Help us engage our charity's audience by creating compelling emails and newsletter content so that we can support more people affected by a complex, debilitating chronic condition as well as raise awareness of this rare disease. This is a great opportunity to assist a small but mighty charity.
Description
We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team. Our charity delivers awareness campaigns by email and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.
We regularly contact our supporters and members through general emails and infirmative newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.
We would like the volunteer to help with:
- Email content Creation: Develop an email marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
- Email content creation (membership): Create a regular quarterly newsletters for our membership scheme
- Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
- Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
- Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity
What are you looking for in a volunteer?
We are looking for 2 volunteers who have:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Good communicator
- Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
- Experience using email marketing software - specifically Mailchimp
- Marketing skills
- Experience of working on marketing strategies
- Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and our services users (we are not expecting you to know about the condition we support)
- Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
- Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these
- Open to feedback
- A passion for marketing and email marketing
- Ability to work flexibly on your own or as part of a team with enthusiasm and commitment
- Ability to create email campaigns with little supervision (after initial support)

With your help we will expand our readership to ensure more people are aware of this condition, which will help those affected by it when they see a health professional.

We are looking for 3 experienced creative professionals who will enjoy planning, updating and delivering the content for our website, as well as other digital and print materials. Key Tasks and Objectives
- Copywriting: Create well-written and compelling copy for use in leaflets, packs, one-page/fact sheets, fundraising/promotional materials, membership packs and on our website
- Case study writing and storytelling: Help communicate our impact via stories and case studies that we can use on our website, in marketing materials, or for our fundraising materials
- Web copywriting: Create and update engaging content for our website that adheres to our brand
· Email/E-Newsletter content: Write compelling email content for our various e-newsletters that is relevant and has clear call-to-actions. This will be in conjunction with our email marketing volunteers
· Communication materials review: Review our existing communications materials. Recommend edits that will provide us with consistency in writing style and tone, accurate spelling and grammar, and a clear and engaging voice for our organisation. Evaluate the way we communicate with volunteers, members of the public and helping us to develop better ways of doing this
· Social media snippets - create information and case study snippets for the various social media platforms
· Press Releases and any content that could be used in different channel
· Brochure/annual review writing: Create or update copy for a brochure or our annual review, highlighting our impact current and potential stakeholders

Key Responsibilities
While you will be responsible for championing and maintaining MAF UK’s Christian ethos and values while safeguarding its reputation, you will support in:
- Setting or approving policies, plans and budgets to achieve MAF’s charitable objectives and monitoring performance against them.
- Setting and maintaining a framework of delegation and internal controls.
- Agreeing decisions on matters which might create significant risk to the organisation, financial or otherwise.
- Actively contributing to the strategic direction of the charity and agreeing and evaluating performance.
- Fulfilling the statutory responsibilities of a trustee as set out by the Charity Commission.
- To ensure the solvency, financial resilience, effective administration, and good performance of the organisation
Commitment Requirement
Applicants are usually elected to the Board for an initial three-year term, with the possibility of renewal for two further threeyear terms and will be required to participate in:
- Three Board meetings each year.
- Annual Board of Trustees awayday each year for prayerful strategising.
- Membership and attendance of a subcommittee – up to three meetings a year.
- One overseas project visit.
- Ad-hoc advice may be sought between meetings
Essential Qualities
- Significant and extensive senior level experience within a either Finance, Fundraising, Legal, or Missiology
- Committed and mature Christian, able to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of our Statement of Faith.
- Can demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, reflected in their devotional life and involvement in a Christian community, including an individual commitment to prayer and a willingness to uphold MAF’s local and global ministry in prayer.
- Experience of making decisions in keeping with the teaching and ministry of Jesus.
- Capable of analysing information, thinking creatively and, when necessary, challenging constructively.
- Possess effective communication and presentation skills.
This position has an occupational requirement for the job holder to be a committed Christian who can affirm and adhere to our Statement of Faith.
Terms:
The role of Trustee is unpaid, but all reasonable travel, accommodation, subsistence and childcare expenses will be met.
Trustees are usually appointed for an initial term of three years, which may be renewed for a further two periods of up to three years each.
Applicants must be UK citizens or hold a valid permanent work permit for the UK and not be disqualified from being a trustee according to Charity Commission guidelines.
Selection:
The interview process will include a meeting with the Chair and another member of the Board. The appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and confirmation from the whole Board.

