BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation founded in 1792, today we are working in around 30 countries over four continents. We are passionate about making Jesus known across the world and transforming the lives of those we serve.

We’re looking for BMS Regional Speakers (five positions) to nurture and strengthen relationships with churches and gain new regular supporters so we can see more communities transformed in Jesus’ name. You should be an enthusiastic advocate for mission, an excellent public speaker and confident in making a financial ask for BMS. You need to be outcome-driven and work towards agreed targets in the number of successful speaking engagements and new regular givers. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a strong commitment to outstanding supporter care, have excellent organisational skills, and be proactive and computer literate. You will have a global vision, a heart for mission and be passionate about the role of the UK church in a growing world church. This is a rewarding and very active role. 

You will conduct 15 speaking engagements to allocated churches in your region. 12 out of the 15 engagements need to take place during the main service, most likely on a Sunday morning. Other engagements can happen on a Saturday or mid-week event. If required and individually agreed, instead of two of the 15 speaking engagements at a church, the role holder might represent BMS at a ministers’ conference or a Christian event. Preparation, training, travel and speaking time are compensated and mileage is reimbursed. 

The time required for this role adds up to about 12 hours per month / 140 hours per year. This is made up of 15 speaking engagements, including the time for travel, arriving early and staying for tea and biscuits (5h per speaking engagement), preparation time (0.5h per engagement), keeping up to date with BMS’ development with our regular publications (about 15h per year), organising speaking engagements, including all communications with the church from the offer of a visit to follow up communications after a visit, recording all communications and raising any changes to role holders (2h per engagement), attending training (online and in person), team and coaching meetings (about 15h per year). 

Please note that BMS deems this role to be inside IR35 and, due to the nature of the role, will contract successful candidates via an Umbrella Agency for pay and tax purposes. You would log your hours on an hours sheet which you would submit quarterly.

The successful applicant will be a committed Christian. The nature of this role means that this is a specific occupational requirement.

The Peer Mentoring programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of young people (aged 10-24) with Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) across North-West England (Liverpool, Manchester) and South Yorkshire (Sheffield).

Responsibilities

Donor financial budgeting, reporting and monitoring

· Gather, manipulate and present data on Young Lives budgets and forecasting including those for ongoing projects, new funding proposals, re-budgeting exercises and partner organisation budgets, working closely with the Young Lives Programme Manager, Programme Officer/s and Collaborating Partners.

· Liaise with the Programme Manager to review the financial position on Young Lives projects and advise on solutions to problems relating to expenditure on projects whilst maintaining the auditable standards on the project. Check research budget set-ups for accuracy on Oracle, deal with issues arising, analyse grant spend on a monthly basis, highlight variances and take follow-up action, and facilitate updated X5 to re-cost salaries on awards and identify any over or under spends on salary budgets.

· Coordinate the quarterly financial reporting processes used by Young Lives partners. Check reports against budgets. Coordinate the preparation of Young Lives financial reports and invoices to FCDO and other Young Lives funders in line with contractual requirements. Prepare budget and quarterly forecasts for the Department.

· Process partner payments required under partner collaborative agreements and consultancy agreements, as agreed by the Young Lives Programme Manager.

· Monitor Young Lives project expenditure against approved budgets and donors’ terms and conditions. Gather, manipulate and present data to produce regular financial reports showing income, expenditure and forecasting against budgets.

· Assist with audits of Young Lives, as required.

· Represent and present on finances externally to funders, as required, and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Young Lives’ funding bodies’ terms and conditions

General Financial Management

· Ensure full recovery of expenses on the e-expenses system (SAP Concur), reviewing on-line ready for departmental approval, ensuring that expenditure remains within set budgets and complies with the grantor’s terms and conditions and University financial guidelines, giving guidance to claimants where necessary.

· Arrange for and monitor travel advances, and pre-paid MasterCards, issued to YL staff and clear the advances on their return. Check and process project credit card statements and receipts and deal with any queries that arise;

· Raise pre-requisition orders ensuring that procurement policies are followed;

· Undertake transactional processing as necessary in the Oracle Financial system, including invoices for payment, accruals and prepayment and dealing with anomalies. Check figures for errors and omissions. Ensure all Young Lives financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the University and external financial regulations.

