This program is looking for international volunteers to assist staff in carrying out biological assessments (fish, benthic macro-invertebrates and habitats), including in-stream visual surveys with mask and snorkel. Volunteers are required during the main monitoring season of mid-January to mid-May, 2025. A 10 week minimum commitment is required.

This program is unique because of its blend of scientific research and applied conservation, working with indigenous and campesino communities. It is based in one of the world’s premier biodiversity “Hot Spots”.

This is a free volunteer program and participants receive free accommodation, field trips, lunches during field work days and in-country transportation.

Being a Trustee

IRMO’s Board of Trustees is made up of six to nine Trustees, who work together to ensure the charity is run properly. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to support IRMO’s strategic development and oversee its finances. Trustees meet every two months (usually online in the evening) and are asked to commit an additional eight to ten hours between meetings to follow up on actions and provide advice and input on strategic documents and areas of work relevant to their areas of expertise.

General Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with and assess the political, economic and social contexts that affect IRMO’s work
• Support the development of and approve IRMO’s key strategic documents
• Annually review and approve IRMO’s budget
• Review, update and approve major policies
• Approve salaries, benefits, terms and conditions for staff
• Ensure that IRMO’s financial structure is adequate for its current needs and long-term strategy
• Ensure that the organisation has the necessary resources in place to meet its long-term goals
• Ensure that the Board of Trustees is adequately informed of the condition of the organisation and its operations
• Ensure that published reports adequately reflect the nature of the services and the financial condition of the organisation
• Approve major actions of the organisation, such as capital expenditure over authorised limits and major changes in activities and services 
• Review staff results in relation to IRMO’s aims and objectives, as well as annual and long-term goals
• Appoint, supervise, support, and appraise IRMO’s Director
• Provide candid and constructive criticism, advice, comments and praise
• Ensure that the Director has established appropriate policies to define and identify conflicts of interest throughout the organisation and are administering and enforcing those policies
• Appoint independent examiners/auditors subject to approval by members
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation affecting the organisation
• Annually review the performance of the Board of Trustees and take steps to improve its performance

We are looking for a talented and committed individual to become Treasurer of the Board of Trustees at the Ecology Centre.

We are looking for an individual with attention to detail and passion that aligns with the purpose of our charity and who can help to support our strategic direction and commercial success with a skillset that complements those of our existing Trustees.

We are looking for a Treasurer with proven experience in a relevant discipline, who can provide support with the following areas of effective financial management and control:

· Governance and control: Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial rules and regulations

· Budgeting and Monitoring: Ensuring the charity practices effective budgeting, reporting and monitoring protocols, with appropriate analysis and communication of potential risks to the sustainability of the charity

· Strategy development: Working with the Board of Trustees and General Manager to shape the commercial strategy of the charity, fostering long-term sustainability and growth as appropriate

· People support: Providing expert advice as necessary to the General Manager and Finance Assistant to ensure smooth and diligent operational practices.

Previous experience in environmental and/or third sector roles is welcome but not necessary, and nor do we consider it a requirement that you have previous experience as part of a Board or Executive Committee.

Term: 3 Years
Time Commitment: There are a minimum of three scheduled meetings across the year, in person in Leeds or via Microsoft Teams, with extra time needed for preparation.  We have an annual Board Away Day in November. • Volunteers help to deliver our vital food services to between 140 and 180 marginalised adults per day, Monday -Friday.
• Responsibilities include setting up the dining room for lunch service, food preparation, serving food, and clean down after service.

• The Ace of Clubs has a unique and compassionate atmosphere, where volunteers have the ability to develop important interpersonal skills. Furthermore, supporting the Ace of Clubs can help people to expand their awareness of the health and social care sector, and the inner working of a reputable charity.
• For those who are interested in catering, this is a great opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in food service.
• One day per week, Monday to Friday. It does not have to be the same day each week.Hours being 9:30am to 15:00pm.
• As volunteers are so crusial to Ace we ask for a commitment of at least three months, whether this be a few days a week or one ever other. 
• Our guests come from all works of life, so volunteering with us enables you to hear and understand the backgrounds of diverse individuals. Teamwork is also important, as volunteers work closely together as a group.
• We offer Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 to all our commited volunteers.

A positive local profile can help raise funds, promote adopting a cat, promote neutering and make sure as many people as possible learn about great cat welfare.

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. Overview of the role

We are an exciting team that aim to design and develop fantastic programme for all members of our organisation. We have several ongoing pieces of work and upcoming projects that enable volunteers to get stuck right in and have real impact. You will have a part in designing programme, see it develop and then watch it reach local Scouting.

We will provide support when inducting you into the role, engage you in an exciting project and then help you on your next steps as a volunteer at the end of the project. This is a great opportunity for those who have never volunteered at Headquarters to give it a go. We would love to see plenty of new faces!

What would I be doing?

This role will be working as part of the Programme Design Team to facilitate work on one of our short-term projects. You will be joining one of our Project Cohorts. After applying, we will review applicants’ skills and experience, before selecting a group to work on a particular project with set goals. 

Our upcoming projects will be aiming to develop our top-quality programme. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in innovative and impactful programme design. Each project is anticipated to last for 3 months. Once your project is complete, we will support you in your next steps as a volunteer. This could include inviting you to apply to join the Programme Design Team on a long-term basis.
