Climate Campaigner: Fossil Fuels
The Climate Campaigner will be an essential member of EIA’s Climate Campaign team, focusing primarily on advancing a managed, equitable phase-out of fossil fuels. This role centres on supporting the expansion of the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance (BOGA), working to enhance its structure, broaden its membership, and identify effective pathways for developing a global governance framework on fossil fuels.
The Climate Campaigner will oversee the daily operations of key aspects of the fossil fuel campaign, ensuring the campaign strategy is delivered effectively and within established timelines. The role involves close collaboration and coordination, both within EIA and with external partners in the EU and globally.
About you:
Essential:
- undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field along with an understanding of climate change science and the role of fossil fuels
- Experience in advocacy and campaigning on global environmental policy is essential along with experience in conducting detailed targeted research projects and tasks
- An understanding of UNFCCC/UN General Assembly and UNEA processes and experience in engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, industry groups and the media is essential.
- Strong communication skills
- Professionalism and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to digest and integrate technical, scientific, policy and legal information as well as to relate it simply and persuasively to non-expert audiences
- Fluency in English, with knowledge of additional languages an advantage
- Ability to travel at short notice
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of the fossil fuel industry and related issues (e.g. renewables, subsidies, carbon capture & storage etc.)
- Familiarity with the fossil fuel phase-out campaigning environment

- Experience analysing complex social, political, economic and environmental parameters in ways that inform EIA’s work and communications

What we offer:
Location: Hybrid Working – offices in London Islington 2 days per week (3 or 4 days a week during induction and probation period) and home working. Some travel may be required as part of the role.
Hours: 40 hours per week, including a paid hour for lunch
Salary: £37,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Contract Type: Fixed term contract - 12 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability.
Holiday: Annual leave package of 25 days annual leave (+ days off between Xmas and New Year) + Bank Holidays + day off on your birthday, with an additional day per year up to a max of 29 days.

The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) is a UK-based charity who investigates and campaigns against environmental crime and abuse.
Our undercover investigations expose transnational wildlife and forest crimes. We work to safeguard global marine ecosystems by addressing the threats posed by plastic pollution, bycatch and commercial exploitation of whales, dolphins and porpoises. Finally, our climate campaign aims to keep global warming below 1.5°C and meet the climate challenge through rapid, sustained reductions of emissions of all the major greenhouse gases, including methane, nitrous oxide and refrigiren greenhouse gases.
EIA campaigns for changes to law and policy, both in domestic and international contexts, backed up by effective enforcement and progressive measures from the private sector. EIA focus on the decision-makers with the power to deliver change, but uses a variety of approaches, tools and methods to influence them. These approaches can include investigations, direct advocacy, community-based work and awareness-raising to galvanise broad public support. Much of EIA’s work involves strong multi-stakeholder partnerships working especially in countries most threatened by environmental crime and degradation.

As a Face-to-Face Fundraising Area Manager, you will lead the fundraising team in the Northern Ireland. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with your team to meet and exceed fundraising targets; leading, coaching and inspiring fundraisers to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coaching: You'll be at the heart of recruitment, training, and developing Fundraisers, helping them meet and exceed their targets. You'll also fundraise alongside them, setting the example of a passionate and results-driven team leader.
- Monitoring & Performance: Track key performance metrics such as membership volume, donation amount (AAC), Gift Aid, direct debits and attrition rates to ensure your team’s fundraising efforts are always at their best. Conduct regular performance reviews, offer coaching, and help your team grow their fundraising skills.
- Logistics & Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team, ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, and uphold RSPB’ values of ethical fundraising.
- Travel: you will be expected to travel to different locations across Northern Ireland and on occasion more widely across the UK in order to support your team. As a result, a full driving licence that is valid in the UK is a requirement for this position.
- Weekend work: You’ll be expected to work weekends to support the fundraisers on busy shifts to maximise membership opportunity.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- A proven track record in face-to-face fundraising and team management, with leadership experience to recruit, motivate and guide your team to success.
- A self-motivated and a determined leader able to embed and lead a positive team culture of successful fundraisers.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, a strong understanding of ethical fundraising, good planning and organisational skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Confident in receiving and giving feedback regularly.

We're looking for a Community Fundraising Manager - it's a great opportunity to develop a plan and deliver a diverse portfolio of fundraising activities to engage people with our work and contribute to our income.
You will manage a team to help develop innovative fundraising products, grow our supporter base and provide exceptional supporter stewardship.
Income generation
- Responsible for supporting the development of a 3-year community fundraising income strategy to grow income from a modest base of £125k per year to circa £275k per year.
- Implement the operational plan for community fundraising income.
- Plan, develop and deliver new community fundraising products, campaigns and events that will resonate with stakeholders including members, donors and volunteers to fundraise.
- Work collaboratively with Comms, Marketing & Digital teams to develop and drive forward promotion of community fundraising to reach existing and new audiences, including developing content for social channels, e-comms, webpages and fundraising packs.
- Establish a network of community fundraisers, building relationships with community fundraising ‘champions’, and providing excellent supporter care and timely communication.
- Evaluate community fundraising projects regularly and make changes when necessary.
Leadership, management and collaboration
- Lead the community fundraising programme in line with Marine Conservation Society values and organisational culture.
- Contribute to fundraising cross-team planning and strategy development.
- Line management of 2 part-time Community Fundraising support roles with responsibility for operational delivery of their fundraising plans and performance management including, 1-2-1 meetings, appraisals, day-day performance management against KPI’s, motivation and objective setting.

Governance & reporting
- Manage the overall budget for community fundraising, including monitoring of income and expenditure against budget.

The Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer will work alongside the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications to help deliver Rising Sun’s fundraising targets during this exciting period of growth for the charity.
The main focus of the role is finding, attracting and stewarding new funders to help deliver Rising Sun’s life changing services. You will write compelling funding proposals that demonstrate the impact of our services and how we meet funders’ requirements. You will build strong relationships with grant officers from various foundations, providing regular updates and communicating challenges, solutions and successes as appropriate to develop our reputation as an effective, reliable and trustworthy organisation. Alongside this you will be nurturing our existing portfolio of funders to help prioritise multi-year funding.
Working with you in the Fundraising Team will be the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications, Trusts and Foundations Officer, Community Fundraising Officer and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Team. As part of the team you will help to develop fundraising materials such as case studies, impact reports and cases for support.
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who loves building and nurturing relationships and has a passion for fundraising. In addition, you will have excellent writing skills and experience of generating income from trusts and foundations to grow our income from this stream. As part of our committed team of approximately 50 staff, you will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who have experienced domestic abuse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage part of Rising Sun’s portfolio of income and fundraising activities related to trusts and foundations.
- Keep the trusts and foundations stream of the funding pipeline healthy and up to date, carrying out research into new opportunities and meeting application deadlines.
- Write compelling funding applications that answer funders’ questions and effectively communicate the mission, services and impact of Rising Sun.
- Develop appropriate fundraising tools, such as cases for support and impact reports.
- Support the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications to write bids for commissioned services and government funding opportunities.
- Liaise internally across the organisation to become familiar with our services and stay up to date with current trends to feed into funding applications and develop project proposals.
