The Volunteer and Community Development Coordinator will work with the Director to deliver Hope St Mellons’ commitment to invest in volunteering; helping to support, sustain and develop work with volunteers at the Beacon Centre and through Hope St Mellons activities across St Mellons. This role will support the coordination of existing and emerging volunteer roles and volunteer-led community development in Hope St Mellons.

This vacancy has arisen as the result of the retirement of our current Fundraising & Marketing Director in Spring 2025. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take over this pivotal role within the charity.
Based across our two sites in North Weald and Earls Colne (Colchester), you will oversee the strategic management of our charity's fundraising, marketing, and communications. You will lead in the creation, development, and implementation of a range of revenue-focused strategies, and have overall accountability for a large team that generates the funds needed to keep the service operational. As a key member of our Executive Team, you'll collaborate closely with our CEO and other members to drive the delivery of our short, medium, and long-term goals.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of robust and diverse income generation and marketing strategies that meet both the current, and future, operational needs of the charity with a focus on lottery growth.
- Advise and support the CEO and Board on all fundraising and marketing matters.
- Develop and deliver income diversification plans.
- Lead the team in a positive and inspirational way to maximise all opportunities across our region.
- Develop and build working relationships with key stakeholders and other air ambulance charities.
What we’re looking for
You will have extensive fundraising experience in a compatible context, specifically across key areas of income generation. You must be target driven to achieve income objectives set. You will have appropriate qualifications or be qualified through experience in fundraising and marketing and/or communications.
We're seeking an applicant with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a senior executive level, demonstrating sound judgement, political and commercial acumen, and exceptional planning and prioritisation skills. You must be resilient, target-focused, and capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines while delivering exceptional standards.

Job title: Senior Digital Project Manager
Responsible to: Head of Digital and Content Contract: 18 months
Location: Home based or hybrid office-based (Vauxhall). Some travel across England and Wales.
Working hours: Part-time – 28 per week
Salary: £42,000 per annum plus £3,323 London weighting if applicable (pro rata to part-time)

About the team:
This is an exciting role, joining our newly formed Digital and Content team. As the organisation continues to invest in its digital estate to support organisational goals, the role of Senior Digital Project Manager will play a key role. You will work with the Head of Digital and Content to build a brilliant website and digital products, which meet the needs of our carers and our other key audiences.
What you need to know about this role:
In 2023, we launched an online information hub for our carers where they can find out about services that can support them in their journey. This currently sits separate to our main site. We are now working with Studio24 to bring these sites together, to create a unified user experience, with new website functionality. A key consideration for this development is our recent Department for Education contract to deliver high quality training to carers across England. As part of this service, we must ensure that carers can seamlessly book online or face-to-face training through our website. Additionally, they should have access to a wide range of online information and advice content. While some of this functionality exists within our current digital estate, not all of it does and there is room for improvement. Therefore, the redevelopment project aims to create a cohesive website experience with clear user journeys and new functionality.
The type of person we’re looking for:
We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in project management and UX. You will be experienced in managing complex digital projects throughout their lifecycle. You will be able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication skills to engage both internal and external stakeholders. You will have a genuine passion for working with and involving users in meaningful ways and have a particular interest in accessible and inclusive design. You will be able to build rapport with internal stakeholders, keeping them up to date with digital developments, explaining things in easily accessible language and obtaining buy-in from across the organisation. We are seeking someone who is curious and excited about digital developments. Who wants to explore how they can make a difference to carers lives, while understanding risks and ethical considerations.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.
