Business Development at Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is a leading UK organisation working with people seeking asylum and refugees to enable them to live with safety, dignity and to rebuild their lives. Our operational teams are based across England providing advice and specialist support to people on issues that impact their refugee protection journey: navigating the complex asylum system; addressing homelessness and poverty; accessing health care, education, and employment.
We operate four main service departments, Resettlement, Asylum, Integration & Employment and Children’s (IUSS & Youth Development). We also have a smaller Practice Development team supporting Refugee Community Organisations and frontline practitioners to develop their skills and capacity to meet the needs of people seeking asylum and refugees. Our Business Development team also sits within our services directorate, with close working with our Fundraising and External Affairs team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager (Interim) is a pivotal role supporting our services to provide high quality, sustainable support with people seeking asylum and refugees. It plays an essential role to support our operational managers and working with people with lived experience of the refugee protection system to co-design their service models, and secure support for them from statutory commissioners. It is also a key partner for fundraising and communications colleagues, finance and operational colleagues to ensure that the systems needed to mobilise, develop, and sustain our services are fit for purpose.
- Lead bid teams developing complex six and seven figure statutory bids and proposals for single entity and consortium/partnership proposal at regional and national level.
- Lead on design of key service models as directed by Head of Business Development, to develop viable new service models, that prioritise quality, impact and sustainability, and highlight potential contractual or financial risks by working with the Head of Business Development, Service Managers and Finance colleagues.

Main duties and responsibilities
1. Bgen Board and legal services:
a. Organise 4 Board meetings a year, prepare and circulate agendas and documents, take notes and share minutes.

c. Organise the Annual General Meeting.
d. Maintain up to date records of Trustees, and ensure they have access to Governing Documents, including notification of legal obligations.
e. Submit annual returns to the Charity Commission on time and help ensure compliance.
2. Member services:
a. Act as the first point of contact for current and potential members.
b. Support the Board with planning and promotion of training events (online or in-person), booking speakers and managing bookings.
c. Advise on and help implement an effective communications programme.
d. Update the Bgen website and promote on social media as required.
e. Keep membership records up to date and manage renewals annually.
f. Organise and distribute online mail-outs and newsletters.
g. Organise the jobs and volunteer opportunities service for members.
3. Conference planning
a. Coordinate annual conference (online or in-person) with support from the Training and Conference workstream.
b. Book speakers and workshop facilitators.
c. Help promote the conference with members, partners and wider sector via newsletter and social media channels.
d. Manage bookings, participants list and send out conference pack.
e. Organise catering with venue and relevant workstream.
f. Coordinate conference logistics and event management.
4. Finance
a. Work closely with the Treasurer, Treasury group and bookkeeper in preparing financial reports.
b. Administer general accounts – invoices, receipts etc.
c. Manage conference budget.

Your role
This role will be required to manage a team of face-to-face fundraisers who will sign up regular supporters within a defined geographical area (two main hubs are in Newcastle and Scarborough) and raise vital long-term funding for the charity. This will include opportunities to work alongside other specialist teams including our volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards, playing an integral part in reaching both local and team income targets and contributing towards the wider objectives of the RNLI.
As a Face-to-Face Fundraising Manager, you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:
- Recruit, train and performance manage a team of motivated Face to Face Fundraisers
- Manage and develop a portfolio of fundraising locations in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Cleveland and Yorkshire areas
- Measure performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) i.e. targets and budget
- Create and execute detailed delivery plans, mitigating for risks and opportunities
- Maintain and develop internal and external stakeholder relationships
About you
Working at the frontline of our fundraising activities, you’ll have excellent communication skills, people management capabilities, proven track record of working to targets and a passion to manage a team who engage with the beach-going public and event visitors to get their commitment for regular support for the cause.
You’ll be an effective team player with a pragmatic and solution-focused approach to problem solving and a calm approach to a busy workload. You’ll be positive, confident, determined, resilient, with very strong communication skills and naturally outgoing.
You’ll be a self-starter who can lead an energetic and innovative team to success. Able to adhere to codes of conduct, policies and be Fundraising Regulator compliant in all that you do and deliver. You’ll be flexible and prepared to work out of office hours with considerable travel throughout the year, peaking through the summer months. Substantial annual leave during the summer would not be practical for this role.
To be considered as the Face-to-Face Manager (North East), you will need:
- Ideally, proven experience and success in face-to-face fundraising. This will either have been gained working for a charity or a fundraising agency or regional sales experience
- Excellent people management skills and evidence of managing and motivating a team of paid staff or volunteers to achieve goals/targets
- Excellent communication skills and teamworking ethos
- Self-motivation and ability to create and prioritise own workload
- This post requires a valid driving licence

