We are looking for a Program Coordinator for our Scouts Program based in Ioannina, for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
In this role, you’ll be coordinating the daily planning and delivery of activities for young refugees in two refugee camps: Katsikas and Agia Eleni.
The program consists of English language classes, educational workshops and excursions outside of the camp. The program engages around 50 children at each site, between the ages of 8 and 17, the majority of whom are from Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.
For this role:
Initially, you will work closely with the outgoing Program Coordinator to learn how the program functions. This may last a few weeks and may include preparing and delivering sessions in line with your skills, supporting teachers, and helping organise weekend excursions. This gives us a chance to see your capacities and conduct a thorough handover.
Role Description:
You will…
- Coordinate, delegate, and manage a team of 4-5 volunteers in the daily operations of the Scouts Program
- Develop current programming in coordination with the Programs Manager and project team member
- Assess impact and effectiveness of the program in line with its objectives
- Plan and deliver effective educational and outdoor activities, within a theme-based, modular curriculum
- Ensure a high quality of program implementation, with the ability to provide behaviour management and safeguarding training to new volunteers
- Directly supervise and support project team to ensure effective inductions and transfer of key skills/knowledge take place between short term team members
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders
- Represent Second Tree in relevant external meetings with international actors (UNHCR, IOM, ASB, Intersos, TDH) or local authorities (municipality, army, police, etc)
- Capture and compile relevant M&E on the program
- Conduct interviews with volunteer candidates

We are looking for volunteers who can commit for a minimum of 10 weeks, with adaptable profiles and who have the enthusiasm and energy we need to provide support in various areas across the organisation.
In this generalist role, you will find yourself responsible for a variety of tasks; helping to ensure that both our programme activities and day-to-day operations run smoothly. Second Tree works in a transparent way, in a challenging and changeable situation in the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.
The possible tasks included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants. An average day might see you talking to students in a camp to tell them about a new class, or supporting in the writing of a grant proposal. Tasks could loosely fall within 4 key areas:
Programmes:
- Supporting programme coordinators in maintaining the day to day running of their activities with the Youth Wellbeing or Adult Education Programmes
- Supporting our children’s teachers or workshop facilitators in the planning or delivery of classes or excursions outside of camps
- Communicating key messages about our programmes to our students in camps or urban areas
Admin, Finance & Logistics:
- Supporting the management in liaising with external partners
- Maintaining organisation wide financial processes
- Coordinating the arrival and housing of incoming volunteer
Fundraising:
- Supporting the planning and implementation of Second Tree’s fundraising initiatives, such as campaigns
- Organising and maintaining regular communications with Second Tree’s donors (newsletters, thank you letters)
- Supporting in the identification of relevant grants
- Supporting in grant writing activities
Digital communication:
- Contributing to the written/visual content of Second Tree’s social media output
- Developing social media strategies to expand our reach and impact
- Producing regular reports on performance
- Website maintenance
Skills desired:
While there are no experience or skill-specific applicant requirements for this position, candidates must:

We are looking to recruit people to one of the following four roles within our youth programme, for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks, and whilst these should guide applications, imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying. Currently, the youth programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers across two sites, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!
There are some specific applicant requirements, however the most important is to have a strong desire to work with refugees and a commitment to improve the situation for them here in Greece. Second Tree works in a transparent way in a challenging and changeable situation on the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.
We are looking to recruit people to one of the following four roles within our youth programme, and whilst these should guide applications, imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying.
The roles are:
- Children’s ESL teacher: responsible for the delivery of the programme’s English classes across two sites. Classes focus on low level English learning and must be fun and engaging. TEFL/equivalent experience is required.
- Scout/excursion leader: responsible for leading the weekend excursions for both camps, a highlight of the programme for participants! Excursions are based generally on the Scout model and require an organised, methodical planner who is confident leading groups of children.
- Arts and crafts specialist: responsible for using knowledge of art, music and practical skills to plan creative workshops within the existing curriculum. Assist the programme lead and scout leader when organising and partaking in excursions.
- Science/maths specialist: responsible for using knowledge of science and maths to plan creative and engaging workshops within the existing curriculum. Assist the programme lead and scout leader when organising and partaking in excursions.
Skills:

Role Summary
We are seeking a creative and motivated UX Designer to collaborate closely with our UX Design Lead and Digital team in building and enhancing the Roots app, website, as well as the instructor, student, and partner portals. This role is crucial in ensuring our platforms are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with the needs of our user base. The ideal candidate will also bring user research capabilities to the team, ensuring that our design decisions are informed by real-world insights and user feedback.
Key tasks

Support the UX Design Lead to create intuitive and user-centred designs for the Roots app and portals - Student and Instructor.

Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that align with user needs and project goals.

Conduct user research/workshops to gather insights and identify user needs, pain points, and behaviours.

Create user personas, journey maps, and other research artefacts to guide design decisions.

Test and validate design concepts through user testing and feedback sessions.

Work closely with the Digital team and our developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.

Ensure all design work meets brand guidelines and project objectives.
What we’re looking for

Proficiency in Figma

Previous experience with Android, Apple and web applications design

Knowledge using illustrator and photoshop is a plus

We are looking for Activity Leaders and Activity Assistants to help deliver activity session for various groups of young people and children visiting Cameron's Cottage.
Cameron's Cottage is a outdoor nature education centre for children and young people, based at RSPB Franchises Lodge on the edge of the New Forest. The Cottage has capacity to sleep up to 19, and welcomes both day visiting groups and those coming for a residential stay. RSPB staff lead the groups in a range of different activities, including nature walks, team building games, wildlife surveys known as 'bioblitz', conservation tasks, mindfulness walks and so much more! We are looking for volunteers who would be able to assist RSPB with delivering these activities, and there is the possibility for you to build up confidence and ability to lead these activities, if you are interested.
