An exciting position has arisen for a Head of Finance to join a small not for profit Think Tank to lead their finance function. You will be managing a small team and be responsible for producing the management and financial accounts.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Work closely with the CEO and to develop and implement a robust financial strategy
• Lead on providing relevant finance operational support to the Charity in financial accounts, controls, statutory requirements, treasury, payroll, and financial systems

Purpose of the job

 The Evaluation & Learning Manager will work closely with the Assistant Director of Research & Impact and internal/external colleagues. You will help the organisation make good decisions and influence others – informed by the best available evidence, analysis of the charity’s impact, learning from organisations, youth practitioners and young people.

 You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of a portfolio of evaluation and learning projects. This will involve conducting research in-house, as well as managing external research partners. You can also expect to have line management responsibility for a direct report and should work closely with other members of the Impact Function to improve our ways of working and meet the organisation’s system change ambitions.

 The Impact Function will not evaluate programmes in isolation but rather help to build a cumulative knowledge base that proves and improves the impact of UK Youth’s activities and youth work more generally. Learning and knowledge management is a major component of this role and you will ensure that insights are easily understood and applied to have real world impact.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Brixton House is looking for an experienced, committed and highly organised Fundraising Manager. The post holder will have a central role in working with the Head of Development to secure grants from mainly trusts and foundations but will also work across other Departments to steward relationships with individual donors, support innovative digital fundraising campaigns, and assist in the delivery of targeted fundraising events.

The Development team is responsible for achieving a minimum voluntary income fundraising target of £300k, increasing over the next 2 years to £550k. Achieving these targets is central to Brixton House realising the creative ambition of our productions and performances, and to delivering our creative engagement programme in the wider community, with a particular focus on the London Borough of Lambeth.

The Fundraising Manager will report to the Head of Development and work collaboratively with colleagues and internal stakeholders across Departments to ensure there is a good fit between fundraising prospects and our programmes, and that our fundraising outputs are aligned with the vision, mission, and values of Brixton House.

This job would be ideal for applicants with successful fundraising experience looking to progress their fundraising careers by stepping up into a fundraising manager role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Income Generation

- Working with the Head of Development to implement the Income Generation Strategy to diversify our funding, including developing and managing a pipeline of Trusts & Foundations, competitor analysis and prospect development to achieve ambitious fundraising targets.
- Drafting and completing high quality funding applications and compelling funding proposals, including strong narrative storytelling, detailed budgets and comprehensive spending plans.
- Managing relationships with grant makers, writing grant reports, ensuring that deadlines are met and that the work accurately reflects our commitment to the grant makers requirements.
- Ongoing donor relationship management, acknowledging contributions, providing written updates on projects, programme delivery, and effective stewardship to encourage repeat giving.
- Managing and responding to supporter enquiries promptly, providing them with the best experience possible to maximise fundraising opportunities, and maintaining excellent up-to-date and timely records of all fundraising activities.
- Ensuring that all fundraising activity and donor stewardship and engagement is compliant with the Fundraising Regulators Code of Practice.
- Working closely with colleagues in other Departments to gather case studies and insights which demonstrate the impact of our work.
- Working collaboratively with the Head of Development and colleagues in Productions and Programming, Creative Engagement, and Marketing and Communications to actively support opportunities for income generation including corporate funding, individual giving, partnerships, trading activities, sponsorship, contracts and community fundraising.

Data & Impact Reporting

- Extract and interpret data from our CRM system Spektrix, and other external data sources to gather and process information which strengthens the case for support, and which enhances the quality of funding applications and funding reports.
- Working closely with colleagues in other Departments to ensure our CRM system and processes collect the accurate data required to meet funder requirements.
- Working closely with colleagues in other Departments to assist in the monitoring and evaluation of funded projects, and other activities which enhance the content and quality of reports for funders, trustees, and other key stakeholders.
- Analysing and presenting data and key findings to internal and external stakeholders through clear, concise and high quality reports and presentations.

- Provide assistance and support to the Head of Development to ensure that fundraising targets are achieved, and the objectives of the Income Generation Strategy are fully met.

- Proven experience of working for a charity and a clear understanding of the processes involved in securing funding through grants and donations and achieving fundraising targets.

We are excited to be advertising the role of Psychotherapy Service Manager at Respond, to lead our team and the development of our psychotherapy services with autistic people and people with learning disabilities who have experienced trauma and their families.  Many of our clients may have experienced complex or multiple traumatic experiences including sexual violence, domestic abuse and neglect.

