Baby & Me Volunteer - Merseyside and Cheshire
“We all want our pregnancy to be a positive experience, but it can be difficult and we can all struggle”
Do you have lived experience of facing a pregnancy challenge and would like the opportunity to support others during their pregnancy?
The volunteer role involves six Koala Northwest online or face to face training sessions, one session per week and the opportunity to gain a LEVEl 3qualification in Peer Support Theory and Practice. The training is comprehensive and has had positive feedback.
“The volunteer training so far has been great, it’s been lovely to virtually meet the other volunteers, everyone seems friendly and welcoming, and I’m excited about making a difference to families’ lives in a positive way. So far, I have learnt a lot about tobacco use in pregnancy which I had very limited knowledge on, it’s opened my eyes about lots of different barriers some families experience. I’ve also had a broader understanding of Aces and poverty in pregnancy”
All volunteer support offered as part of this role is over the phone, so this is a home-based volunteer role with volunteers based in Merseyside or Cheshire.
Our volunteers are there to offer an understanding, listening ear and emotional support to families on their pregnancy journey.
Volunteering can change a family's life and 1-2 hours per week can make such a huge difference.
Volunteers must live in Merseyside or Cheshire.

Help Close By is a charity which uses technology to fight poverty - connecting people with vital support in their area. Founded in Birmingham in 2020 to coordinate relief efforts during the pandemic, we've developed with focus on identifying people in need, supporting them and connecting them to services that will make a lasting change to their lives. Our next step is to roll out our app national-wide, and to encourage change with the reporting of real-time mapping and statistics.

Tasks will include keeping minutes, managing communication between the board and volunteer teams, and preparing all necessary documentation for the Charity Commission.

Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!
What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:
