We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, fast learning intern to join our growing team at Human Appeal; helping us to research projects, review HR reports, and complete quality checks for our UK offices to identify the support needs of our staff.

Main tasks include:

• Provide generalist support for the entire recruitment cycle including but not limited to; interview bookings, JD/JP drafting, advertisements, longlisting, coordination with managers or candidates, reference checks, etc.
• Support HR L&D initiatives including orientations, trainings, workshops etc.
• Ensure proper HR file documentation and file management to audit standards.
• Conducting HR quality checks via routine spot checks and maintain HR trackers.
• Compiling HR exec summaries or reports.
• Undertaking research projects and supporting HR project implementation when requested.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills required:

• Ideally studying towards or completed a Bachelors degree, preferably in HR.
• A good understanding of humanitarian relief
• Effective written and oral communication skills in English
• Basic IT Skills (Excel, Outlook, Office 365, One drive, TEAMs)
• Ability to work well in a diverse virtual team

We Stand is recruiting a volunteer Board Secretary to start as soon as possible. This role can be a pure Board Secretary role or there is opportunity to join the Board as a trustee in conjunction, if this is preferred. 

About We Stand

We Stand is the only national charity that specialises in helping non-abusing parents and carers to protect and support their sexually abused children.

Our Mission is to provide support in a non - judgmental environment for non abusing parents and carers of sexually abused children. 

Our Services help families at a time of extreme trauma caused by child sexual abuse – providing emotional and practical support to young victims, siblings and non-abusing parents/carers so that they can move on positively with their lives together. 

About the role

We Stand is run by a Board made up of volunteer Trustees. We are seeking a committed and passionate individual, to ensure the board operates efficiently, complies with regulations and facilitating effective corporate governance by:

• Planning Board and sub-committee meetings. This includes organising and coordinating meetings, preparing agenda and distributing any meeting materials. 
• Maintaining records of board proceedings, decisions and actions
• Ensuring Board compliance
• Following up on actions
• Maintaining good relations with the the Board, CEO and staff members

Previous board secretary experience is not required and we are interested in someone with strong organisation, written and spoken communication skills.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Unfortunately, thousands of cats each year are abandoned or have strayed and rely on charities like Cats Protection for help. Becoming a trap, neuter and return (TNR) volunteer is one way you can make a real difference to cats in your local area. Our TNR volunteers help reduce the number of feral cats by raising awareness of our TNR programmes, setting humane traps to safely capture cats, taking them to local vets to be neutered, and hopefully returning them back to their territory. Local TNR programmes are crucial, as feral and abandoned cats present a huge challenge for communities across the UK.

You can expect us to 

• Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Trapping cats using humane methods
• Taking cats to local vets to be neutered 
• Returning cats to their territory or finding a suitable alternative

The role might also include:

• Regular feeding of feral colonies
• Promoting neutering by building relationships with farmers, land owners and local businesses
• Liaising with vets to promote and arrange neutering 

Time expectation 

This is a flexible role and the hours will vary depending on the number of cats identified for specific TNR campaigns. Our current TNR volunteers spend about 2 to 3 hours per week in this role which can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Decent, secure, and affordable homes are getting harder to come by, and there is widespread recognition and acceptance now that London needs more affordable homes, with The Government, The Mayor of London and the London boroughs rightly prioritising affordable housing.

What remains is a gulf between those who are attempting to deliver affordable housing and the communities that need these homes. This is the gap that London CLT successfully bridges, working with local people to create genuinely and permanently affordable homes and community spaces, putting Londoners back in charge of how our neighbourhoods positively evolve.

Proud to be at the vanguard of the Community Land Trust (CLT) movement. We were the first CLT in the capital to sell homes, starting with our flagship project at St Clements in Tower Hamlets with 23 homes, and then continuing with our first direct development at Citizens House in Lewisham with 11 homes. We also currently have projects across 6 London boroughs, with 34 homes built to date and a pipeline of 100+ new homes in development.

London CLT Treasurer (unremunerated)

Our expectations for our new Treasurer are also equally high. As our new Treasurer you will be joining London CLT at a particularly exciting time as we enter a period of significant growth, not only advising on the financial implications of London CLT’s strategic plan, but also working to ensure that our financial systems and processes keep pace, so that we can continue to manage our finances confidently and proactively.

A Qualified accountant with demonstrable commercial awareness and a passion for community action, affordable housing, and sustainability, together with an understanding of Community Led Housing you will be expected to be a good communicator, able to explain financial matters to non-experts, and help to shape the future of London CLT.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Selection events will take place continually during the attraction and selection period.

Shop Volunteering Opportunities

Harrogate

Our shops are at the heart of local communities raising vital funds for our fight against homelessness and bad housing - and they’re powered by our volunteers!

Suggested Involvement: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

Availability: The shop is open Monday - Saturday 09:00-17:00.

Location: Shop in Harrogate, HG1 1UB

Supervised by: Community Shop Manager/Assistant Manager

 We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in a shop before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow Shelter’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for Shelter. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of bad housing or homelessness.

Volunteer Opportunity – Afterschool Club Pick-ups & Play

At The Greenhouse, we truly value our amazing volunteers, whose support enables us to operate daily. Building positive relationships with children and staff, while demonstrating kindness, respect, and strong values, is an essential part of our work environment.

Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our Out of School and Holiday Club sessions. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to support our Afterschool Club by helping with school pick-ups and engaging children in play activities.

What We Need

• Volunteers who can spare 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday (this is desirable, however, even 1 hour to help get the children from school to The Greenhouse Project Out of School will be appreciated)

• You can choose to volunteer from one to five days per week, but we ask for confirmed availability and reliability

• A willingness to complete a DBS check (the cost will be covered by us)
