We’re looking for a dedicated Case Officer to manage casework and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to beneficiaries on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

In this role, you will assess the needs of beneficiaries and collaborate with regional specialist teams and external service providers to ensure that support is delivered in an integrated and effective way. You will also develop creative, tailored solutions, drawing on contributions from volunteers, our members, and branches to meet beneficiaries' unique needs.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare to identify and address local beneficiary needs, helping shape the commissioning of specialist services. You will advise beneficiaries on available support and assist them in accessing the services they need, while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of statutory benefits. Building strong connections with local organizations to reach beneficiaries in the community will also be a key part of your work.

The role is primarily homebased with will have regular travel around the London region for internal meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area.

There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training / meetings.

Driving licence is essential requirement for this role.

The Trust is recruiting a creative and committed Research and Policy Officer to join our team, as fixed term cover for paternity leave. Reporting to one of the team’s Research and Policy Managers, the successful candidate will play a significant role in developing and preparing the Trust’s research and policy outputs, working across the core areas of the Sutton Trust’s work (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace). This will include helping to produce original, data rich and policy relevant research reports, along with contributing to other Trust research projects where required. They will also support the policy and advocacy work of the Trust, including performing background research on topics relevant to educational inequality and social mobility as required.

Main duties

• To contribute, with colleagues, to 2 or more data-rich research reports accessible to practitioners and policy makers, over the course of the year, as agreed with the Research, Comms and Policy leadership team.
• To support the Sutton Trust’s programme of research and policy work, including:
  • Providing staff with background research, analysis and data on relevant topics
  • Producing literature reviews
  • Supporting research funding bids
  • Providing administrative support
• Working with Communication colleagues to develop messaging and content for disseminating and publicising reports.
• Supporting advocacy work, as required, with MPs’ staff, civil servants, special advisers and other policy makers.
• Other duties as necessary from time to time

Person Specification

Essential:

• Strong analytical skills and understanding of research methods, particularly quantitative research and literature reviews. This should include experience of using data analysis software such as R/SPSS/Stata/Python or equivalent.
• A qualification in a social science or other numerate discipline, including statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data science or similar discipline in the social or natural sciences at undergraduate level, or comparable experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Personable, flexible and discreet; able to fit in to a small team
• Being sympathetic to the aims of the Trust and its mission to address educational disadvantage;
• Is eligible to work in the UK (see here for information about right to work)

Desirable:

• Experience undertaking research projects in an academic or working environment.
• Knowledge of one of more of our priority policy areas (early years, schools, apprenticeships, higher education and access to the workplace), and the wider education policy environment in England.
• Strong understanding of government and the public policy environment.
• Experience in education (for example, as a teacher or in another front-line educational role), education policy or a closely related field.
• Experience working within or an understanding of the not-for-profit sector.
• A postgraduate qualification in a numerate discipline (see above).

Terms of Appointment

• Contract: Full-time, 1-year fixed term contract

Westway Trust is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and forward-thinking Finance Officer (Property) to join our experienced, professional and friendly finance team to oversee the charging and collection of all property related income including rents, license fees service charges and ad-hoc recharges.

You will be a highly motivated Finance Officer with good organisational and analytical skills. The Masonic Charitable Foundation is looking for an experienced adviser to join our frontline Advice, Support & Enquiries Team managing all enquiries via the advice line and electronic/mail channels. Each month we receive hundreds of phone calls and emails from people who need our help. The team’s Advisers are often the first point of contact with the MCF and play a key role in our grants process.

You will need excellent customer service skills, a high level of personal resilience, ability to quickly build a good rapport with callers and be a team player who is willing to support colleagues and prioritise the needs of the team. Previous experience in a comparable role is desirable.

Day to day responsibilities include answering calls and responding to emails from individuals and families for a range of support (including daily living costs, health and care and education), liaising with our Advice and Support Advisers and Visiting Volunteers, awarding grants for counselling and consultations and keeping the grants system up to date.

We are hiring a Grassroots Development Officer at BVSC on a 2 year contract. Responsible to the Funding and Development Manager, the role of Grassroots Development Officer will be to support the growth and sustainability of small voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Bexley. This role is funded by the VCSE Capacity Building & Infrastructure Fund 2024/2025 through the South East London Integrated Care System (SEL ICS) and aims to enhance the effectiveness of smaller, often informal groups delivering services that are both ‘by and for’ their service users that are crucial in addressing local health and wellbeing needs for the ‘under-served’ but face significant challenges in visibility and support.

