Urban Youth is a brand new dynamic youth work organisation based in London, dedicated to creating exciting and meaningful opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We aim to build life skills and provide experiences that help young people discover themselves and the world around them. Driven by a passion for making a difference, we offer positive and engaging activities and interventions to help young people reach their full potential.

We need volunteers to join our Volunteering Team in the following roles;

1. Volunteer Coordinator

• Role: Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.
• Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies.
  • Conduct volunteer orientation and training sessions.
  • Match volunteers with appropriate roles based on their skills and interests.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers.
• Skills Needed: Strong organisational and communication skills, leadership, and experience in volunteer management.

2. Volunteer Recruitment Specialist

• Role: Focus on attracting and recruiting new volunteers.
• Responsibilities:
  • Create and distribute promotional materials to attract volunteers.
  • Attend community events and fairs to recruit volunteers.
  • Conduct interviews and screenings of potential volunteers.
• Skills Needed: Marketing and communication skills, networking abilities, and experience in recruitment.

3. Volunteer Training and Development Coordinator

• Role: Design and deliver training programmes for volunteers.
• Responsibilities:
  • Develop training materials and programmes to equip volunteers with necessary skills.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and make improvements.
• Skills Needed: Training and development experience, strong presentation skills, and the ability to assess training needs.

4. Volunteer Engagement Officer

• Role: Ensure volunteers feel valued and engaged.
• Responsibilities:
  • Organise recognition events and activities to appreciate volunteers.
  • Gather feedback from volunteers to improve their experience.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment for volunteers.
• Skills Needed: Interpersonal skills, creativity, and experience in volunteer engagement.

Volunteer Graphic Designer Needed!

We are a brand new youth work organisation in the inner London area and we need the help of a volunteer graphic designer who can help us design a logo and a brand guidelines to help us on our way.

We're Urban Youth and our aim is tocreate opportunities and new experiences for young people and provide positive and engaging youth work interventions in London for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We are also looking for some social media posts and images/photo and info graphics for our new website that is currently under development.

Secretary/Trustee

Who we are:

We are a long-standing (32 years) local charity, based in Ashford, providing friendly advice, companionship and volunteering opportunities for anyone in our part of Kent who is socially isolated, lonely, or would welcome support with their mental health and wellbeing. We arrange 3 free drop-in sessions per week at Ashford Parish Rooms, at which our service users participate in a wide range of activities including crafts, singing and art therapy. We also offer food and beverages from our pop-up healthy eating café and dedicated door-to-door transport where required.

Due to an upcoming retirement we are now seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. 

About the Role:

The Secretary will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of meetings of the Trustee Board, providing assistance and support to the Chair. They will also be involved in monitoring compliance to the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the charity and its activities, and ensuring that the Trustees’ decisions are acted upon and that all decisions made by the Trustees are in accordance with the governing document, reflect the objects of the charity, and continue to provide public benefit. They will liaise with the Chair and the charity team to ensure that events such as the AGM and Trustee Board meeting are scheduled and administered, with accurate minutes taken and circulated and agreed action points implemented.

It is expected that all Trustees will be able to attend our Trustee meetings in Ashford, which are held at least once a quarter, as well as the AGM and ideally a small number of other functions eg fundraising events.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Good time management and keeping to deadlines

Good level of IT skills (email, Microsoft Word)

Ability to take minutes of meetings

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Willingness to commit sufficient time to the Secretary role

Eligible to be a Trustee

Desirable:

Previous experience of working with/for a charity, or being a charity trustee or involved with the adult social care/health sector, would be an advantage but is by no means essential.

Volunteers are the heart of the Sponsorship Operations Team. As a team, we provide a high level of service to sponsors and enhance their experience throughout the sponsorship cycle - the role of Sponsorship Operations Volunteer is crucial for achieving these goals.

As a volunteer, you’ll support with the facilitation of child sponsorship and will gain valuable knowledge of the work of Plan International UK and projects around the world, as well as gain experience of working in an office environment and as part of a team.

We ask our volunteers to dedicate a minimum of 24 days of volunteering across 3-6 months. The role is office-based, and a laptop is provided. Our usual volunteering hours are Monday to Friday 10am-4pm (including an hour lunch). Whilst this role is unpaid, we pay out of pocket expenses of up to £7.00 for lunch and up to £22.60 for travel per day when you are volunteering with us in the office.

They will make certain that all necessary financial information provided to the Board, Charity Commission and other appropriate parties is timely, comprehensive and accurate, and shall advise the Board of the commercial implications of its strategy and policy objectives.

Settle is a charity that supports young adults as they leave the care system and move into their first home. Our preventative approach to homelessness helps care-experienced young people to make long-lasting changes and thrive.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for someone to join our Board of Trustees as our Trustee Safeguarding Lead. This will be someone that is excited and committed to ensuring we have a strong practice of safeguarding across the organisation and can support the Board, DSL and CEO to ensure we have a healthy and reflective safeguarding culture, bringing their own experience to help Settle improve over time.

Time Commitment

Our Board meets four times a year, either remotely or at Settle’s offices and has an away day once a year.

What are we looking for?

We need ambitious, compassionate people who are committed to Settle’s mission to drive the organisation forward. Trustees are the guardians of our vision, values and strategy.

Their role is to support and challenge the executive leadership team to deliver these and to act in the best interests of the charity.

The Safeguarding Lead will work closely with our DSL to be satisfied that risk is being managed and policies are being followed around this area of high risk. Safeguarding, in fact, is well managed at Settle but the Lead Trustee still needs to maintain oversight to keep abreast of any changes in young people’s needs or organisational requirements as we grow.

The Neuroblastoma UK Board of Trustees is seeking a Treasurer.  This role is vital in ensuring best practice and excellent record keeping across our financial and fundraising activities.  It involves working closely with the rest of the board of between 8 and 12 Trustees to ensure the board has clarity on our financial position and availability of funds for our research grants.  It also involves working closely with our small team of smart and passionate employees who work to drive vital income to the charity.

The Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, the Charity’s management and administration

The role of the Treasurer

• To oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to the Board
• To ensure the financial resources of the Charity meet its present and future needs
• To ensure appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place
• To advise on the financial implication of the Charity’s strategic plan
• To lead the Board on investment strategy and to monitor and ensure that it is consistent with the Charity’s policies and legal responsibilities
• To ensure that accounts are prepared in accordance with the relevant statutory bodies i.e the Charity Commission, Registrar of Companies
• To keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
• Liaise and manage our volunteer bookkeeper

What we are looking for

• An individual with integrity, passion and strategic vision
• A commitment to the Charity – minimum requirement 3 years term of office
• Good, independent judgement and a willingness to speak their mind
• Accountancy and financial skills are a requirement, as well as experience using digital resources
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of a Trusteeship

The Charity holds 4 board meetings a year, with each lasting approx. 2.5 hrs, plus preparation time. Average of 4- 6 hours per month in addition for ongoing communications and decision making. Sense Virtual Buddying volunteers make a real difference to supporting young people and adults who may be lonely or isolated.

Sense matches volunteers with disabled people to meet for an hour a week on Zoom, over phone, by email, text or letter writing. Our volunteers have spent thousands of hours with their buddies — learning new skills, having fun, and forming fantastic friendships. Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests, to make sure you have a great time. You and your buddy choose a time that suits you, and you can decide what activities you’d like to do together.

The Role of a Virtual Buddy

Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests to ensure you’ll have lots of fun together. Once matched with a buddy, you will get to know each other remotely via video calls and phone calls.

You’ll arrange weekly sessions and plan fun things to do together – what this looks like will be inspired by your mutual interests. You could be gaming, doing arts and crafts, playing music, seed planting – there are so many possibilities! We will provide you with weekly themed activities to help to support you in planning your interactions with your buddy.

We’ll also keep in touch with you to ensure you have all the support you need.

The programme is open to all volunteers who are 16 and over. You don't need to have previous experience volunteering or caring for disabled people. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.

Climate Guardians

We are an online platform that allows climate concerned citizens to collectively harness their voices for the planet.

-Individuals’ climate concerns are rising (climate anxiety). 81% of Germans aged 15-29 say climate change affects their everyday lives -Climate experts argue that businesses and governments need to step up their game. 70% of Germans agree with them -Yet, current narratives and solutions tell individuals consumption reduction is the answer. This further amplifies climate anxiety while missing experts' recommendation to step up business and policy change

An online platform that allows climate concerned citizens to collectively harness their voices for the planet. Citizens can build agency by easily sending personalised appeals (letters, emails, social media messages) to decision-makers (business leaders, politicians, journalists) in order to improve outcomes in their local neighborhoods and cities. Taking action is social, fun and impactful.

Corporate Social Resposibility (CSR) Expert

Role Description: We're on a mission to help businesses harness their influence while bringing together the expertise of NGOs and the mass participation of everyday people. We're looking for a Corporate Social Resposibility (CSR) rockstar to spar with us on how we can deliver value from a CSR perspective. This workstream is key to helping us to be financially sustainable and keep striving for our mission.

Weekly Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week

Duration of Volunteer Role: 3-4 weeks

We require a retired DOP or good Camera operator who would like to help us on this first-of-its-kind full length feature/documentary (to be shot in wide screen for theatrical release. If you know your Moviola, 35mm, Arri and Red, then you'll understand what we need.  We've already secured global distribution for this self funded fundraising film with sales revenues going to cancer research.  We would love to hear from you because your knowledge would be crucial.  Zeiss have provided us with superb (cinematic) lenses and we know that a trained retired DOP's or Camera Operator is worth his/her weight in gold. 

We can provide a screener to give an idea of what this unique film project is about, so please contact us if you are able to spare the time to bring your expertise and knowledge not only to our film, but to help our bright young research scientists who really need more funds for research.

Shannon Trust Volunteer Network - Volunteer Hub Administrator

Do you want to join an organisation committed to addressing low literacy and numeracy?  

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team. 

The role

Our volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust. We are looking for two volunteers to provide remote administrational support to our Volunteer Hub team, each role supporting one of the regional Volunteer Network Leads. 

Training

Shannon Trust provides a wide range of training for volunteers. You will be expected to attend some mandatory training for new volunteers via our online learning platform. You will also be provided with some 1 to 1 training specific to the role. The training will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the values and visions of the charity and practical support for your role. You will also be required to attend quarterly reviews with the relevant Volunteer Network Lead to support you on an ongoing basis.
