Role Overview:

As a Service Delivery Manager, you will be instrumental in designing, creating, implementing, and managing programmes that make a real difference in the lives of our community members. You will work closely with our passionate and dedicated team to ensure the smooth operation of our initiatives and help us achieve our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective service delivery programmes.

• Coordinate with other team members and volunteers to ensure seamless execution of projects.

We are looking to expand our Board with up to four new members, initially on a co-opted basis but with a path to trusteeship within the next six months if you feel it is right for you.

What will you be doing?

East Lothian Foodbank provides emergency food and compassionate, practical support to people in crisis. Without our volunteers, selflessly donating their time, we simply would not be able to provide the support our community needs.

Our Board, comprising both Trustees and co-opted advisory board members, are essential members of our volunteer community, offering their time and expertise to ensure that the management team have all the support and advice they need to deliver our mission effectively, efficiently and in compliance with all regulatory expectations.

About the role

We are looking to expand our Board with up to four new members, initially on a co-opted basis but with a path to trusteeship within the next six months if you feel it is right for you.

We are looking for people who want to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst support the foodbank to continue to provide emergency food to people who find themselves in crisis. 

Co-opted Board membership does not have a fixed term but we would ask that candidates be prepared to offer at least six months, so that collectively we can assess whether a path to trusteeship is desirable. No prior experience of Board membership or third sector working is necessary, and full induction training will be provided to help ease you into the role.

What are we looking for?

Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:

• Willingness to actively participate in discussions concerning needs of the foodbank’s beneficiaries, staff, and the trustee board.
• Willingness to act in the best interest of the charity.
• Sound, independent judgement and ability to think creatively.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and willingness to learn and develop. 

As an inclusive organisation we welcome applications from anyone, but are particularly keen to bolster our collective knowledge and experience in areas we know the Board currently has gaps:

• Data protection, information security and cyber risk
• Talent acquisition, management and retention
• Direct, personal lived experience of financial difficulty/poverty

No prior experience of Board membership or third sector working is necessary, and full induction training will be provided to help ease you into the role.

What difference will you make?

By supporting the governance of East Lothian Foodbank as a member of its Advisorary Board you are part of a team providing a vital holistic support function in your local community, ensuring a dignified experience to anyone visiting or anyone who comes into contact with the food bank.

The escalating crisis in Gaza has left countless children in urgent need of medical attention, rehabilitation, and long-term support. Children Not Numbers is a grassroots NGO committed to the health, safety, education, and wellbeing of Gaza’s children.

Established in February 2024, Children Not Numbers has grown rapidly into an international team of more than 115, most of whom are volunteer paediatric medics representing more than 30 subspecialties. Working closely with staff on the ground in Gaza, their network reviews patient information, shares clinical insights, and helps coordinate medical evacuations and long-term care.

The work of Children Not Numbers includes:

• Emergency medical aid to sick and injured children in Gaza

• Medical evacuation to host countries equipped for urgent and complex cases – more than 230 children evacuated to date

• Rehabilitation and trauma support for children with lifelong injuries and extreme psychological trauma

• Maternal Support Programme, which has supported over 500 women across 1,100+ appointments

• Education and Empowerment Programme via their school in Gaza, currently supporting 300 children with academic and psychological support

• International advocacy, including engagement with the UN Human Rights Office, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, the European Commission, and the UK government

About the Role

Children Not Numbers is seeking a volunteer to contribute 8+ hours per week (worked flexibly), supporting the people who make this work possible. 

This role is ideal for someone with professional HR experience who is keen to apply their expertise in a fast-moving organisation responding to a humanitarian emergency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working closely with the HR Manager, you will providing general HR support across the volunteer lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to engagement and offboarding

• Helping maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records, ensuring everyone is supported throughout their time with Children Not Numbers

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome interest from individuals motivated by Children Not Numbers's work and values.

Essential:

• 2+ years of recent employment in an HR role, which must be in the United Kingdom

• Knowledge of UK HR practices that suit a volunteer or charity-based context

• CIPD qualification or currently studying (or similar HR/employment law credentials)

• A solid understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles, including GDPR

Desirable:

• Experience supporting or managing volunteers

• Familiarity with remote or international teams

• Understanding of the charity sector and volunteer-led structures

• Awareness of boundaries and confidentiality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including prison staff, other agencies, SSAFA colleagues and clients.
• Positive, committed and non-judgemental. Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude.
• Good IT skills.

