Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy & Planning
- Develop, implement, and refine a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with IAC UK’s mission and objectives.

- Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with UK regulations, GDPR requirements, and the Code of Fundraising Practice.

The Connaught Trust is a charity, who support the charitable activities of units of the Army Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Air Training Corps, the Volunteer Cadet Corps, the Combined Cadet Force throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. They provide funds to promote the military efficiency of all ranks serving in units of the Army Reserve, the Royal Naval Reserve, the Royal Marines Reserve and the Royal Air Force Reserves.
The Connaught Trust are seeking two Trustees with a broad range of skills, in particular individuals with legal or marketing backgrounds/experience, to work closely as part of their Board to bring new insight and skills to set and approve the strategic direction of the charity.

City Harvest London rescues nutritious surplus food from farms, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, and delivers it, for free, to over 123,000 a week via organistions feeding those facing food poverty. City Harvest rescues food, people, and the planet by preventing food waste, providing life-changing support to communities across London through food, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from waste.
City Harvest vans equally deliver to food banks, homeless shelters, hostels, soup kitchens, mental health charities, projects supporting the elderly and socially isolated, social pantries, community kitchens, refugee hostels, schools and nurseries, family centres and domestic abuse refuges.
Now distributing free food for more than 1.2 million meals a month, the need continues to rise as the cost of living tightens its grip. City Harvest has sites in west, east and south London, and a fleet of vehicles that cover the whole of the UK rescuing food.
Our Warehouse Assistants are crucial to keeping the vans rolling and to making sure food is ready to go out to feed London. They are the packers, the stackers, the sorters, and the porters of our operation.
Every volunteering experience with City Harvest will vary, as roles assigned will depend on the time of day and the needs of the day. You could be unloading deliveries, checking and sorting food, creating mixed meal boxes for the homeless, or carrying out other warehouse tasks to help in the day-to-day running of City Harvest.
By volunteering with us for a day, individuals have the chance to make a direct positive impact on thousands of vulnerable people in London. Because of the time our volunteers donate to helping City Harvest, many Londoners facing obstacles such as homelessness, food poverty, and/or domestic abuse will have access to a nutritious meal. Not only this, but there is a significant environmental impact to our work too! The food that we rescue would otherwise go to landfill, where it would release harmful greenhouse gases as it decomposes. Therefore, your days’ work will also make a tremendous difference to both people and the planet!
A lot of our activities in our warehouse can be physically demanding, as we are sorting and packing food for delivery.

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Banbury Foodbank meets its core purpose by overseeing the management and administration of the charity and ensuring that the foodbank has a clear strategy in line with our vision and goals.
What will you be doing?
Banbury Foodbank are seeking to recruit Trustees with an interest in helping others, who are willing to uphold the food bank’s values, and who can bring life experience to the board of trustees.
Key tasks:
- To manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk and not over-commit the charity.
- To ensure the board regularly reviews its structures, roles, relationship to staff and implementing changes if and when necessary.
- To develop a long-term strategy for the food bank with clear objectives which can be monitored and adapted.
- To work alongside the Treasurer and the board to ensure the organisation’s financial dealings are systematically accounted for and on time, independently examined (on income over £25k) and made publicly available when necessary.
- To ensure the charity is accountable, actively complying with statutory accounting and reporting requirements and the law.
- To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place for future budget allocations as well as looking after contractual agreements with external partners that award money for core costs and additional projects.

- To ensure the food bank has appropriate procedures to: comply with current legislation and good practice; including employment, health and safety, equal opportunities, safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.

Overview of the role:
Kingfisher Food bank opened its doors in 2013 and was a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. In March 2023 the North Solihull Food Bank, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, was set up to carry on and enhance the work of the Kingfisher Food Bank. We are here to help people in crisis and offer support through the provision of emergency food parcels, by offering a listening ear, and by signposting to other agencies for more bespoke support. We have a dedicated team of over 30 volunteers.
The Secretary of Trustees is responsible for leading on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees, ensuring that its activities are conducted within the legal requirements, with board meetings being properly administered.
Key tasks
Secretary Responsibilities:
- to attend Trustee meetings, take accurate notes and keep an accurate record of attendance at meetings, recording all resolutions passed by the Trustees.
- to ensure that there is a record of all Trustee Board correspondence
- to ensure that details of Trustee meetings are circulated to the board together with minutes of the previous meeting.
- organise the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed and post the appropriate notices and commission, collect, duplicate and issue any necessary written reports, agendas, and minutes of previous meetings.
- to prepare, in partnership with other trustees, an annual report for the AGM on the work of the food bank.
- to ensure that the annual report (to accompany the annual accounts) is produced and sent to the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales) and that the details of the charity and new trustees are updated in a timely manner.
- to periodically check the Charity Commission’s website for guidance and information and updates that may affect the Trustees or the Foodbank
Other responsibilities, along with the Board of Trustees, include:

