Overview - This is a Senior Leadership team role.
The Deputy Chief Leader (DCL) role varies on each expedition. The DCL will work closely with
the expedition’s Chief Leader to take a prominent role in planning and training before & during
expedition, and in post expedition reporting. On larger expeditions, this is a Leader position in its own right whilst in others it may be an additional responsibility allocated to an existing Leader position i.e. you could be both a group (‘Fire’) Leader or Base Camp Manager as well as the DCL.
We are looking for applicants who are:
- Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
- Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events.
As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of ADC’s social impact strategy, including practical tools and systems that not only track and measure impact performance, but also integrate impact analysis into strategy and decision-making
- Lead the development of ADC’s fundraising strategy, with a focus on developing long-term strategic public and private sector partnerships with global and regional corporates, institutions, foundations and high net worth individuals
- Play a role in relation to revenue generation by helping to define market relevant value propositions for consulting services based on our Theory of Change, with a goal of achieving a business model that is financially sustainable and delivers on ADC’s strategic vision for catalysing social impact
- Lead the creation of new social impact programs, interventions and goals that will inspire and drive the organisation to deliver social impact at scale, and ensuring that the ADC approach and Theory of Change is upheld and enhanced
- Lead the development of thought leadership initiatives that position ADC as an influential driver of systemic social change in Africa and leader in social impact research
- Play a role in creating and maintaining social impact content, and making it accessible to our Marketing & Communications team for sharing with internal and external audiences to promote ADC’s work
- Coordinate and provide oversight and support to the Social Impact team, guiding recruitment and onward career development of team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential
- +15 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector
- A track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns and grants applications
- Experience of design and delivery of social impact programs
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop long term relationships with institutional sponsors and individual major donors
- Familiarity with impact assessment methodologies and latest developments in the impact measurement field
- Ability to create powerful narratives that present social impact in a simple manner
- Ability to drive strategy in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team environment
- Demonstrated ability to create global and regional networks across the industry
- Ability to actively take initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment
- Ability to actively seek and give input in a collaborative team environment
- A committed team player with good communication skills
- Available to volunteer at least 10-15 hours a week
Desirable
- Experience working in an early stage star-tup and gone through a scaling phase

Are you a Clinical Supervisor interested in supporting counsellors and therapists?
Burning Nights CRPS Support has a highly skilled counselling and therapy team who provide counselling and psychotherapy to adults and children who have been affected by a debilitating pain condition, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This team is expanding rapidly and we are now looking for a volunteer Clinical Supervisor to join this team ensuring we can continue the provision of our vital emotional support services to this community. We would ideally like to take on a Clinical Supervisor - one supporting the therapists who deal with adults.
All our Counselling and therapy team help to develop our growing mental health support service for patients, families and carers affected by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). As a volunteer with the CRPS Counselling & Therapy Service, your skills and experience as a Clinical Supervisor will be providing support to therapists who offer therapy to vulnerable individuals, many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health support.
Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, you will provide Supervisor support for counsellors or psychotherapists who provide counselling support or specialist services, such as general talking (person centred) therapies, integrative therapists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for CRPS patients, their loved ones and carers. The service currently offers specialist support to anyone over the age of 5 who is affected by CRPS.
Key Tasks and Objectives

Facilitate Clinical Supervision one to one and group sessions on a monthly or fortnightly basis (online)

Administer this supervision from invitation through to record keeping

Maintain appropriate clinical records of all work and to report, along with any concerns on individuals or their practice to the Chair of Trustees

Commitment to ongoing supervision of supervision practice at Burning Nights CRPS Support as well as engaging in separate own personal supervision as/if appropriate

Work flexibly as part of a small team as necessary to provide maximum coverage for supervision, such as in the event of emergencies

Abide by all Burning Nights CRPS Support policies and procedures

Adhere to BACP, BABCP (or other appropriate therapies governing body) Ethical Framework
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:

Psychotherapy/Counselling qualification with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a similar field

Qualification in Clinical Supervision - ideally level 7 or above (could also suit experienced counsellors who require a placement during Clinical Supervision placement, or experienced counsellors wishing to gain experience in supervision)

Accreditation/registration (or working at the level of or towards this qualification) as a Supervisor with BACP/HCPC/BAPT or equivalent

Significant proven experience of supervising individual counsellors/psychotherapists from a range of training backgrounds

Appropriate and proven clinical experience of working with clients with a range of difficulties including complex medical health issues, loss and bereavement. Ideally experience of working with clients living with or affected by chronic pain or chronic conditions

Willingness to engage in any Burning Nights CRPS Support training

Understanding of issues regarding confidentiality and management of risk within a counselling service

Silver City Surfers (SCS) is a local charity which has been operating since 2005 providing people with the opportunity to learn basic computing skills, including use of email and the internet. Increasingly, we are helping our learners to make the most of smart phones and tablets.
We are currently looking to recruit new Trustees to join our Board so we can continue to support older people to ensure that they are not left behind by the advances in technology. Trustees meet 1x per month to make sure that the organisation is running well and that our plans are properly implemented. Outreach Support Liaison
Helping our Trustees and Outreach Workers with the production of our events and publicity materials. This may include liaising with partner organisations providing services and events for older people and printers producing our brochures, programmes and leaflets. It can also include preparing and distributing individual tea packs when we do a tea at home event aimed at the housebound.
Event Companion
Our research has shown that for many isolated older people having a companion can make it easier to take the first steps to join local events and organisations. Our companions help older people by accompanying them to a few events and helping them meet with other people so that their confidence is developed. This role requires a DBS certificate.
Transport
Our research has shown that getting to events is difficult in our rural area. Buses services, when available, often do not run to timetables that allow easy attendance at events. So, our Transport Volunteers provide a pickup and return service. Transport Volunteers need to have a suitable vehicle and also hold a DBS certificate.
Exhibition Support
Silver Salisbury Group often attends events to promote our work. We always need volunteers to help run the stand. This involves helping set up and take down of the stand, dealing with the public, selling jams and other items to raise funds. Venues are various and can be indoors or outdoors. Volunteers work as part of a team on the day.
Baking
Silver Salisbury Group hosts many tea parties as part of its programme and is always looking for volunteers able to provide cakes and savouries for such events. These are not sold but we particularly welcome contributions from bakers who are able to list ingredients so we can avoid any danger to those with food allergies or dietary requirements.
Brochure Distributors
We need to deliver our printed programmes, newsletters and leaflets. We would love to hear from individuals or groups who might be able to help with this occasional distribution task.
We promote local groups and activities where older people will get a warm welcome in Salisbury, Amesbury, Downton and Wilton and the surrounding areas