You will be part of our administrative team providing support across a range of functions within the HS; managing Excel spreadsheets, inputting and raising invoices; managing calls to and from a range of people including those bereaved by homicide and generally supporting the Homicide Service to run smoothly. We support staff and volunteers to keep them safe within their role and you will given all the training you need to be able to manage your role effectively. About the role:

About the role:
This role is home based with some travel requirements for meetings, training and occasional visits to a local office. You will need to work one Saturday a month with a day off in lieu.

- manage all of the referrals coming into the project using a case management system and work towards increasing our confirmed bookings.
- provide a high quality administration service whilst being compassionate and non-judgemental responding to queries efficiently.
- manage a demanding workload and will need to be able to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical way.
You will need:
- Experience of carrying out a variety of administration tasks including writing letters, managing bookings and responding to internal and external queries in a professional way.
- The ability to communicate with people at all levels; offenders, police, partner agencies, facilitators and volunteers both in verbal and written format.
- Experience of using a case management system to record client information and manage course bookings.

Job Title: Programmes Administrator
Salary: £22,500.00
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Home based

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.
Our Programme Delivery Team is an integral part of our for every parent strategy, we support our commissioned contracts, our branch Infant feeding support and our Infant Feeding line on free at point of access support across the UK.
We are seeking a capable Programmes Administrator to provide administrative support for our Project teams, NCT Baby Cafes, NCT Infant Feeding Line and our Peer Support Team. The post holder will work with the staff, practitioners and volunteer teams to ensure the smooth delivery of our projects within Programme Delivery.
About the Role
Working closely with the contracts manager, our projects teams, commissioned services manager and our infant feeding services manager, you will be responsible administration support across the Programme Delivery department:
· Supporting branches with delivering drop-ins and peer support training,
· Reviewing grant documentation
· Support branch funded services including generating contract documentation.
· Monitoring budget
· Generate contract assignments for NCT Practitioners delivering on branch contracts including management of NCT Practitioner holiday and sickness cover.
· Approving expense claims for practitioners and staff within our programmes.
· Support with administration of volunteer peer supporters and the central training of cohorts.
You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily and have a keen attention to detail.

Elrha is a global organisation that finds solutions to complex humanitarian problems through research and innovation. We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Grant Operations and Finance (GOF) team.
Our GOF team sits within the larger operations function under the Director of Finance & Operations. The team is responsible for managing Elrha's financial planning, management and reporting; and leads on the operational aspects of grant management.
As our new Management Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our programmes and activities run smoothly and efficiently. Supporting the Head of GOF, you will complete financial activities and reports, manage statutory and project audits plus develop (and improve) financial management processes.
You will be analytical, resourceful and have strong technical accounting, financial management and reporting experience. It is essential that you are either a qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent), or part-qualified with relevant experience.
Your application will need to demonstrate:
- Experience in the financial management of grants from institutional donors within the International Aid Sector.
- Experience of managing restricted expenditure and reporting to institutional donors.
- Experience in the management of budgets and financial management information with complex funding arrangements.
- An understanding of grantee financial management and compliance
- Strong understanding of risk management and audit principles
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, specifically Excel
- An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, ideally demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work.
Experience of grant management, knowledge of IATI, and knowledge of accounting/tax principles relating to charities would also be an advantage.
