We have a proud history, a clear purpose and an ambitious future.

We are looking to recruit a Chair of Trustees and Three Trustee. These are all voluntary roles based in London.

Founded in 1869, Harrison Housing supports older people through almshouse and social housing. Today, we provide 75 sheltered homes and 19 general-needs homes, and manage a further 139 properties across London for other almshouse providers. Our purpose is safe, well-maintained homes for older people in housing and financial need and our vision is supporting residents to live independently. We are building on our strong foundations to support more people, strengthen almshouse partnerships and improve our homes and services.

Chair of Trustees

We are seeking an inspiring, collaborative and strategic leader to chair our Board and help shape Harrison Housing's next chapter. You will lead an effective Board, provide strategic direction and constructive challenge, work closely with the Chief Executive, and ensure strong governance, financial oversight and risk management. You will keep residents and our charitable purpose at the heart of decision-making, lead Board development and succession planning, and represent Harrison Housing with key stakeholders. Previous Chair experience is desirable but not essential. You will have senior leadership, governance, committee or Board experience, sound judgement and an understanding of the challenges facing people in social housing.

Commitment: On average 4–6 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings and an annual Strategy Away Day.

The current Chair's term ends in February 2027. The successful candidate will join ahead of this, including the December 2026 Board meeting as part of the handover.

Three Trustees

We are seeking three new Trustee to bring skills, experience and fresh perspectives to our Board.

Previous Trustee experience is not required. We are looking for sound judgement, strategic insight, constructive challenge and commitment to our purpose.

We are looking for candidates who understand the challenges of a small organisation and will particularly welcome expertise in:

• Financial strategy and sustainability
• Strategic growth and organisational development
• Property and asset strategy
• Fundraising and income generation
• Resident engagement and the resident voice
• Social housing or the almshouse sector
• Governance, regulation or public bodies

Collectively, Trustees oversee strategy, performance, finances, risk and governance, ensuring residents and our charitable purpose remain central to decisions.

Commitment: Trustees are expected to attend 4 Board Meetings per annum plus a Strategy Day. They are also expected to take part in a Committee in accordance with their skills, interests & experience (an additional 4 Meetings per annum).

Role Summary

You run Pinnacle's finance function day to day: accurate books, timely reporting, tight controls and no surprises. The CFO sets financial strategy; you own the numbers underneath it.

Key tasks

1.  Bookkeeping & transactions

○ Record income and expenditure accurately and promptly.

○ Reconcile bank accounts, card transactions and payment platforms.

○ Process supplier invoices and volunteer expense claims in line with policy.

2.  Reporting

○ Produce monthly management accounts with commentary, not just figures.

○ Report budget against actual by department and flag variances early.

○ Track restricted fund spend against funder conditions.

3.  Controls & compliance

○ Enforce authorisation limits, expenses policy and segregation of duties.

○ Prepare for year end and support Companies House filings and the CIC annual report.

○ Keep records in a state that would survive scrutiny.

4.  Budgeting support

○ Help each lead build a budget they can realistically hold.

○ Provide event and programme costings, including cost per participant.

○ Challenge spending that is unbudgeted or unjustified.

What we're looking for

● Qualified, part-qualified or experienced in bookkeeping and management accounts.

● Accurate and methodical — small errors bother you.

● Confident with accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks.

● Familiar with restricted fund accounting in a charity or CIC context (desirable).

● Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information.

Key tasks

1.  Design output

○ Design social assets, event collateral, print, signage and presentation material.

○ Deliver to brief, on brand and on deadline.

○ Maintain a consistent visual standard across every output.

2.  Creative development

○ Contribute creative concepts, not just execution.

○ Develop visual treatments for campaigns with the Campaign and Brand Leads.

○ Push the quality of our design forwards rather than reusing last year's approach.

3.  Pipeline & assets

○ Own the design workflow from brief to delivery: capacity, scheduling and review.

○ Build reusable templates so routine assets do not need a designer.

○ Maintain the design asset library and source files so anyone can find and reuse them.

4.  Collaboration

○ Work to briefs from the Campaign Lead and the CMO.

○ Take feedback well and iterate quickly.

