The Development Manager will co-ordinate fundraising activity at Ushaw with a specific focus on developing funding from public funding bodies such as ACE and NLHF, cultivating strong and long-lasting partnerships with key funding stakeholders and supporting Ushaw’s financial sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Build on relationships with existing funders, preparing and submitting grant applications.
• Manage and lead the identification of, and approaches to, trusts and foundations who have not previously supported Ushaw.
• Engage with key external (including ACE, NLHF, REPF, Historic England) and internal stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
• Maintain and grow the existing database of potential funders using Ushaw’s CRM system Donorfy. Conduct prospect research to develop funding pipeline.
• Work with the finance team to support grant/fund management.
• Manage all grant awards appropriately, ensuring reporting deadlines are met and administration is carried out effectively.
• Prepare reports and supporting documents for Trustee meetings.
• Be responsible for tracking grant income and delivering key fundraising KPIs
• Work with senior leadership team colleagues and contribute towards wider organisational strategic goals and KPIs.
• Maintain professionalism and strict discretion and confidentiality.
• Support other aspects of fundraising activity, including Friends of Ushaw & Ushaw partners

Location: Remote (based in England & Wales with occasional travel for biannual team days and biannual departmental team meetings in various locations)
Salary: £28,665 - £30,865 pro rata (£11,466 - £12,346 actual)

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER (ISLE OF SHEPPEY)

Our programmes aim to particularly support talent from Global Ethnic Majority, DDN (d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent) and low socio-economic backgrounds (LSEBs).

This role will manage a range of training and mentoring programmes including virtual and inperson activities. Working with a broad selection of industry partners from across the media and creative industries (including major broadcasters, advertising agencies and tech companies), you will support programme participants to gain the confidence, knowledge, skills and networks to progress their careers in the media, and contribute to developing a more representative media industry.

Key Responsibilities

Programme management and delivery

• Manage all aspects of a range of training and mentoring programmes, ensuring they are high-quality and impactful
• Provide regular project updates to our funders and partners
• Manage programme budgets including monitoring expenditure, forecasting and ensuring all third-party expenses are paid and/or reimbursed appropriately
• Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the programmes you manage, ensuring impact is evidenced by high quality data, and produce impact reports for key stakeholders
• Work alongside the marketing team to support the production of marketing and communication materials and provide regular programme updates for the Media Trust website and social media channels, including end of programme case studies
• Maintain up-to-date programme data and reporting by inputting relevant data on a timely basis to our CRM system

Talent/participant engagement

• Lead the recruitment of participants including marketing and outreach, selection and onboarding
• Design, deliver and manage engagement and retention strategies, supporting participants to commit to the programme
• Be the first point of contact for all participants, and provide pastoral support throughout the programme, monitoring participants’ progress through 1:1 check-ins, providing additional support and access adjustments to those who require it
• Assess participants’ accessibility needs, ensuring adjustments are implemented to provide individualised support
• Work with programme participants and industry partners to develop engaging session content tailored to the cohort’s needs
• Facilitate increased understanding of industry mentors and volunteers on how best to support underrepresented talent
• Develop alumni engagement strategies and liaise with industry partners about upcoming job and work experience opportunities we can share with alumni

Industry engagement

• Manage relationships with key programme partners, providing regular updates and sharing feedback on their mentors and/or volunteers
• Source qualified industry trainers, workshop leaders, mentors and volunteers

What we are looking for in you

• A track record of effective project management and delivery
• Experience of working with diverse communities, including adjusting for accessibility needs
• Experience of designing and delivering training, with strong workshop facilitation skills
• Experience of organising and managing events, including online and face to face events, co-ordinating participants and trainers and overseeing logistics

This is an exciting time for Tender, with both the demand for and reach of our work expanding significantly in recent years. Following a recent organisational restructure and the development of a three-year strategy which we are implementing in 2023 – 2026, we are anticipating further growth in our adult training work.