The charity runs a warehouse and shop that makes a positive social and environmental impact by re-using clean post-industrial waste that would be sent directly to landfill. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of materials offering inspiration for creative and educational projects, and used by a wide range of users. These include individuals and families, creative practitioners, community groups, schools and higher education.
As well as reclaimed materials from businesses and industries, our shop offers second-hand and quality arts and crafts items at affordable prices.
Our charity is entering an exciting new phase, which includes refitting the retail space to make it more user-friendly and provide much needed inventory sorting space.

Role Profile

Person Specification
In addition to the person specification for a trustee, the Chair should have the following qualities.
● Leadership skills
● Experience of committee work
● Tact and diplomacy
● Good communication and interpersonal skills
● Impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences.
It would also be desirable for the chair to have a background and experience in social care, education or youth sectors. A wider involvement with the voluntary sector and other networks is also helpful.

Terms of Appointment
Time Commitment
- Attend quarterly board meetings from 5pm – 7pm,.
- Attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) once per year.
- From time to time or as needed, attend one of our sub-committees so that you can gain a good insight into the Charity’s day to day activities and support the team. Sub-committees meet once a quarter, usually 2 weeks before the Trustee Board meeting.
- Get involved in other activities depending on your skills / interests / preferences.
- Attend meetings or visits with the CEO and our staff to ensure we all stay close to the services we are providing.
- Support with matters and or decisions where necessary between meetings.
- Meetings are currently held in person with the option online.
We understand and respect that people who are working full-time and/or have family/other responsibilities may not be able to travel to the meetings in person sometimes.
Chair/ Trustees are appointed for a three-year term at a time which can be extended twice, meaning a maximum of nine years.
Pre-appointment checks
It is important to note that pre-appointment declarations will be requested to ensure that applicants have not been disqualified by law from acting as a trustee.
We will also need to carry out an enhanced DBS check, prior to appointment along with reference checks and other due diligence.

What will you do?
• Explore different ways of fundraising to help the local Citizens Advice obtain money, either for specific things, or for ongoing running costs of the local Citizens Advice
• Help organise fundraising events to raise money from the local community and encourage volunteers and staff to get involved
• Create materials, such as newsletters or presentations, which can be used to raise the profile of the local Citizens Advice and for raising money
• Explore other ways of fundraising, including identifying new sources of funding from organisations
• Help to build relationships with local organisations or businesses
• Help staff put together some information to send to potential funders and to complete applications for funding bids

Derbyshire Dales Community Energy is looking for enthusiastic directors and volunteers to help manage our activities and increase our impact. If you’d like to work with an award-winning community energy organisation, want to tackle climate change, and have a few hours to spare each month, we would love to hear from you!
We are currently running several projects, with plenty more in the pipeline. We're recruiting multiple new board members and volunteers to help run these projects, broaden DDCE's skillset and increase what we can achieve.
So, you might be using your skills to:
- determine our strategic direction
- liaise with councils or businesses about new project sites
- help us gain funding or sponsorship
- create new solar designs
- engage with the local community
- write articles and update our website or social channels
- help with the vital 'behind the scenes' (administrative) running of the organisation.

We are also seeking one director who is willing to take on the duties of Treasurer.
We will support all new directors and volunteers with a warm welcome and an induction into the workings of DDCE. You’ll meet our 5 existing board members and our 1 paid staff member. If you’re keen to get involved but are a bit less experienced, our friendly board member, Elspeth, will be happy to mentor you.
For much of our work, it’s helpful if our directors and volunteers live in the local area. However, we are open to hybrid/remote positions for some relevant skillsets. The majority of Board meetings are held on Zoom, and we’re keen to work with great people, wherever they live in the UK! We also welcome first-time board members.