○ Support Video/Production with graphics, titles and thumbnails.

1.  Programme design

○ Design a coherent portfolio across personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.

○ Define the intended outcome of every programme before it is built.

○ Retire programmes that no longer earn their place in the calendar.

2.  Delivery & coordination

○ Schedule sessions, facilitators and spaces across the programme calendar.

○ Prepare materials and resources, and host or support delivery.

○ Adapt on the day when numbers, rooms or facilitators change.

3.  Quality & facilitation

○ Set the standard for facilitation, content and participant experience.

○ Recruit, brief and develop facilitators, coaches and speakers.

○ Observe delivery regularly and give feedback that improves it.

4.  Participant journey

○ Welcome newcomers and make sure nobody is left standing on their own.

○ Design pathways so a first-time attendee has an obvious next step.

○ Follow up with people who have dropped off, and own retention.

5.  Impact & evidence

○ Define success in measurable terms and collect outcome data consistently.

○ Maintain accurate attendance records and gather stories and case studies.

○ Produce the impact evidence Fundraising needs for applications and funder reporting.

Core Purpose: To provide professional, high-level outdoor leadership and safety management on the ground during UK day challenges (such as the UK 3 Peaks) and international expeditions. While you are not expected to be a primary marketer, you act as a vital brand ambassador on the hill—ensuring a safe, inspiring, and successful event for our charity fundraisers.

Key Responsibilities

• On-the-Ground Safety Management: Support with the safety, navigation, and physical well-being of participants during UK day challenges and overseas trips alongside our in country adventure providers.
• Dynamic Risk Assessment: Monitor weather, terrain, and group fitness in real-time, making decisive adjustments to the itinerary to mitigate risk.
• Participant Support & Motivation: Provide high-quality stewardship, coaching, and psychological encouragement to help charity fundraisers safely achieve their physical goals.
• Emergency Response: Administer first aid if needed and coordinate with local emergency services in the event of an incident.
• Brand Advocacy: Enthusiastically speak about the charity’s mission and future trip portfolio during the event, inspiring participants to stay connected with the cause.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• UK Mountain Training Qualifications: Minimum of Mountain Leader (Summer) award for UK hill walking challenges. Higher awards (e.g., Winter ML, Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor) are highly valued.
• Medical Certification: Valid, up-to-date First Aid certificate
• Experience: Proven track record of leading groups with experience managing varying fitness levels.

○ Identify businesses whose interests align with Pinnacle's work and audience.

○ Research decision-makers and the best route in.

○ Maintain a prospect pipeline with clear ownership so approaches never collide with other teams.

2.  Proposition & pitch

○ Build sponsorship packages with clearly defined deliverables and honest value.

○ Pitch to businesses and negotiate terms.

○ Agree everything in writing before delivery begins.

3.  Delivery & stewardship

○ Deliver what was promised: visibility, access, engagement and reporting.

○ Provide sponsors with evidence of impact and reach.

○ Renew partnerships before they lapse rather than after.

4.  Coordination

○ Coordinate with the Partnerships Lead so one organisation has one relationship with us.

○ Work with Events on sponsor presence and experience on the night.

○ Report income and pipeline to the CFO.

Core Purpose: To accelerate the growth of our partnered events proposition within the charities Adventures for Animals team by identifying, researching, and initiating contact with potential partner groups, gyms, influencers, and communities. This role manages the pipeline of finding alignment, making first contact, and getting partners excited about co-creating a fundraising event to make a difference to the lives of animals in need.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnership Mapping & Research: Scour social media, Google, local directories, and fitness networks to identify potential partners (e.g., vegan groups, eco-conscious gyms, walking clubs, outdoor influencers).
• Pipeline Management: Maintain an organized Partnerships Tracker spreadsheet (listing organization names, key contact info, social handles, and alignment reasons).
• Initial Cold Outreach: Send out template-based pitch emails and Social Media/LinkedIn direct messages to explain the dual-branded initiative and gauge their interest.
• Warm Handover: Once a group or influencer expresses concrete interest and wants to discuss details, passing this to the team to finalise the partnership (option to remain involved with this process if the applicant would like to be part of the full life cycle of managing the partnership)

Required Experience & Skills

• Excellent written communication skills—able to write warm, persuasive pitch messages.
• Highly resourceful with strong internet research skills (proficient with Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google searching).
• Extremely organized and comfortable working with spreadsheets

○ Plan and order catering appropriate to each event, audience and budget.