We are therefore looking to expand our Adult Services team, with a Projects Coordinator to support the Head of Adult Services and Service Delivery Lead (Adult Services) to coordinate the delivery of a range of adult training projects to a varied group of beneficiaries. You will play a key role in ensuring that the projects are planned and delivered smoothly, communicating regularly with settings and the facilitators delivering the training, and ensuring projects are properly recorded, monitored, and evaluated. Role Purpose

The main purposes of the Projects Coordinator role are:

• Coordinating the administration of all aspects of the Tender’s training programmes for adults across the organisation
• Supporting the Head of Adult Services and Service Delivery Lead (Adult Services) to manage relationships with Tender’s internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, workshop leaders, teachers/carers, delivery partners and other service professionals

• Supporting the Head of Adult Services and Service Delivery Lead (Adult Services) to manage relationships with settings to facilitate the delivery and success of adult training projects
• Supporting the Head of Adult Services and Service Delivery Lead (Adult Services) to manage relationships with other stakeholders involved in the delivery of projects, including workshop leaders, youth leaders, partner organisations, and professional specialists, to ensure stakeholders remain engaged in and committed to the projects’ success
• Working with colleagues to manage information flows and communication to ensure knowledge of and learnings from projects are known and understood across Tender

Administration

• Completing all mandatory training, and proactively seek opportunities for ongoing professional development
• Logging, tracking and updating project management documentation (including project booking, securing contracts, carrying out risk assessments) to facilitate transparency of decision-making and accuracy of reporting
• Following monitoring and evaluation procedures to ensure the results of projects are recorded accurately and in a timely manner using specified systems, including Salesforce and SharePoint
• Participating in training and other learning activities to develop relevant professional skills and knowledge
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and competencies required of the post requested by the line management

Bankside Open Spaces Trust is looking to recruit a dynamic and organised Centre Manager with a passion for community and young people to lead and manage our operations, drive engagement, and foster a sense of belonging within the community. This is an exciting and varied role working with an award winning environmental and community charity in Central London.

Role Overview: 

This role is based at our Living Space Community Centre in Waterloo, SE1, which is a vibrant and inclusive centre dedicated to promoting free to access youth activities, it has 2 halls for hire and 5 small non-profit business offices upstairs. The Community Centre Manager will proactively take the lead working with staff, stakeholders, partners, hirers and the local community raising awareness of BOST’s work, animating the centre, ensuring its sustainability.
You will be responsible for various aspects of facilities management, health and safety, planning and delivering projects within the centre, managing a small team, financial management and planning.

Excellent communication skills are required in both written and verbal communication with a friendly and welcoming manner. You will need to be flexible in your working approach, working both independently and as part of a team to deliver the aims of the charity. This will include working evenings and occasional weekends.

About Bankside Open Spaces Trust:

Bankside Open Spaces Trust is an environmental and volunteering charity. We were launched in 2000 by a group of local people with an aim to improve the SE1 area, making it a greener, more beautiful place to live and work.

We manage and maintain open spaces, welcome volunteers from both the community and the corporate sector, run regular gardening groups, support park steering groups, organise and take part in public events and educational projects, and offer advice to others. We collaborate closely with local residents and businesses to champion green spaces.

Thousands of people enjoy our open spaces every day. Each of our sites is unique, with its own atmosphere, identity and sense of place. Our spaces include Red Cross Garden, Marlborough Sports Garden, Waterloo Millennium Green and Tate Community Garden. Hackney Playbus 

Hackney Playbus believes that all children under five living in East London should have the opportunity to grow, thrive, and reach their potential. Our mission is to provide play, learning, and support to socially excluded families in East London, to encourage children’s early years development, and to strengthen families and communities.

Early Years Community Worker

We are looking for an Early Years Community Worker to join our caring, creative and resourceful Hackney Playbus early years team, with additional responsibility for coordinating the staff team schedule and ensuring that appropriate resources are in place to deliver our programme. 

Together we run stay and play sessions from a bright and beautiful double-decker bus that has been converted into a mobile early years community play space. Our sessions take place both inside and outside the Playbus in different locations across Hackney, providing a rich play and learning environment for children aged 0-4yrs old and a welcoming space for their parents and carers. We listen to the needs of parents and carers and help families to access support services where needed. 

As well as our Playbus sessions, we bring our informal, welcoming approach to baby groups that we run in community settings.