· Monitor the Young Lives general ledger account (non-project funded) and ensure effective reconciliation and reporting of all transactions.

· Maintain good working relationships with Young Lives staff, partners and suppliers and with Departmental finance and administrative staff and the University's central finance office and be proactive in resolving issues.

· Proactively undertake continuous improvement of finance processes and systems and of reporting provision to support changing requirements and improve management information. Communicate and support the implementation of these improvements effectively.

· Develop and refine financial systems and procedures for Young Lives to ensure strong financial management and control. Respond to enquiries, and provide advice on financial procedures and policies.

Selection criteria

Essential

• Have achieved or be working towards an accounting qualification
• Educated to degree level or equivalent and at least two years’ experience in a similar role.
• Good accounting skills; experience of preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts
• Knowledge of the purpose, use and application of financial controls
• Excellent numeracy skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, resulting in the ability to produce accurate, detailed work

Senior Direct Marketing Officer

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Direct Marketing Officer to manage and deliver our Cash and Raffle programme. Within this role, you will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of cash and raffle donors and for managing the two Direct Marketing Officers on the projects to deliver this area of our programme.

Looking for a new opportunity at British Heart Foundation (BHF)?

We have a rare opening to join our nutrition team as our new Senior Dietitian, on a fixed term contract. 

In this non-clinical role you’ll use your skills and knowledge in the development of our award-winning resources. This includes the well-known heart matters magazine and printed resources, which are used by patients and health professionals.

You'll act as our expert resource of food, nutrition and dietetic knowledge, you'll help to maintain the reputation of BHF by ensuring the accuracy of all food and nutrition information within BHF information and resources. This will be achieved by taking a proactive approach to working with project teams across the organisation on the development and delivery of both mission and fundraising campaigns, projects and resources.

In addition to this, you’ll be a sought-after spokesperson for the BHF. You will receive excellent media training before joining  the clinical team press rota. You will then work with our media team to respond to press stories as well as help to publicise BHF campaigns.

Working arrangements 

Please note this is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dually located between your home and our London office. 
 
At BHF we believe in the power of working together. On a blended contract, you  can expect to spend some time in the office, at least one day each week, on average.  The use of office spaces is driven in part by your role and the work you will do with other teams.  This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

About you 
 
As an HCPC registered dietitian, you’ll have extensive NHS dietetic experience of working with adults with cardiovascular diseases. You will also understand the impact the work of the BHF has on cardiovascular care.

You'll be a proactive clinical support team member, with excellent organisation, time management and customer service skills. You'll also be enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and seek out feedback on your performance.

Interview process

• Salary: £32,020 per annum, pro rata, subject to deductions for tax and national insurance contributions as required by law.
• Hours: 4 days per week, equivalent to 30 hours per week. This may be flexible.
• Location: FLEX office, Vauxhall, London – Flexible hybrid working with a mixture of in person and home/office working.
• Pension: 4%, incremental pension contributions.
• Contract: 2 years, fixed term (with possibilities of extension subject to funding)

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the effective administration, maintenance and development of relevant FLEX’s resources and systems. This role involves leading on HR processes, including recruitment and onboarding, staff development and training, etc. as well as tasks related to governance and compliance, finance and grant administration. We are looking to recruit a Fundraising and Marketing Support Administrator to perform a range of vital functions under the supervision of the Fundraising and Marketing Support Officers.
 
Working within the Supporter Experience Department, you will be able to provide first class services to our supporters, staff and volunteers, providing excellent quality of administrative assistance. You'll be able to manage a vast range of queries from our customers, assistance in managing any complaints or concerns from our supporters, respond to queries from colleagues both within the team and the wider department.
 
In this role, you will need to be fluid in your approach and be comfortable to adapt to as each queries are different in their scenarios so you'll need to be comfortable in responding to our supporters both via phone and email. We also tend to receive onsite visitors from our supporters, giving donations or seeking more information so communication and strong customer service skills are essential.
 
Note: this is a office based position, located in Plymouth.

- Experience of using a contact management database would be beneficial, in addition to excellent ICT skills. 
- Attention to detail and a determination to produce and maintain a high standard of work. Data quality is key to the role.
- Ability to manage a varied and challenging workload and have experience of working to deadlines.