○ Manage dietary, allergen and halal requirements properly and without fuss.

○ Manage setup, service and clear-down of food and drink.

2.  Welcome & front of house

○ Design and run the welcome experience: registration, signage and greeting.

○ Brief front-of-house volunteers on tone and expectations.

○ Look after speakers, sponsors and guests of honour.

3.  Suppliers & cost

○ Source and negotiate with caterers and hospitality suppliers.

○ Track hospitality spend against budget and cost per head.

○ Build relationships with reliable local suppliers.

4.  Standards

○ Ensure food hygiene and safety requirements are met.

○ Maintain a consistent standard so guests know what to expect from us.

○ Gather feedback on hospitality specifically, and act on it.

What we're looking for

● Hospitality, catering or front-of-house experience.

● Naturally hospitable — you notice when someone has been left waiting.

● Budget-conscious without being cheap.

● Based in Birmingham with regular evening and weekend availability.

● Food hygiene certificate (desirable).

Core Purpose: To support the Adventures for Animals Team within the charity, who organise fundraising challenges worldwide, by owning the data-entry process of uploading adventure challenges onto the website. This role requires an eye for detail to ensure all passenger-facing information is accurate.

Key Responsibilities

• Trip & Itinerary Uploading: Input finalized trip text, itineraries, price points, and dates onto the website backend using predefined templates.
• Content Migration & Formatting: Format trip pages, ensuring trip support documents are correctly placed and easy to read.
• Basic Website Housekeeping: Check for any broken links and update expired trips/information
• Asset Coordination: Gather high-quality imagery and video clips from the team to attach to specific trip listings.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience with administering websites 
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Methodical, organized, and comfortable working independently following video walkthroughs (full training will also be provided)

Role Summary

You own Pinnacle's volunteer function end to end — how people join us, how they're inducted, how they're deployed, and why they stay. Almost everything Pinnacle delivers is delivered by volunteers, so this is not an admin role. When a session runs smoothly with the right people in the room, that's you. When someone gives us six months and leaves feeling it mattered, that's you too.

Key tasks

1. Recruitment and onboarding
   • Own the pipeline: how people find us, apply, and get placed in a role that suits them.
   • Run a consistent induction — what Pinnacle is, what we expect, who they report to, where the boundaries are.
   • Match people to roles honestly. A misplaced volunteer leaves within a month.
2. Deployment and rotas
   • Maintain the volunteer roster across programmes and events — Soul Work, sports, socials, founder and networking events.
   • Work with Programme and Events leads on what they need and by when, and hold them to giving you notice.
   • Make sure every session has named cover, not hopeful cover.
3. Retention, development and recognition
   • Build genuine relationships across the volunteer base and know who's thriving, who's drifting and who's overloaded.
   • Run check-ins, spot people ready for more responsibility, and feed them towards Lead roles.
   • Own how we thank people — recognition, references, socials, progression.
4. Compliance and records
   • Maintain accurate volunteer records: roles, hours, agreements, emergency contacts, GDPR compliance.
   • Own the volunteer agreement, code of conduct and safeguarding process, including DBS where roles require it.
   • Handle first-line concerns; escalate safeguarding and conduct issues to the COO immediately.
5. Performance
   • Track active volunteers, hours contributed, retention at 3 and 6 months, and shift fill rates.
   • Report monthly with insight rather than headcount.

What we're looking for

• Genuinely good with people — able to read who needs encouragement, who needs clarity and who needs to be let go.
• Organised enough to run a rota that people can rely on.
• Comfortable holding a standard and having an awkward conversation without making it personal.
• Discreet, and sound judgement on when something needs escalating.
• Experience in volunteer coordination, HR, youth work, education or events staffing (desirable).