Our Team and Our Approach

Main duties and responsibilities:

Staff scheduling

• Coordinating the staff team schedule to ensure all sessions are appropriately staffed, taking into account booked annual leave

• Arranging cover for absent staff, both planned and at short notice

• Covering sessions for other members of the team to enable all team members time to take part in outreach activities, training, planning, project development, admin and meetings

Play Provision

• To assist in the planning and delivery of play opportunities in a safe and stimulating environment, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum

• To acquire resources as necessary within the budget available to maintain an enabling environment for children’s learning and development, ensuring that all equipment is safe, appropriate, well maintained and stored

• Promote the use of low cost, free or recycled materials to ensure that activities demonstrated can be replicated in the home environment and on a low budget

• To create stimulating play spaces to support children’s learning and development, including lifting play equipment on and off the Playbus as required, and/or setting up equipment in community hall settings

• To supervise and support children in their play during sessions both on and off the Playbus, or in group settings at community venues 

• To assist with the cleaning and tidying of the Playbus, venues, and of Hackney Playbus resources

Working with Parents and Carers

• To provide a warm, welcoming and nurturing space for parents and carers, whether on the Playbus, in group venues, or in other community settings

• To model ways of playing and interacting with children, including promoting play-at-home ideas

• To encourage parents and carers to share their experiences with each other and to value their own knowledge and experience as a parent or carer

• To develop positive relationships with parents and carers and support them in their knowledge and understanding of their child’s learning and development

Signposting and Referrals

• To become familiar with support services available both locally and nationally for families, including Hackney Children and Family Hub provision

• To listen to parents and carers’ concerns and signpost or refer them to relevant support services

• To observe children and identify where additional support from external services may be required

• To promote programmes and opportunities that benefit families in line with Hackney Playbus aims and objectives

• To ensure leaflets and information displays are up-to-date and accessible on the Playbus and in other venues where we work

Outreach

• From time to time to participate in outreach activities such as door-knocking, leafleting and pop-up play events

• To actively support inclusion by identifying any barriers that families face in accessing our services and working to overcome these barriers together with the Hackney Playbus team

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• To complete registration forms, attendance records and sessional report forms. These may be in paper form or digital. 

• To carry out and write up observations related to the charitable aims of Hackney Playbus

• To be aware of the aims and outcomes of specific projects when writing session reports

• To be willing to assist the Co-Directors in reporting on outcomes

• To assist in gathering feedback from parents, carers and children

General

• To support Hackney Playbus’s commitment to safeguarding children in all aspects of the organisation’s work

• To be friendly and welcoming to all families and to work hard to make every Hackney Playbus experience a positive one for both child and adult

• To promote and deliver a fair and quality service which is sensitive and responsive to all families using Hackney Playbus services

About the team

The team deliver a range of services, including training on housing and homelessness prevention, housing law consultancy, online resources and projects to support professionals working directly with people at risk of homelessness to get positive outcomes. The team covers all of England and works closely with teams including Learning and Organisational Development, Training and Support, Business Support, as well as our frontline Services and Legal Services.

About the role

Knowledge is power and we run over 1,600 training courses that attract 40,000 delegates each year. Your challenge, together with three other Operations Assistants will be to take responsibility for the administration and operational delivery of all of our courses, including face-to-face training and online via webinars and e-learning. We’ll rely on you to ensure that each course runs smoothly, all delegates and trainers have the instructions and information they need and that the highest level of customer care is provided. Monitoring a number of inboxes, dealing with customer enquiries and bookings, managing financial arrangements and booking speakers, trainers and venues – all are aspects of this vital and varied role.

Adventure Play and Youth Worker

Hours 18.5 £12,244.89 (full time salary equivalent £23,166-25,209)

Centre based role in Moss Side, Ardwick, Blackley and other locations across Manchester

Do you have the right mix of creativity and passion for working with children and young people, and a commitment to making a real difference?

Following an internal promotion we are recruiting an Adventure Play & Youth Worker at Manchester Young Lives, to provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11-16 after school and during the evenings.

Our work enables often disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to learn, develop and connect with their communities, build safe and supportive relationships with committed workers, and let off steam on our adventure playgrounds.

This role will primarily work from Manchester Young Lives Adventure Playgrounds and Centres in Ardwick and Moss Side, and a community venue in North Manchester.

18.5 hours a week term, as well as additional casual hours in the Easter, Summer and Christmas Holidays. Roles can work alongside daytime education or other work/personal commitments.

Manchester Young Lives is a 54-year-old children and young people’s charity that grew out of the inner city adventure play movement. We work to promote the social and education inclusion of children and young people, and are a warm supportive environment to work in. Training is provided and staff who do not hold recognised qualifications in play or youth work will be supported to achieve these.