Support Connect and Inspire Local Volunteers for ROLDA UK!

Are you interested in animal welfare and want to make a positive difference in your community? ROLDA UK are now seeking Volunteer Community Outreach Officer to help reach out to local volunteers, facilitate small activities in the community, and raise awareness of our charity's mission to rescue and rehabilitate stray and abandoned animals.

Your Role

• Help ROLDA UK build a local presence within your community by networking and growing local volunteers who are interested in animal welfare and ask them to join you.

• Create new opportunities within your local community and grow a network of volunteers who can get involved in local fundraising events like charity walks, bake sales, and helping to run local stalls etc.

• Inspire and encourage local volunteers to join your community group, collaborate, share ideas, and plan effective activities.

• Help raise awareness about ROLDA UK within your community by recruiting for volunteers to join your hub and help build local networks.

• Support your local community hub by organising regular online and in-person gatherings. Attend community events to discuss ROLDA UK’s work and encourage others to support the cause.

Connection Support has a range of services providing support to people at risk of homelessness or on the edge of needing social care. We work with people made vulnerable through debt, mental health issues, substance misuse, learning disability, and physical disabilities.

Volunteers play a key role in the provision of vital services to our clients.

Are you a reliable handyperson who can undertake, upkeep, and repair a range of tasks for our housing support clients?

• Do you have 1-2 hours a week to make basic home improvements to client’s accommodation?
• Are you a dab hand at DIY and want to put your handyperson skills to good use?
• Do you have an interest in motivating people to make positive changes in their lives through acquiring new skills?

Your role will include carrying out basic household repairs and alterations such as:

A Peer Mentor is a volunteer who has experienced similar challenges and experiences as the person they are supporting. Being a peer mentor is seen as a positive and secure way to progress towards education, work, or employment.

Volunteers who take on peer support roles can feel empowered, have a greater confidence and a more positive sense of identity.

Could you provide an authentic voice that our clients can relate to?

· Do you have 1-2 hours a week to support a client

· Can you inspire others, give them hope through self-disclosure and by being an example of recovery?

· Build relationships based on trust, acceptance, understanding and an empathy from a shared lived experience?

· Can we rely on you to tap into your own experiences to help us identify barriers and gaps in our services and how we can be improving and identify good practice?

· Inspiring service users by using your own life experiences and by being a positive role model

· Helping to improve wellbeing, confidence, and independence by exploring activities that promote this

· Assist service users to engage with formalised support

· Attend appropriate training and development opportunities as required

The Board of Elmore Community Services is looking for new Trustees to lead the organisation at an important stage in its development.

Elmore was founded in 1989 and has successfully supported hundreds of with people with multiple and complex needs to live active and fulfilling lives. The charity specialises in working with individuals who, for whatever reason, find other mental health services hard to access and can be left unsupported at critical times.

Elmore’s clients may have mental health needs and people experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, individuals who are coping with the long-term impact of substance misuse, alcohol dependency, domestic abuse and neglect.

We are committed to persevering, trying out different approaches to engage the person and build up their trust in support services  possibly for the first time.

This is vital work, and Trustees find contributing to the Board and the overall strategy and impact of Elmore highly worthwhile.

We also need Board Members with knowledge and experience of: 

• Commissioning and Partnership Building with the NHS and Local Government

• Fundraising – especially from Trusts and Foundations 

• Improving and assessing Programme impact and Quality

We are particularly looking for Trustees with lived experience of services like Elmore’s. 

Younger people and people from ethnic minority communities are currently underrepresented on the Board and we would especially welcome applications from these groups living in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire where Elmore currently has programmes.

We’re looking for trustees

We’re looking to recruit dynamic, committed and motivated people with professional skills and experience who are as passionate as we are about empowering individuals to work through and beyond their experience of sexual abuse.

Specific qualifications are not necessarily required and we welcome applicants with lived experience. A genuine interest in learning about our charity and our services within the local community is essential.

These trustees will help to form a new board dedicated to supporting the charity and contributing to the effective and quality governance of Trust House. You will play an active role in developing the strategic direction of the charity and provide guidance to ensure the charity continues to support anyone affected by rape or sexual abuse in the Thames Valley area.
