Your role will involve supporting people to adopt healthier lifestyles, enabling them to better manage their long-term conditions and mitigate the impact of these.

A key aspect of this role is directing patients to appropriate services including activities that may help to promote their health, wellbeing and independence across the voluntary and community sector.

Official Job Title: Early Literacy Interventionist 

Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you keen to work with children to support and develop their phonics and reading skills? 

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children. 

We are seeking a part-time Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI), based at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark, South London. This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.

For your caseload of target children, you will conduct an initial baseline assessment and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

Main purpose of the role:

As Team Leader you will line manage a team of adult social care Support Workers who support adults with learning disabilities, in a supported Living house.

The Team Leader supports the Registered Care Manager in creating and promoting community and a sense of home, leading the service delivery in line with L’Arche values, traditions and standards, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC]. 

As our Team Leader, you will be responsible for the smooth and safe running of one of our supported living houses. This will include managing and creating the monthly rotas, updating and managing digital care plans and risk assessments, supporting and supervising assistants (including inducting new team members).  Also, overseeing reporting such as medication records, health and safety, and quality assurance checks, implementing the planning and undertaking of meaningful activity, taking part in support reviews, ensuring training is relevant and up to date, and working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain a high quality of care.

Essential Criteria

• Experience of leadership in adult social care in a supported living or care home setting;
• A record of accomplishment of effectively leading and managing team performance, such as providing clear objectives, reviewing outcomes, putting in place develpment plans, and taking appropriate action to deal with poor performance;
• Ability to guide, support and teach the essential skills of supporting people with disabilities;
• Supportive of the identity, mission and values of L'Arche and enthusiastic about working within a community organisation rated Outstanding by the CQC;

Summary of role

The Community Fundraising Lead will work as part of the Partnerships team. The role will collaborate on the development of the community fundraising strategy and will lead on its implementation. Core Responsibilities

• Drive revenue via community fundraising generated by individual fundraisers, employees of our corporate partner base and small businesses supporting Choose Love

• Collaborate with partnerships comms and digital teams on the creation of community fundraiser journey, downloadable pack and assets for fundraisers and ensure these are kept up to date

• Act as the key point of contact for Choose love community fundraisers, helping keep them informed and supported and giving them the tools to maximise their donations 

• Work towards fundraising targets by building Choose Love's community fundraising activity

• Regularly identify and explore new opportunities for fundraising

Events Assistance

• Event support for both Choose Love events and external events organised by VIPs, community fundraisers and other stakeholders - this can be everything from tracking RSVPs to arranging printed materials, payment devices, merchandise and coordinating corporate volunteers at the event

• Assisting with elements of the Choose Love Shop, as required, including logistics, facilities, technology, being an onsite point of contact for talent, corporate volunteers and other stakeholders and occasional shop shifts to help out at busy times

• Running ad hoc pop up merch stalls with corporate partners

• Running festival stalls 

General Partnerships 

• Working collaboratively with the team and Choose Love Leadership to creatively and practically build the Partnerships team’s fundraising revenue

About the Role

The Finance & Administration Assistant is a newly created role that will provide various parts of the organisation with administrative support, as well as some receptionist duties. This dynamic role will sit within the Finance team and report to the Director of Finance, however it will directly support the areas of Administration, Finance, Fundraising, and three different Service Delivery functions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative tasks

• Manage external communications through post, telephone and email, ensuring information is redirected to the relevant person to be dealt with efficiently and effectively.
• Support service/department managers with necessary purchasing.
•  Keep up to date record of monthly invoicing information for services and liaise between the Senior Finance Officer and the Service Managers to ensure this system is running efficiently and effectively.

Finance related tasks

•  Manage Petty Cash transactions on site, ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept at all times, and perform the bank runs.
• Collect and check monthly debit card and credit card reports with all necessary Purchase Invoices and PO’s from the card holders.
•  Assist the Finance Officer in processing expenditure: checking Purchase Invoices against PO’s, ensuring that all authorisations are in place, and posting expenditure on the QuickBooks database.
• Assist the Senior Finance Officer in sending out statements to overdue Debtors from QuickBooks.

Fundraising related tasks

• Process donation payments received via cheque, cash or PayPal and similar platforms onto the Beacon database.
•  Assist the Fundraising Manager in keeping the Beacon database up to date with donations/grants received, gift aid eligibility and forms, and grant contracts.
• Instigate periodic thank-you letters to donors.

The Head of Fundraising & Events will contribute to the growth of upReach through the raising of significant funds; you will have oversight of income generation from various sources including major donors, individuals, trusts & foundations and a portfolio of events. The role will suit innovative individuals with significant experience of fundraising from major donors and at least one of the other specified income streams, and event planning. 

You will represent upReach externally, advocating our work and building strategic relationships across our markets. You will be accountable for agreed income targets, developing the fundraising strategy and identifying new opportunities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Fundraising & Events will support upReach's mission by meeting financial targets, recognising when to make the fundraising ‘ask’ and leading the annual budget process. You will use clear, creative written communication to produce convincing cases for support, represent the charity at relevant networking events, work closely with the upReach Development Board and act as an ambassador for the organisation.

Reporting to the Director of Income Generation and External Engagement you will manage three direct reports and support individuals participating in the Future Charity Leaders Programme (upReach’s graduate scheme). You will work closely with  the CEO, Programmes and Finance teams and colleagues across the income generating and external engagement team.

The core responsibilities include: 

Leadership and strategy 

• Lead income generation to realise financial targets in line with the overarching strategy, personal responsibility for securing 5 and 6 figure gifts. 

• Provide leadership and inspire staff and volunteers to excel and achieve, champion the upReach values and defined Leadership qualities.

• Commit to the annual appraisal process, including deadlines and develop stretching, SMART OKRs (objectives and key results) to meet our strategic goals. 

• Deputise for the Director in their absence and play an active role in the Leadership team.

• Lead the strategic and operational planning process for the functional areas of responsibility and ensure the involvement of relevant stakeholders. 

• Keep abreast of developments, changes in trends and patterns, new techniques and legislation. Take responsibility for own professional development.

• Ensure planned activity is delivered in compliance with relevant charity law, other legislation, best practice and corporate policy.

• Act as a senior sounding board to ensure strategic decisions regarding donors and funders resonate with our objectives and mission.

• Collate and present timely monthly management reports for each income stream.

• Lead the annual budget and financial forecasting processes to facilitate reporting and  strategic-decision making.

Working with stakeholders (internal and external) 

• Collaborate with colleagues in the income generation and external engagement team to identify and secure all various income generating and profile raising opportunities, ensuring maximum impact and contribution from funders. 

• Lead, champion and model a culture of outstanding donor stewardship and supporter care; including best practice and behaviour. 

• Develop and foster effective relationships with key external contacts at all levels, e.g. donors, supporters, suppliers. 

• Make the fundraising ‘ask’ as and when appropriate, or support others to do so.

• Respond promptly to requests for information and action from supporters.

• Report and disseminate the key issues to emerge from supporter feedback. 

• Manage the complaints procedures for the department and conduct full investigation of all complaints received by the department.

Developing, maintaining systems and procedures 

• Determine and manage the operating systems needed to deliver activity and enable effective donor, supporter and volunteer relationship management. 

• Effectively develop the donor journey.

• Ensure records in the CRM are up to date.

• Conduct analysis of data from across functions responsible for, drawing conclusions, making recommendations to the Director. 

• Ensure the management of systems and processes comply with the organisation’s data protection obligations, charity law and other legal requirements.

People Management and Team Working

• Recruit and lead the Fundraising & Events team, rotatees and volunteers as required.

• Ensure upReach promotes a high performance culture and professional integrity.

Major Donors and Individuals

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies to grow income.

• Develop a legacies strategy and oversee delivery of awareness campaign.

Events

• Oversee the delivery of a sector leading events portfolio, achieving 5 and 6 figure income targets and building a pipeline of future activity.

• Lead the team on the delivery of multiple and complex events and activities at the same time including the Student Social Mobility Awards (SSMA’s).

• Engage, steward and motivate key stakeholders including the Development Board, potential event committee members and other high value volunteers to grow our network and deliver successful fundraising events.

Trusts, Foundations & Corporates

• Oversight of Trusts, Foundation & Corporate fundraising strategy.

• Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager to identify and build relationships with Companies, Trusts and Foundations which are mission and/or programme aligned.

• Support the acquisition of new, multi year funders and existing donors.

Other

• Regular out of office work may be required in order that the organisation is able to deliver on its commitments to its stakeholders

Relationship Fundraiser

1.0 Job Purpose

The Relationship Fundraiser plays a crucial role in supporting the Relationship Manager in advancing North Yorkshire Hospice Care’s mission by assisting in the enhancement and management of relationships with individual donors.

The Relationship Fundraiser will assist in identifying potential donors, understanding their motivations, and contributing to tailored engagement strategies. Through these efforts, the fundraiser will help to ensure donors feel valued and connected to the charity's cause.

This role will primarily focus on growing and maintaining various fundraising avenues, including in memory, regular giving, facilitating legacy gifts or bequests in wills, and singular donations. The role aims to maximise opportunities for donor engagement and individual giving.

2.0 Key Tasks

• In-Memorium Fundraising Support: Assist in implementing sensitive and impactful strategies to encourage donations in memory of loved ones, ensuring memories are honoured and families and friends are supported throughout their giving journey.
• Regular Giving Support: Aid in driving the regular giving program to secure a sustainable income stream. This will involve supporting in creating tailored appeals, managing communications, and contributing to enhancing donor satisfaction and retention through regular updates and engagements.
• General Donations Assistance: Provide support in overseeing the process for general donations, maximising the ease and effectiveness of one-time and ongoing contributions. In the event of an academy conversion, transfer, or merger, the postholder would also undertake the following duties:   Convene and manage a project group comprised of representatives from the school, the Academy Trust and Birmingham City Council if appropriate. Manage all project documentation (including a comprehensive and regularly updated project plan, a register of risks and issues, an action tracker, project meeting notes, and reports to Trustees). Lead a thorough due diligence process. Support the incoming school to run a consultation process. Liaise with the Academy Trust’s legal advisers, Birmingham City Council, the DfE and other parties to bring about the completion of necessary land transfers, funding agreements, commercial transfer agreements and any required supplementary agreements. Manage the school’s integration into the Academy Trust’s operating model, ensuring that operational leads from relevant departments are kept informed of the project’s progress and issues and deliver any integration requirements. Act as a point of contact and support for operational leads, presenting issues and information arising from the due diligence process advising where actions are required. Develop and manage conversion budgets in collaboration with the Finance Department. Report to the appropriate board on project progress and risk mitigation.

2026 Foundation Strategy

• Prepare for the next iteration of the Foundation Strategy, supporting the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Strategic Management to research, write, communicate, refine, and then implement the strategy.

Leadership and Management

• Deputise for the Director of Strategic Management. Be accountable for the achievement of relevant objectives and associated key performance indicators set from the Foundation Strategy. As appropriate, represent the Foundation’s and Academy Trust’s interests in relevant internal and external fora. Play a full part in the life of the Foundation’s and Academy Trust’s communities and support its ethos.