The Psychotherapy Service provides predominantly longer-term therapeutic support of a year or more, depending on how the work is funded, to an average of 130 unique individuals per year.  The current team of 10 are made up of 4 senior therapists (reporting to the postholder), 4 therapists and 2 honoraries in training, the majority of whom are Arts therapists and work within a psychodynamic and/or systemic model.

We welcome applications from experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapists, Arts therapists, Psychologists or Family Therapists who are passionate about our work. You will work psychodynamically, champion our trauma informed approach including our reflective practice model and have the opportunity to influence and shape the development of the psychotherapy service.  Leading the small team, you will provide clinical leadership and be Safeguarding lead, ensuring we continue to provide high quality psychotherapy services.  We are offering the role at 4-5 days per week, working in a hybrid manner flexibly. This is a unique and specialist role and we recognise that you may have more experience in one clinical area or client group than another, given the breadth of our work and whilst you may be experienced in working psychodynamically as a therapist and as a line manager, you may be newer to leading a service for example. What this role entails?

This varied role sits within the Volunteer Partnerships team, a unique team which consists of four volunteer fundraising boards, made up of influential, high-profile individuals who feel passionately about the charity and volunteer their time and expertise. The Principal duties and responsibilities will be as follows:

Governance 

Ensuring that the charity is legally compliant, compliant with requirements of the Charity Commission and has the correct insurances in place for the charity’s activities and that these are reviewed annually.

Ensure systems are in place for the Board of Trustees to fulfil its statutory responsibilities and exercise effective control of the charity's affairs. Support trustee recruitment in line with Hackney Playbus procedures.

Ensure policies and guidelines are appropriate for the charity’s work and reviewed regularly by the Trustees, including annual reviews of Children’s Safeguarding, Data Protection policies and the Risk Register developing policy proposals as necessary

Report quarterly or as required to the Board of Trustees on progress against key strategic objectives, providing information and explaining performance

Strategic

To work with Trustees to ensure the charity’s vision, mission and strategic plans are reviewed in conjunction with key stakeholders including Hackney Playbus staff, volunteers and families.

To take Joint responsibility for achieving, monitoring and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of charity’s activities taking action as required

To be open to feedback and ideas for innovation and change while delivering consistent and reliable services

To develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the charity's work.

Financial

Ensure that income is maintained, expenditure controlled in line with budgets and potential risks are identified and managed

Draw up an annual budget for approval by Trustees

Liaise with appointed bookkeeper, ensuring timely payment of bills, invoicing for services, chasing of invoices for payment and maintenance of petty cash systems

Prepare contracts, apply for tenders, negotiate and agree contracts, service level agreements and acknowledge receipt of funds as required.

Oversee expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure is monitored and reported quarterly to Trustees

Organise independent examination of accounts with appointed accountant

Review and make recommendations to maintain or change arrangements with accountants, bookkeepers and payroll service providers. 

Income Generation

Develop income generation strategies to maintain and enhance levels of funding from existing sources and develop new funding streams

Work closely with and provide support to the Fundraising Officer on funding applications to ensure continuous and sufficient income

Work closely with the Co-Director of Operations to ensure that monitoring reports are submitted to funders in line with requirements.

HR 

Recruit staff as required 

Support and supervise Administration and Fundraising Officers

Ensure HR policies, procedures and staff contracts are relevant and reviewed regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose. 

Promotion of Charity

Maintain effective networks with supporters and stakeholders

Network externally and develop partnerships to improve impact and sustainability

Ensure charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders including website, social media, annual, impact and reports

Represent the charity in public forums and produce or commission written/digital material for promotion

Asset Management

Overall responsibility for asset management including Playbus vehicles, premises management, IT, utilities and other overheads. 

Other Duties

To participate in internal/external meetings and training

To participate in annual appraisal by appointed Trustee from the Boardof Trustees

To uphold Hackney Playbus policies and procedures including Children's Safeguarding.

Salary:  £29,217 per annum

They care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually.  They now seek a new Senior Philanthropy Manager to personally secure six and seven figure gifts.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, the Senior Principal Gifts Manager and the wider Philanthropy team to help achieve the overall strategy for high-value partnerships. You will work to big income targets and will mange a personal portfolio of funder accounts, managing both the Patrons Manager and Philanthropy Manager too.  Collaborating with the Special Events team and Corporate team too, you will prepare written donor proposals, donor stewardship materials and actions and will work independently to plan and implement creative strategies to increase philanthropic gifts.

The selected candidate will have an established track record in significant fundraising or income generation, with a proven track record of securing income at the six-figure-plus level. You will enjoy working within a results-oriented environment and will have demonstrated success in managing high value portfolio partners.
