To ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

What you will be doing

• Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions and authorised payments.
• Providing and present reports to the branch committee and to SSAFA’s central office.
• Maintaining accurate records using our on-line finance management system.
• Preparing year end accounts and financial statements including arranging an independent review.

The skills you need

• Some experience of financial administration
• Great written and verbal communication skills

We are looking to recruit an Activities Volunteer for the West Lancashire Group. As our local group Activities Volunteer you’ll help us to set up activities in the area. Whether you’re serving refreshments, talking to people, registering attendees or collecting payments, you’ll be making sure everyone feel welcome.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll be supporting your local group to run activities that bring friendship and fun to your local MS Community.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.

Time Commitment

We estimate this role will need up to two hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Yeovil and Sherborne District Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels. 

Time commitment

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Bury St Edmunds group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.

They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.

In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.

To ensure we listen to the MS community and carry their voices through our EDI work we have our EDI reference group. This group of people living with MS helps to support various EDI projects, gives feedback on how we are doing and raises any EDI issues they have experienced.

We meet monthly between 5-6pm. Our meetings are informal and a safe space for people to be able to talk openly and honestly.

We would like to give more people the opportunity to join this group and become a key part of our EDI work.

As a member of this group you will;

• Support projects as part of our EDI strategy
• Give your insight and feedback on our EDI work
• Support our research EDI action plan
• Have the opportunity to join our EDI activity group. This staff group is responsible for ensuring we deliver the EDI strategy. We recognise the importance of having the voices of volunteers and people living with MS in this group.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Wandworth Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services.
