The role is a hybrid position that will require travel in the UK including to the UKHQ Finance Department in Sandy Bedfordshire, and to attend meetings in the support of your directorate.
We are looking for two qualified accountants to join our Financial Planning and Reporting team. Both positions are as Finance Business Partners, supporting two key areas of the organisation: one will be supporting our Income and Conservation Investment Directorate; and the other supporting colleagues in the UK Countries Directorate more specifically for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Both are key roles within the team working in income generation, and direct conservation areas.
What's the role about:
As a Finance Business Partner you will work proactively with senior colleagues to provide an added-value service of financial support to our Directorates. In addition to a strong management accounting background, you will understand the difference that can be made through strong business partnering relationships and be confident in building those relationships. You will gain the respect and confidence of the colleagues you support through strong communication skills (written and oral) and your ability to constructively challenge ideas and plans. You will add value through gaining an intimate understanding of the Directorate that you partner, together with contributing to business performance and the requirements of the finance function with the charity's need.
You will be a fully qualified accountant with up-to-date technical knowledge and a desire to progress in your profession. Role Context and purpose
Following recent and projected growth of the organisation, Gaddum is looking to recruit additional resource within the Central team to bolster support; ensuring delivery of safe and high-quality services. Gaddum acts as an administrator for smaller trusts and charities, who do not have internal finance teams, and this role will act as the key point of contact for those trusts in delivering financial support. In addition to this, Gaddum also redistributes grant funding – this role is to act as the Finance lead for the financial management of the funding.
The post holder, line managed by the Finance and Resources Director, will join the finance team and work alongside another Finance Assistant responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable. This is a 28 hours per week role, working flexibly to suit the needs of the organisation and individual.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Trust Funds
• Key point of contact for trusts
• Administration of trust fund applications against agreed policies between Gaddum and the associated trusts
• Coordination and administration of trust meetings on behalf of the organisation and trusts
• Maintaining accurate, timely and relevant written and financial records, pertaining to the administration of the trust funds
• Respond to enquiries and requests by phone, email and in person as required
• To assist with collating and inputting of data, e.g. accounts for reporting periods
• To liaise with referring organisations, referrers and beneficiaries where necessary during the day-to-day administration of trust funds
Grant Funding
• Working with the existing Grant Coordinator in ensuring the regular invoicing of grant funding
• Accurate and timely processing and payment of this funding to organisations within the region
• Maintaining accurate financial information for statutory reporting
• Finance contact for all grant related enquiries
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• To support the Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable & Receivable) in periods of absence
• To meet regularly with Finance & Resources Director for supervisions
• Undertake additional duties within competence of post holds as required by the Finance & Resources Director

The Role

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong and proactive leader to take responsibility for the day to day management of our finance team, assuming full responsibility for managing and monitoring the systems, policies and procedures and most critically the financial results across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of managing a team ensuring all financial and management accounting procedures, payroll processes, budget reporting and the systems for effective cash flow projections and management are in place.
You will have proven experience of devising and implementing effective plans, particularly in the areas of service development, staff development and management of change. Knowledge of the SORP/SOFA charitable finance regulations along with excellent IT skills are essential.Experience of using Great Plains or similar accounting software will be an advantage.

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) is an independent body responsible for adjudicating alleged breaches of professional conduct by solicitors in England and Wales. With a budgeted annual income of approximately £3 million, funded by the Law Society the SDT ensures fairness and integrity in the legal profession through transparent hearings and decisions. They recently moved into newly fitted out premises with state-of-the-art courtroom facilities in the heart of the city. The Opportunity:
This hands-on role offers a unique blend of strategic oversight and transactional work, ensuring your involvement in every aspect of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Working closely with the Head of Operations to support strategic decision-making, contributing to management and Board decisions and shaping the organisation’s financial future.
• Statutory Accounts: Prepare statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors to maintain compliance
