About the role:
This role is home based with some travel requirements for meetings, training and visits into one of our offices for printing and postage. The post holder will be required to work one Saturday a month with the remaining hours scheduled flexibly (4.5 hours a day) and can be discussed at interview. Our Victim Awareness Course is a rehabilitative course designed to reduce reoffending thro?ugh increasing victim empathy and improving attitudes and thinking towards crime. Like the Speed Awareness Course, it is not designed to humiliate or hold offenders to account but it is intended to educate them to understand the impact that their actions & choices have had on victims, their loved-ones, themselves and the wider community.
As a VAC administrator you will be:
- the first point of contact for all those needing to complete one of our interventions and our partners.
- manage all of the referrals coming into the project using a case management system and work towards increasing our confirmed bookings.
- provide a high quality administration service whilst being compassionate and non-judgemental responding to queries efficiently.
- manage a demanding workload and will need to be able to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical way.
You will need:
Experience of carrying out a variety of administration tasks including writing letters, managing bookings and responding to internal and external queries in a professional way.
The ability to communicate with people at all levels; offenders, police, partner agencies, facilitators and volunteers both in verbal and written format.
Experience of using a case management system to record client information and manage course bookings.
To demonstrate effective and compassionate customer service across a diverse customer base.

We are recruiting a Part Time Support Worker for our Look Ahead refuge to support and empower women to move on successfully with their lives.
The service supports 15 women with/out children in self contained units. The aim of the service is to support women to rebuild their lives following a period of abuse, preparing them to move on within a 6-month period to an accommodation type of their choice either in or out of borough.
We are looking to recruit a part time, enthusiastic and energetic customer focused support worker to join our service and dynamic team. Support workers deliver support along side the in house Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to address the safety of victims, survivors at high risk of harm and to equip women with the tools to move on within the allocated period.
The role requires some flexibility as the post holder will work shifts on 20 hours shared rota which includes weekend's shifts and out of hours on call rota.

What you'll do:
Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the service Manager
To empower and support women and children in the refuge to keep safe and move on successfully with their lives
Complete DASH Risk Assessments, conduct comprehensive and regular customer risk assessments to ensure their safety and wellbeing
Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
Provide practical assistance to support customers to work towards the goals in their support plan (e.g. supporting benefits applications, attending medical appointments and appointments with external agencies
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
Liaise with external agencies such as the Police, MARAC, Social Services and GPs
Help customers to integrate into their local area and access local educational, social, wellbeing and community activities, resources and opportunities
Monitor rent account, encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
Manage customer referrals, completing Dash Risk Assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork

Young Responders is an exciting new St John Ambulance project which has been made possible by funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and awarded through Postcode Innovation Trust. The project aims to engage and empower young people from diverse communities who face the greatest health inequities to become active health citizens, through peer-to-peer learning and practical physical and mental health first aid sessions relevant to the challenges they face. Aimed at young people aged 14 to 25 (or 11 to 25 for broad access), who would not typically come through our doors. Young Responders will use existing St John young people and volunteers to deliver first aid training to young people from under-served communities. To deliver this ambition, young people and volunteers will become Community Champions who will deliver sessions that are local to young people and reflective of their needs and those of the community in which they live. The Facilitator will be responsible for directly leading and delivering first aid training sessions with community organisations and educational settings. This role will also offer pastoral support to those delivering sessions to support their welfare and wellbeing.

