In Tanzania, nearly 37% of girls are married before the age of 18, leading to several serious consequences. Early marriage often disrupts education, causing girls to drop out of school and limiting their future opportunities, thereby perpetuating poverty. Child brides face significant health risks, including complications from early pregnancies and childbirth, and are more vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Economic dependence on spouses limits their financial independence and decision-making power. They are at higher risk of domestic violence and abuse, with severe psychological impacts such as depression and anxiety. This cycle perpetuates intergenerational poverty and reinforces social inequality by limiting girls' and women's ability to participate fully in society, undermining gender equality and empowerment efforts.

Tai's innovative solution to Tanzania's challenges centres on using digital media and storytelling to educate, empower, and inspire social change. Through traditional and digital platforms, our content reaches over 12 million viewers and listeners.

Digital Communications & Social Media Volunteer

Role Description

We are seeking a passionate and creative Social Media Manager and Digital Communications Volunteer to join our dynamic team for 6 weeks. Your main work will be managing Tai Animation Studios and Animation Tanzania Social media platforms content including The Animation Tanzania Film Festival scheduled on 31st October 2024.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital marketing, and social media management within the creative media and animation industry.

Key Responsibilities are as follow:

-Content Creation: Develop engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok. -Write copies that resonate with the audience. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for content and campaigns. -Assist in promoting campaigns and initiatives related to The Animation Tanzania Film Festival.

-Content Calendar Management: Collaborate with Content Manager to create and manage a comprehensive content calendar for Tai Animation Studios and ATFF.( The Animation Tanzania Film Festival) -Schedule posts and ensure timely delivery of content across all platforms. -Monitor and adjust the content calendar based on performance metrics and audience engagement.

-Social Media Management: -Oversee day-to-day management of social media accounts. Engage with our online community by responding to comments, messages, and fostering discussions. -Analyze trends and leverage hashtags to increase visibility and engagement. -Analyze social media performance using analytics tools, and provide insights for improving engagement and reach and develop strategies to grow our follower base and enhance audience interaction.

Weekly Time Commitment

7-9 hours per week

About the Role

PatientsVoices is a group of volunteers who support, advise and influence our client by providing the patient perspective on its work. Roles and responsibilities

As a trustee, you will play a critical role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring good governance, and supporting the delivering of our mission. Your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with fellow trustees and staff to develop and implement strategies that align with the charity’s goals and ensure its sustainable growth.
• Advisory Role: Provide expert advice in your area of expertise, whether that be corporate partnerships, legal matters, charity growth, or community engagement.

Time commitment

• The Board meets at least four times a year.
• It is expected the trustees spent at least two hours a week on their duties.

Introduction to the Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy vertical Lead role:

The Marketing, Outreach, and Advocacy Lead is the driving force behind Barawak’s communication, its brand identity and public presence. This strategic role involves developing and implementing marketing and outreach initiatives to amplify Barawak's mission and to advocate for the Afro-Hebrew community. Description

Our small charity delivers awareness campaigns and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team.

You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.

Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and having regular contact through emails and newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Email content: Develop our communication & marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
• Email content (membership): Create a regular email newsletter for our membership scheme
• Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
• Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
• Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity

What are you looking for in a volunteer?

We are looking for 2 volunteers who have:

• Strong writing and editing skills
• Good communicator
• Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
• Experience using email marketing software - specifically Mailchimp
• Marketing skills
• Experience of working on marketing strategies
• Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and our services users (we are not expecting you to know about the condition we support)
• Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
• Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these
• Open to feedback
• A passion for marketing and email marketing
• Ability to work flexibly on your own or as part of a team with enthusiasm and commitment
• Ability to create email campaigns with little supervision (after initial support)
