Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Middlewich & District Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.

What will you be doing?

This role involves leading on any safeguarding issues, policies or concerns, ensuring that the Board of Trustees at Middlewich & District Foodbank are aware and kept up to date in regard to the legal, regulatory and governance responsibilities of the charity regarding the care of all who enter the food bank, including staff and volunteers.

Key tasks:

Trustee (Safeguarding Lead) Responsibilities: 

• to ensure that the Trustee board understand their legal and regulatory responsibility on matters of safeguarding for the charity.
• to ensure, along with operational management support, that all safeguarding policies and risk assessments are in place and kept up to date with the changing internal and external environment
• to continuously keep up to date with all safeguarding legislation/regulations, to be able to reflect these changes in the food bank distribution centres/warehouse in the relevant manner.
• to ensure that all safeguarding issues are reported to yourself for the trustee board to be informed.
• along with operational management support, to ensure that all relevant staff, trustees or volunteers are suitably trained and aware of the correct process to follow if any safeguarding concerns arise, including how to raise a concern to the relevant authorities.

Other responsibilities, along with the board of trustees, include:

• to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives.
• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity.
• to ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated.
• to review and approve financial statements.
• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equity, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding and GDPR compliance/data protection.
• to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.

• a knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and a charity’s responsibility, training will be available

• Record the support offered to veterans accordingly and appropriately.
• Complete monitoring reports.

• Be over 21.
• Have a good level of fitness to able to move around a prison quickly - including stairs.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Awareness of boundaries and confidentiality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including prison staff, other agencies, SSAFA colleagues and clients.
• Positive, committed and non-judgemental. Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude.
• Good IT skills.

We are thrilled to welcome a Fundraising & Administrative Assistant to support our Operational Director at a pivotal time for our charity.

After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to learn about charity structure, develop skills within the third sector and grow with the charity.

We are looking for a passionate and articulate person to fill this role. We welcome applicants who may not have prior experience in the third sector but are enthusiastic and eager to learn. What this position entails

This role combines fundraising development and research efforts to secure essential funding for the charity, along with various administrative duties to assist the Operational Director in ensuring smooth operations.

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary assignment, as this role will involve a substantial amount of training and development. Volunteer opportunity to help White Ribbon Aliiance UK's update our website content and configuration so that they are relevant, engaging and user-friendly to support our mission to improve maternal and reproductive health.

Role: Website Management Volunteer (Volunteer, unpaid)

About White Ribbon Alliance UK: We prioritise the eradication of gender-based violence and the promotion of gender equity in sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially for marginalised and underrepresented communities. We enable access to unbiased and evidenced-based resources, education, and support for women, girls, and trans individuals. We influence healthcare professionals, hospital systems, policy makers, and the public to centre the human rights of women, girls and trans men, intersex, and non-binary people throughout the lifecycle of their sexual health needs. 

Purpose of the Role: The Volunteer Website Manager will support White Ribbon Alliance UK's efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health by helping us on a two month project working to polish up our websites to keep them relevant, up to date and engaging for members of the public. 

Our aspirations for activities the volunteer would perform:

• Review our websites and provide constructive feedback and pragmatic recommendations for improvement.

• Update and maintain our website, ensuring it’s visually appealing and aligns with our brand.

• Ensure that content on our websites meets with internal and external policies and guidelines.

• Work with our team to understand website needs and integrate feedback for improvements.

• Utilise SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for collaboration and document management. 

• Handle ad hoc work required by the charity such as social media, copy writing, administrative tasks, etc.

NOTE: We are looking for volunteers who can reliably contribute 5 or more hours per week for an 8-10 week period to the charity. 

Necessary skills and qualifications:

• Proven expertise in creating and maintaining websites.

• Interest in sexual and reproductive health (SRHR). 

• Strong understanding of, and passion for, intersectional feminism. 

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Familiarity with website building tools such as GoDaddy, Squarespace, and Wix.

• Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms. 

Desirable skills and qualifications: ​

• Photo and video editing skills. 

• Social media content creation skills.

• A basic understanding of HTML.