The Buddy Bag Foundation is an award winning charity seeking a Finance Trustee to sit on our well established Board of Trustees. BBF is dedicated to restoring a sense of safety and love for children in emergency accommodation having fled domestic abuse.
Who we are
The Buddy Bag Foundation provides children entering emergency care with essential items having fled domestic abuse and coercive control situations. We provide women’s refuges and other emergency accommodation locations with our age specific Buddy Bags which contain twelve essential items, including toiletries; underwear; a book; and of course a knitted toy.
The role
BBF is seeking a finance professional to sit on our Board of Trustees to work with our external accountants to oversee the financial governance of the Buddy Bag Foundation, ensure robust financial management and reporting, and to lead in providing strategic financial oversight in accordance with UK charity governance.
The role is designed to ensure that the BBF’s resources are effectively managed to support its mission of providing emergency items to children entering emergency care.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience in a financial role within business – previous experience as a Trustee or within a UK charity or nonprofit is desirable but not essential.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in financial management.
- Understanding of UK charity finance, including SORP, Gift Aid, and regulatory requirements from the Charity Commission.
- Experience in leading committees or teams is desirable, with demonstrable leadership and decision-making skills.

The Role
In addition to joining bi-monthly Board of Trustee meetings (either remotely or in the West Midlands), the key tasks of the Finance Trustee are set out below.
Financial Governance:
- Lead the Financial Sub-Committee in reviewing and monitoring the Buddy Bag Foundation’s financial performance.
- Work with the external accountant team to develop financial strategies that ensure the sustainability of the foundation’s activities.
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Oversee the preparation and approval of the annual budget, ensuring it aligns with the foundation’s strategic objectives, particularly in maintaining the continuity of providing emergency essentials to children.
- Monitor reporting in respect of cash flow, financial risks, and reserves in line with the foundation’s reserves policy, advising the Board on any necessary actions.
- Ensure financial planning accounts for the potential impacts of UK-specific economic conditions and the volatility of donation-based income.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board, funders, the Charity Commission, and HMRC as required.
- Oversee the preparation of the foundation’s annual accounts, ensuring they are prepared in accordance with the UK Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and are audited or independently examined as required.
- Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and legal obligations specific to UK charities, with a focus on transparency to maintain donor trust.
Strategic Contribution:
- Provide financial insight and advice to the Board on matters affecting the foundation’s financial health.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the foundation as a member of the Board.
Leadership:

We can help with travel and childcare costs but the position is voluntary.

Commitment: 2 days per week
If you are interested in joining the advice team, then after successfully completing the initial training, you can:
- Assist clients on reception.
- Speak to clients on our helpline.
- Support clients in person (we are opening lots more outreach locations across Barnet).
- Undertake administrative tasks supporting the advice team.
Purpose of the role
- To help provide an effective and efficient advice service to members of the public.
- To help influence government and other organisations by informing them of the effect of their actions on the lives of clients.
Qualities Required:
- Being open, approachable and non-judgmental.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person.
- A good level of literacy and numeracy skills.
- A good level of IT literacy.
- A commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service.
- Ability to regularly commit to volunteering (commitment level depending on the role).
- Ability to commit to and work with the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service.

The Hope Projects work to help destitute asylum-seekers and others barred from public funds in the West Midlands. This includes the provision of Housing, Crisis Grants and Legal Advice for Homeless Asylum Seekers.
What will you be doing?
Responsibilities:
- Support and provide advice on Hope Projects’ purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee Hope Projects’ financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
- Review and approve Hope Projects’ financial statements.
- Provide support and challenge to Hope Projects’ CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
- Keep abreast of changes in Hope Projects’ operating environment.
- Contribute to regular reviews of Hope Projects’ own governance.
- Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Hope Projects’ interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.
- Contribute to the broader promotion of Hope Projects’ objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
Time commitment
(Estimated at 1 – 2 hours per month)
- Attending 5 Board meetings annually, including a AGM and Team Away Day.
- Currently meetings are held in person in Birmingham. Remote attendance can be arranged from time to time.
What are we looking for?
Experience:
- We are looking for a new trustee with lived experience of the asylum system. Your experience may have been recent or many years ago. Skills and experience in immigration law, mental health or fundraising would help strengthen the board but are less important than a commitment to Hope’s mission, the capacity to contribute to general governance and a sense of excitement about the journey we have set out on.

- Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.

We are looking for an Operations and Policy Trustee to join the board of the Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough. We are a small registered charity, completely volunteer-run.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Ensure the Foodbank has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice including health and safety; safeguarding & GDPR compliance/data protection etc.
- Ensure the charity’s policies and procedures are reviewed annually.
- Review policies to match what we do, including day to day procedures followed in store.
- Introduce new policies and procedures when and where necessary in order to keep things running simply and efficiently
- Ensure risk assessments and fire/electrical checks are kept up to date.
- Attend monthly Trustee meetings in Market Harborough, usually held on a weekday evening for approximately 2 hours.

We are looking for experienced volunteers to support with sessions teaching about sewing and designing, including things such as pattern cuttings and sewing techniques.
Research shows that craft activities release the feel-good hormone dopamine, provide a distraction from worries, gives people a creative outlet and sense of accomplishment and helps people feel happier.
What you will be doing
- To support with sewing sessions, involving individuals in the planning process where possible
- Inspire and motivate individuals to develop their sewing skills, assisting them in the creation of their projects and supporting them to brainstorm and use their own initiative
- Encourage individuals to continue independent activities
- Sharing skills for designing such as pattern cutting and sewing techniques.
