Overall purpose

Our Youth Club helps young people with complex medical needs and/or special educational needs to build confidence and develop independence and life skills. The Youth Club assistant will help the Activity Leads deliver our youth club for these young people and their siblings.

What will you do?

• Assist with various sports and leisure activities (e.g. table tennis, bowling, climbing), supporting the young people attending the club to participate
• Work with young people 1:1 or in small groups
• Help set up and clear away at the beginning and end of the sessions
• Participate in a briefing and de-briefing session before and after the club to help evaluate the skills, strengths and weaknesses of the young people after each session
• Help with any special projects the young people would like to do
• Attend initial training (half day)
• Attend a 1 hour supervision monthly meeting
• Liaise with the Youth club Lead in case of questions/difficulties
• Follow The Maypole Project policies and guidelines at all times whilst volunteering

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the London Borough of Sutton Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. That could be helping someone access local information about the care or benefits they need or giving them a hand with a grant application.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need. 

Time commitment

Nova New Opportunities is an educational charity based near Ladbroke Grove. As we ease out of London, we are looking for volunteers to help on day trips in and around London to support families in getting back to normality again.

Trips will include anything from horse riding through to the beach, farms and Kew Gardens. This is an opportunity to help families from marginalised communities while gaining experience of working with a small, friendly and supportive charity.

Volunteers will help the group leader to accompany groups of parents/guardians and their children on a variety of cultural/fun trips, helping to make them feel welcome. 

Suitable volunteers will be reliable and sociable and enjoy working with children. Volunteers must be available for day trips during school holidays, as this is when most of the trips take place.

Volunteers receive a full induction, and support from the Children and Young People Coordinator. Travel expenses on the outings and any entrance fees are covered, and some further expenses can also be claimed.

Our busy Homework Club is part of our delivery of child and family support services, in order that low income and vulnerable families have improved access to services, employment opportunities and life chances.

In response to requests from parents and young people, the Centre provides after-school Homework and Study clubs during term time. Children from three local primary schools, and a few from Year 7 attend the club.  Many come from families where English is a second language.

Volunteers sit on a table with 1 or 2 children and provide help with their homework, maths and English work mostly, and some reading.  Volunteers commit to one session a week on Friday (3.30 – 5.30pm).

Our helpline takes over 8000 calls a year, with call volume increasing 25% each year. 75% of our calls are from people in crisis and 20% involve children at risk of harm. To help us maintain an efficient service, we need volunteers to help administer our calls, you would not be expected to give expert advice. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely for The Royal Marsden, a world 
leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the 
very best care and develop life-saving treatments which are used here in the UK and around

We are looking for some volunteers to support our flagship fundraising event, The Banham 
Marsden March. Over 6,000 participants will be taking part in a walk starting at Dovehouse 
Green, near The Royal Marsden in Chelsea, and finishing at The Royal Marsden in Sutton.