The Grassroots Development Officer will be responsible for providing a wide range of organisational development support services and activities to assist grassroots VCSE organisations to develop, thrive and remain sustainable. This role is particularly interested in working with groups who deliver services to young people, the elderly, minority ethnic (global majority) and migrant groups, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and residents in the north of the borough (areas with high deprivation and a higher proportion of small groups). 
You will be led by the VCSE sector within Bexley to ensure services are accessible, connected, consistent and to a high standard. Development work strives to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services. You will work flexibly and nimbly to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations. It's an exciting time to join us in the decade of our bicentenary as we focus on our Strategy to 2030. The RSPCA works 365 days a year, rescuing all animals of all types from abuse, neglect, and injury. 

Here's some of the key work you'll be doing: 

• Monitor, share and analyse policies, reports, news and announcements (including answers to Parliamentary Questions) from relevant bodies (such as the European Commission, Home Office and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology), proactively and on request, in order to help maintain the Animals in Science Department's knowledge base.
• Search for articles, research papers and general information relevant to the Department's work, to support the work of the scientific staff and maintain the Department's knowledge base regarding research animal welfare and use, ethics and the 3Rs.
• Undertake additional supporting tasks as required, such as helping to organise meetings; laying out and formatting publications; developing guidance and tools to enable further implementation of the 3Rs and robust ethical review of animal use, writing up meeting reports for publication.

Funded by the Department of Education, the National Peer Support Service is a game-changing service that creates a sustainable and life-changing legacy. It builds on Kinship’s 10 years of experience in developing peer support groups and two years of delivering a national service that has set up 145 new groups.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking an individual located in Greater London, and willing to travel across the South East of England who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to:

· Establish new Peer Support Groups across a diverse range of communities

· Supervise a small team of Peer Support Development Officers

· Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to inspire yourself and your team to achieve key targets and objectives

· Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective support services for the kinship community.

In the role of Senior Peer Support Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent, and sustainable peer support service that has a significant impact on the lives of kinship carers.

You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey towards sustainability.

As a practical thinker, you will work creatively to identify stakeholders and assets in areas of high need. You will build local connections and bring together kinship carers across the region, empowering them to build resilient and robust peer support communities.

You will be confident in building relationships that generate referrals from external stakeholders and in contacting kinship carers directly to secure engagement with local coffee mornings, community, and training events that will help kick start a thriving peer support group.

As you establish new groups, you will provide training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop their group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.

You will be an inspirational and energetic team leader with experience in providing day-to-day line management and operational support for a small team.

We are ideally looking for candidates based in or around Greater London and willing to work initially across the London Boroughs and into the South East of England. This role may involve work to establish groups on the periphery of this area that currently have no dedicated development staff.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential, as this role may require travel across London and its periphery to reach areas in need of dedicated support.

Key responsibilities: 

Service delivery:

• In person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local and regional communities including setting up and attending local engagement events.
• Work creatively to set up and develop new sustainable in peer support groups, attending up to six sessions in person (if needed) before transition to self-sufficiency.  Existing groups that are at risk, closed or need support will need replacing or rejuvenating to maintain DfE service level agreements across the team, in addition to new groups.

Place of work: 27a Pembridge Villas, London W11 3EP.  Some outreach work will be expected ranging from one-off events to placements within local organisations or community centres. 

Salary: £31,000 - £34,000 dependent on experience (generous 10% employer's pension contribution rising to 15%  after five years)

Hours of work: 37½ hours, Monday to Friday.  The usual working hours for this post are 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. Some start time flexibility could potentially be offered post-induction/training.

Holiday: 28 days per annum + Bank Holidays.

Training: Training and support in post is provided on an on-going basis and training in specific areas will be offered as need and interest arise. Following successful completion of the six-month probationary period undertaking a Level 3 QCF qualification in Advice and Guidance is mandatory.  There will also be an opportunity to undertake Level 4. The Charities are dedicated to the continuous professional growth of their staff, offering a generous training budget to support ongoing learning and development.

Please note this is a full-time job working 5 days a week. We have a hybrid working arrangement in place whereby Grants Officers will be working from the office at least 3 days a week depending on needs of the Charities’ and our beneficiaries. 

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory basic DBS check and two satisfactory references.