You own how Pinnacle sounds. Every word that goes out under our name — website, emails, WhatsApp, programme materials, funding applications — either comes from you or meets a standard you've set. You make sure we read like one organisation rather than fifteen people with fifteen styles, and that the way we describe our work holds up in front of a funder as well as in front of a 24-year-old deciding whether to come on Friday.

Key tasks

1. Voice and standards
   • Define Pinnacle's tone of voice and make it usable by other people — a short, practical guide, not a brand bible nobody opens.
   • Write or review the copy that carries weight: website pages, campaign emails, WhatsApp broadcasts, programme descriptions, sign-up flows.
   • Keep language consistent across every channel, including the ones you don't publish on yourself.
2. Owned channels
   • Own website, email and WhatsApp as channels we control outright.
   • Keep the mailing list clean, segmented and GDPR compliant.
   • Make sure nobody who contacts Pinnacle goes unanswered.
3. Vision-aligned and funder-ready language
   • Translate what we actually do into language funders, partners and institutions recognise — personal development, sports and wellbeing, community and belonging.
   • Maintain an approved set of core descriptions: boilerplate, programme summaries, impact statements — so bids and partnership decks aren't rewritten from scratch each time.
   • Work with the CFO on funding applications and with Partnerships on how we come across externally.
4. Performance
   • Track open rates, click-throughs, response times and list growth.
   • Report monthly with insight rather than screenshots.

What we're looking for

• A strong writer first, a marketer second.
• Able to write for two audiences at once: young adults who need to feel something, and funders who need to see rigour.
• Comfortable editing other people's work and holding a standard without being precious about it.
• Email marketing experience and a working understanding of GDPR.
• Grant, bid or case-for-support writing experience (desirable).

What will you be doing?

To support delivery of the E‑Save app, you’ll provide essential administrative support to our volunteer‑led, largely remote organisation. 

You’ll help keep the charity running smoothly by supporting the board and key personnel with communications, record‑keeping, document updates, online meeting organisation, task tracking and maintaining clear, well‑ordered systems.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking a UK‑based volunteer with at least three years’ administrative experience, including confident use of Microsoft tools. 

You’ll be organised, detail‑focused and able to manage your own workload. 

You’ll support meetings, maintain online files, update documents, manage data and contact lists, and provide general admin support to the Board, Operations Director and volunteer HR team as needed.

Your work will provide the operational backbone needed for the organisation to grow and deliver its ambitious programme. 

By ensuring effective administration and communication, you’ll help enable drive the  focus on environmental impact—supporting the delivery of the E‑Save app and helping bring practical climate action into everyday homes across the UK.

About The Pinnacle Centre

The Pinnacle Centre is a third space in Birmingham helping young adults grow holistically. We work across three domains: personal development, sports and wellbeing, and community and belonging.

Vision 2030 is where that work is heading. We're building a multi-purpose centre in Birmingham — sports facilities, co-working space, an auditorium and a café — designed as a home for young adults to train, work, learn and gather.

Role Summary

You build the non-financial relationships that give Pinnacle reach and credibility — mosques, universities, community organisations, sports clubs and local institutions. Corporate Partnership handles money; you build mutual value.

Key tasks

1.  Relationship building

○ Map and prioritise the organisations worth partnering with across the city and country.

○ Make first approaches and build genuine working relationships.

○ Define what Pinnacle offers a partner, not only what we want from them.

2.  Partnership delivery

○ Agree scope in writing through MOUs or referral arrangements.

○ Coordinate joint events, cross-promotion and shared initiatives.

○ Deliver our side properly, so partners want a second year.

3.  Reach & audience

○ Use partnerships to reach young adults we are not currently reaching.

○ Support Marketing with partner distribution channels.

○ Represent Pinnacle credibly at partner events.

4.  Coordination & records

○ Coordinate with the Corporate Partnership Lead so one organisation has one relationship with us.

○ Maintain the partnerships register: status, owner, value and renewal date.

○ Report on partnership activity to the CMO.

What we're looking for

● Relationship-building or community engagement experience.

● Confident making a first approach to someone you do not know.

● Strong follow-through — most partnerships die of neglect.

● Credible representing Pinnacle without senior cover in the room.

● Knowledge of Birmingham's community and institutional landscape (desirable).
