SNAP (Special Needs Activities and Play) is an organisation that offers respite care to children and young people aged 5 to 19 years old, who have learning disabilities of varying severity. Some service users may also have physical or sensory disabilities and/or behaviour that is challenging. We aim to provide stimulating play opportunities and good quality childcare, tailored to meet the needs of children and young adults with special needs.
We run ongoing Saturday clubs during school term-time in both Hemel Hempstead and St Albans, as well as running Playschemes during the Easter, Christmas, Summer, and half term school holidays. Volunteer can choose which of our dates they would like to work, allowing for flexibility around other commitments.
All volunteers are provided with training opportunities to enable us to provide a high standard service. Some of our training opportunities include: Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, Epilepsy Awareness and Seizure Response, and Moving & Handling. Our roles will give you the chance to enjoy a variety of challenging and rewarding experiences.
Being part of the St Albans Mencap team enables you to meet new friends and gain life and work experience in a setting you may currently be unfamiliar with. It can also count towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award and shows commitment to supporting your local community, which ultimately looks great when applying for college, university places, or even a new job.
We also have opportunities for volunteer to progress to staff - Play Worker position.
Positions are subject to satisfactory DBS check and references.

Additional Information:
Hours: Commitment to attend monthly Board Meetings and ad-hoc extra-ordinary meetings where required. Two Board meetings will be face to face and the rest are held online. You may also be asked to participate in sub-groups which will require additional time. Expected commitment - 6-8 hours per month.
Notice Period: The term of the post is for 3 years, to a maximum of 6 years upon re-election.
Remuneration: Service on the Board is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to board duties.

Evaluation Support Scotland is recruiting for new trustees to join our board. We are particularly keen to receive applications from those with skills and experience in the areas of HR and / or Business Development, and welcome applicants from the third, public and private sectors.

As a Trustee you would join a highly skilled board who are committed to the ongoing development of the organisation. Our board meets around 6 times each year, mostly online; our AGM takes place in person at our Edinburgh office. In addition to board meetings, Trustees are asked to contribute to work that is particualrly aligned to their skills and experience, usually as part of a sub-committee, time limited working group or by providing 1:1 advice.

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome to customers.
- Provide great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience.
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public.
- Processing sales and serving on the till.
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives.
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
- Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

A unique volunteering opportunity to volunteer at Acorns Three Counties Hospice Garden Fete on Sunday 9th March
At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £10 million a year to run our care services.
Various roles available including - supporting running stall and games, serving refreshments and setting up and taking down gazebos.
The event held in the hospice gardens is to welcome the local community into Acorns.
There will be entertainment, stalls and activities 11am – 4pm. Food and refreshments are available. Volunteers are welcome to invite along their family & friends.
A special and exciting celebrity will be in attendance to open the event!
How much time will it take?
10am – 5pm either for the whole event or a few hours - with a variety of roles available
Parking will be available on site or nearby for volunteers
All volunteers will receive hot drinks free of charge.

Home-Start South Wiltshire offers support, friendship, and practical help to parents with at least one child under 5 through our network of trained volunteers, who visit families in their homes. We are urgently looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, oversee our financial affairs and help shape our future growth.
You will ideally (although not necessarily) be:
· A qualified accountant
You will have:
· Proven experience in a financial management role.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely, including to those who may have little or no experience of finances and budgeting.
· Commitment to the values and mission of Home-Start South Wiltshire.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.

Youth Helpers work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units by supporting our Youth Leaders to deliver a sessions across our range of programmes. In this role, you'll support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Helpers also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.
