As branch treasurer you will be key part of your local branch creating a range of

activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To

ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to

· Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions and authorised payments.

· Providing and present reports to the branch committee and to SSAFA’s central office.

· Maintaining accurate records using our on-line finance management system.

· Preparing year end accounts and financial statements including arranging an independent review.

About EngineeringUK

The Engineering and Technology Board, trading as EngineeringUK, is an independent, not-for-profit organisation. Our vision is for the UK to have the diverse workforce needed for engineering and technology to thrive and to drive economic prosperity, improve sustainability and to achieve net zero. We do this by enabling more young people from all backgrounds to be informed, inspired and progress into engineering and technology.
 

In the UK, we don’t have enough engineers and demand is going up. We need more young people to realise there could be a future for them in engineering and technology. To really thrive, we need a stronger, more diverse and representative workforce and for that we have to do things differently and make engineering and technology more appealing.

We work with over 450 businesses, Professional Engineering Institutions (PEIs) and providers of education and outreach, gaining and sharing insight through research and evaluation, leading a collective effort to improve the impact of activities for schools, and advocating to improve the related policy environment.

EngineeringUK was created alongside the Engineering Council in 2001 and we work with complementary missions alongside each other, sharing funding from the registration fees of professionally registered engineers and technicians. About the role

EngineeringUK has a vacancy for an independently-appointed member of its Board of Trustees. We are looking for a passionate and committed individual whose interests align with our goals.

EngineeringUK’s Board provides governance oversight and direction to the charity, alongside support and constructive challenge.

In order to be successful in growing and diversifying the talent pool in engineering and technology, we recognise the need for our Board and wider team to reflect a wide range of people and views. We encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates.
 

Responsibilities/Commitment

Board members are expected to attend four half-day meetings and one away day per year in London/online and to prepare for these meetings by reading papers circulated in advance.

Board members are encouraged to contribute more widely where possible, including on formal and informal sub-committees or in ad-hoc discussions relating to specific initiatives.

This is an unpaid role, but reasonable travel and subsistence costs will be reimbursed. The successful candidate will be appointed for an initial four-year term, which is extendable for a second four-year term.

Want to help those with challenges in their lives?

We are looking for Client Support Volunteers to assist in the Garden alongside our horticulturists in the supervision of our adult clients and teenagers with a variety of disabilities.

Our volunteers work in the garden with clients, helping them with various tasks such as planting, harvesting, pruning and mowing to name a few, under the guidance of our team of horticulturists. 

As well as general gardening work you will be assisting our clients, both children and adults with the opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture.

Other tasks our volunteers help with include general garden maintenance, DIY tasks or craft/cookery activities.

No gardening experience is required, just the ability to get along with others and muck in! This can be a great stepping stone to further education or work opportunities.

At present, we are looking for Volunteers who can offer a regular weekly commitment.

The Cathedral Safeguarding Committee acts as ‘critical friend’ and provides constructive challenge to the Chapter of Worcester Cathedral regarding the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults. Its role is to support Chapter in meeting their safeguarding obligations for the Cathedral and its activities, including safer recruitment, and to provide assurance to Chapter that the Cathedral’s safeguarding arrangements are fit for purpose.

The duties and responsibilities of the Safeguarding Committee are laid down in the Safeguarding Committee Terms of Reference.

Responsibilities

• to provide independent perspectives on safeguarding policy and practice at Worcester Cathedral.
• to work with the chair and Cathedral staff to ensure that the Cathedral’s safeguarding functions are being carried out effectively.
• to offer support and challenge to executive members of the committee to ensure the centrality of a robust safeguarding culture in the Cathedral’s mission and its operations.
• to take a full part in Safeguarding Committee meetings and in agreeing and monitoring of strategic and operational plans to ensure effective performance and achievement of national standards.

Commitment 

Meetings: The Safeguarding Committee meets formally 4 times per year (usually during the daytime, although times may vary). The duration of meetings is a maximum of two hours.

Papers are received in advance and all members of the Safeguarding Committee are expected to have read the papers and be prepared to contribute as needed to discussion.

Expenses can be claimed for attendance at meetings or carrying out functions on behalf of the Committee.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential

1. Recent, direct and extensive professional safeguarding experience and expertise at a senior level in a relevant statutory, voluntary or judicial agency (for example Local Authority Children and Adult Service, Police, National Children’s Charity).
2. A willingness to promote and represent as needed the work of the Safeguarding Committee in the Cathedral and outside.

Desirable

1. Experience of child or adult safeguarding in a church / faith context.
2. Experience of case reviews, risk management and engagement and leadership of strategic partnerships.

Skills, competencies and abilities

Essential

1. Experience of analysing complex situations and advising appropriately.
2. Experience of working constructively with a wide range of parties, including staff in the statutory and voluntary sectors.
3. Experience of dealing sensitively and appropriately with confidential information.

We’re recruiting two new board members to join our passionate team to help provide leadership and strategic direction to the charity. 

We're seeking two new trustees who can bring with them experience of finance, one of whom can step into the role of Treasurer from 2027. We’re looking for people who will work well with our current Board and who appreciate the true role of governance, both as checks and balances to the organisation and as an enabling function. 

Both roles will involve becoming an integral part of the Finance and Risk Committee, taking a significant role in financial and risk management and supporting the financial governance of the charity.

Hekima is a small organization in Tanzania that promotes children rights, and youth through nurturing that enables children, families and communities in ending Violence Against Children (VAC). Hekima achieves this through community accountable where children and young youth demand their rights; strengthening child protection and participation systems and structures.

Volunteer & Partnerships Development Coordinator

The Volunteer & Partnerships Development Coordinator strengthens the organization’s volunteer program and builds academic partnerships. The role identifies existing volunteer opportunities, develops and maintains the organization’s volunteer page, and coordinates with departments to centralize volunteer needs. It also researches and engages universities to establish collaboration, internships, service-learning, and exchange programs. The coordinator manages outreach, maintains volunteer and partner databases, and provides regular reports to improve engagement and program effectiveness.
