s Fundraising Promise, are of a consistently high quality and provide regular progress reports to the Director of Fundraising
• Work with the Director of Fundraising, other members of the Senior Leadership Team, Trustees and the Charity’s Volunteer Leaders to develop and grow a HNWI funding pipeline, conducting contact mapping and other research, producing briefing notes, working with senior stakeholders to develop and implement cultivation plans and organising information / cultivation events
• Work with the Head of Impact & Learning to plan and deliver project impact reports for funders