The opportunity
The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA) is the charity for the working animals of the world. Since 1923, working through a series of global projects and partnerships across 23 low-income countries, SPANA has supported the welfare of working donkeys, horses, camels, oxen and other working animals in communities that depend on them for water, transport, agriculture, and their very survival.
As part of the charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, SPANA is recruiting a Communications Officer. In this role, you will proactively develop and drive work to generate awareness and support for SPANA, and ensure working animals are represented in the global news agenda.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Communications Officer professional, who has a strong knowledge of and commitment to working animal welfare. Your key responsibilities include:
Media and PR
- Deliver local, national and international PR (both online and offline), supporting awareness-raising, global programmes, emergency, fundraising and advocacy activities and campaigns.
- Implement media plans in line with the global fundraising, marketing and communications strategy and in support of communications KPIs.
- Organise PR engagements and activities for media and other stakeholders as required.
- Produce and distribute press releases, articles, statements, case studies, Q&A sheets, position statements, briefings, press packs and other media materials.
- Identify opportunities for, and support the development of, appropriate content (video, imagery etc) for media release.
- Oversee the production of video news releases or other content for broadcasters and digital media, assisting and supporting the content team in editing footage.
Communications and campaigns
- Work with the Communications and Campaigns team and colleagues to plan and implement strategic communications designed to grow awareness and understanding of the charity’s work and support income generation activities.
- Work with Global Programmes staff to identify and realise potential stories of geopolitical importance (e.g. conflict and security, climate, food security, gender issues).
- Work with the Global Programmes team to realise opportunities arising from advocacy work.
Brand and content
- Write copy for SPANA publications, marketing materials and digital channels, such as the website and social media.
- Work with the Senior Content Officer, in-country teams and freelancers, to develop, catalogue and select content (photography, video, case studies).
- Oversee the production of promotional materials as required.
- Proof copy and review materials against brand guidelines on behalf of staff from across the charity.
Other
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in PR and communications.
- Contribute to SPANA content on third-party sites (e.g. Wikipedia).
- Monitor sector activity and advise key staff of relevant developments.

Your knowledge:

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to live independently. Support workers must monitor and assess the needs of the customers and provide creative and tailored person centred support to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. The Research Officer will report into the Head of Research and provide a wide and extensive range of administrative support to the charity’s research grant programme. This includes supporting and taking responsibility of aspects of the grant review process, maintaining grant records and organising meetings. The post holder will liaise with bowel cancer researchers and clinicians and our research committee members. The post holder will need to be a team player with excellent communication and people skills and must be proactive, resilient, and capable of organising and managing a varied workload. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running, someone who is passionate about science and ideally with some experience of grant administration.

We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our newly established Health Team. This specialist role will enhance our current provision and improve the quality and breadth of mental health support available to young people. The successful candidate will work within the Health Team, in collaboration with our partner organisation Camden & Islington Young People's Service, to deliver 1:1 emotional and practical support, assist in our drop-in service, and facilitate workshops for all young people experiencing homelessness.
You will specialise in helping young people improve their self-confidence while improving their understanding of difficult emotions such as anger. Additionally, you will focus on developing their thinking and practical skills, as well as coping and de-escalation strategies. Your work will aim to improve relationships among young people within the day centre, and continue to promote trauma informed working practices across New Horizon, so that all of our services are designed to address the psychological and emotional needs of young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness.
You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an important and innovative new role. You will be provided with your own theraputic support delivered by a highly experienced clinical psychologist and regular individual and group clinical supervision. About the role:
This post is open to applicants who identify as being from Black & Minoritised Ethnic Communities only, as this is deemed a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.
This role offers flexibility for home and office working with travel to appointments to meet clients across London as required. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor- BMEC you will:
- Provide a proactive, high quality & trauma-informed support service to survivors of domestic violence and abuse, with a particular focus on black and minoritised ethnic communities
- Carry out risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy & prevention & recovery work
- Work with relevant service providers to create effective referral pathways
- Manage a caseload, including those assessed at high risk of harm
- Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma & additional barriers to access that survivors from black and minoritised ethnic communities may experience
You will need:
- A passion for working with victim/survivors & an understanding of domestic abuse & its impact
- Knowledge of the issues those from Black & minoritised communities face
- A non-judgemental, non-directive and anti-discriminatory approach to empowering victims/survivors
- The ability to speak another language, particularly- Polish, Ukrainian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Tamil, Turkish, Kurdish, Russian , Somali, Yoruba, Akan, French, Lingala, Igbo, Gujarati, Arabic, Sylheti/Bengali, Hindi, Urdu or Spanish is desirable
