Fundraising at BCYP
BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.
In this exciting newly created role, you will be responsible for helping to grow our income from grant- makers to design and promote funding opportunities, and to steward relationships with supporters through the giving cycle. We are looking for a fundraiser with at least three to four years of experience in identifying prospects and grant-writing, and who has experienced success in securing funds. Vitally, we want to recruit an individual who is as committed to Brent’s vision, and who will work with us to help us be there for young people in the coming years.
If you have a talent for story telling, are looking for a role where your words can make a lasting impact and are passionate about giving vulnerable young people life changing opportunities, then this is the job for you. We’re seeking a talented individual who can tell our story and help secure vital funding from trusts and grant-makers.
The Role
Trusts and other grant-makers are an important source of funding for our charity and the relationships we have with new and existing funders are more important than ever. This is where you come in.
As our Trusts Fundraising Officer, you’ll be an inspiring storyteller whose enthusiasm for our work shines through in your writing. You’ll play a key role in researching new funders, crafting compelling funding applications, and ensuring we meet reporting requirements for existing supporters.
Your work will involve developing impactful case studies and gathering evidence to show the need for our services to help secure sustainable funding. You’ll be supported by our experienced Trusts Fundraising Manager to build lasting relationships with funders. Together, you’ll keep them engaged and informed about the positive impact they’re making on the young people we support.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Outstanding communication skills – You can write clearly, persuasively and passionately. You’re confident speaking to others about the charity’s work.
-
Writing experience – You have experience writing successful funding applications, proposals, or compelling articles, ideally but not necessarily with a fundraising focus
-
Fundraising experience - You may not have written a grant application before but you should have some paid or voluntary experience in a fundraising capacity.
-
Attention to detail – You take pride in your work, have a good eye for detail and a thorough approach.
-
Self-motivation and organisation – You’re able to manage your own time and prioritise effectively.
-
Passion for the outdoors and youth development – You understand the importance of giving vulnerable young people outdoor experiences and are willing to put on your waterproofs and join in on our activities and camps to witness first-hand the difference the Youth Adventure Trust makes.
-
Willingness to learn - if you think you have what it takes but don’t have lots of experience as a Trusts Fundraiser, this role comes with plenty of scope to develop your writing skills and gain experience within a supportive team environment.
The Charity
At the Youth Adventure Trust, we use outdoor adventure and one-to-one support to empower vulnerable young people from Swindon, Wiltshire and Somerset to fulfil their potential and lead positive lives in the future. We work with them to build resilience, develop confidence and learn skills that will last a lifetime, helping them to face the challenges in their lives.
Dedicated support, guidance and mentoring from our staff and volunteers ensures young people receive the maximum benefit from our long term intervention. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people.
We’re proud to offer our programmes completely free of charge to participants, and with ambitious plans to help more young people, our fundraising efforts are more important than ever.

Refuge is the largest domestic abuse organisation in England. On any given day, our services support thousands of women and their children, helping them to overcome the physical, emotional, financial, and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives — free from fear.
Domestic abuse can be difficult to recognise. It’s complex. And it’s becoming even more so. Perpetrators are finding new ways to control, harass, and intimidate women. So what we do demands expertise as well as dedication. And we’ve worked hard to build both over 50 years. We’ve developed and expanded our services, from refuges to community support to specialist guidance. We’ve raised awareness, challenged attitudes, and campaigned for changes in law and policy. And we continue to collaborate across our sector.
We are looking for a new Chief Executive Officer to work with the Board of Trustees and senior leadership team to lead the organisation through Refuge’s next strategic phase, reshape the strategy and ensure all aspects of our work are laser-focused on achieving the vision. Capable of bringing together survivors, staff, trustees, external partners and wider supporters, you will galvanise those around you to imagine a world free from domestic abuse and steer us closer to it. You will be responsible for leading all aspects of our success, drawing on your deep experience to ensure above all that our services are safe, effective and survivor-led.

Job Title: Senior Fundraising Officer (Acquisition)
Location: London/Hybrid
Salary: £40,064.15 per annum
Weekly Hours: 35
Reference: YMC1027914
We’re looking for an ambitious individual, with a strong relationship-partnership mindset, and a passion for all things direct marketing.
It’s an exciting time to join the growing Fundraising team at YMCA England & Wales. You’ll join supportive, highly ambitious colleagues and be a key contributor in delivering the growth strategy for RoomSponsor, unrestricted cash and regular giving acquisition activities.
We’re looking for an expert in charity fundraising, someone who is solutions-focussed and takes an audience-led approach to decision-making. You’ll have demonstrable project management experience where you drove activities that achieved high-performing results. You’ll be able to spot unique, cost-effective and scaleable opportunities to shape and grow the Acquisition Programme.
As Senior Fundraising Officer you will:
- Deliver campaign targets through collaborative and timely project management of restricted and unrestricted activities – old and new.
- Be a curious mind and always on the lookout for new opportunities that would be cost-efficient, to help implement and contribute to, the Individual Giving growth strategy.
- Be a supportive and approachable colleague with a partnership mentality, working closely with both internal and external staff members to solve problems and achieve outcomes.
Across England and Wales, YMCA runs as a federation with 85 local YMCAs working independently to support young people to belong, contribute and thrive in their communities. We’re the largest provider of safe, supported accommodation for young people in England and Wales. We provide a home for more than 20,000 people experiencing homelessness each year.
YMCA England & Wales acts as a national council, supporting each local YMCA within our federation, enabling the development of national programmes and acting as a national voice with Government and decision-makers.
We can’t wait to read your application. Please submit your up to date CV and covering letter (no more than 2 pages A4).
Our recruitment process is anonymised and candidates' names are hidden. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly those from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, who are currently under-represented throughout YMCA England & Wales. Safer recruitment is important to us and the successful applicant will be asked to provide two references. They will also be required to complete a safeguarding self-declaration, safeguarding training and undertake a DBS check.
Using Anonymous Recruitment
This organisation is using Anonymous Recruitment to reduce bias in the first stages of the hiring process. Our system keeps your personal information hidden until the recruiter contacts you.
Causeway Education is a charity supporting young people to overcome barriers in accessing Higher Education and apprenticeships. Our mission is to ensure students have the support they need to explore options effectively, make ambitious choices and produce outstanding university, college and apprenticeship applications.
We are looking for a dynamic and organised Programmes Officer to join us on the next stage of our journey. Our work is more urgent than ever, and we are scaling up to meet this challenge. If you share our passion for ensuring progression is not determined by privilege, then we’d love to hear from you.
We actively work to improve diversity in Higher Education and apprenticeships, therefore personal experience of facing related barriers, or experience of supporting young people from underrepresented groups, will be a valuable asset to the organisation.
We are a small and friendly team. Although we work from home, we meet up at least monthly and we have established a number of ways to keep in regular contact and continue to support each other. We will go out of our way to welcome a new member of the team.
