Are you interested in working with us to eliminate homelessness in Worcestershire?
We’re seeking an innovative and passionate individual to join our Board of Trustees.
Who are Maggs?
Maggs’ overarching vision and purpose is to work with partners to eliminate long-term rough sleeping in the county, whilst offering homeless and vulnerable people opportunities to thrive and realise their full potential.
The charity began in 1985 through our Worcester Day Centre in Deansway. We have since acquired a second day centre in Malvern and a countywide outreach team that boasts two additional teams: Harm Reduction and an Intensive Transition Team.
We also have our Clothing Project and Accommodation Project, providing 15 housing opportunities for former rough sleepers.
Our goal is not just to support rough sleepers in their situation, but to help them to make the changes necessary for them to change their lifestyle, by dealing with the issues that hold them back, like lack of confidence, substance abuse, or poor health, so that they can access permanent housing and return to a conventional lifestyle off the streets.
The Role:
Our trustees play a vital role in ensuring that Maggs achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity, and Maggs has a clear strategy that aligns with our goals and vision.
Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable Maggs to grow and thrive, and through this, work with the homeless and vulnerable to raise self-confidence thereby enabling positive life change.
Board members have a collective responsibility, meaning that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.
Duties:
· Support and provide advice on Maggs’ purpose, vision, goals and activities.
· Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
· Oversee Maggs’ financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

· Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Maggs’ interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
· Contribute to the broader promotion of Maggs’ objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.
Please note that as a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

About Action for Carers Surrey
Action for Carers Surrey has a vision ‘that every unpaid carer in Surrey is heard, valued and supported.’ We are a dedicated, passionate charity determined to make a difference to young and adult carers across Surrey. We are looking for new trustees to join the board.
About the trustee role
Trusteeships are unpaid voluntary roles and are non-executive, meaning that they are collectively responsible for setting strategy and ensuring governance and that the organisation holds to their vision and mission. They do not carry out the day-to-day work of the charity and they currently meet four times a year.
The board work closely the CEO and Senior team and within this partnership, members of the board are encouraged to support and be a critical friend.
What we are looking for in a trustee
We want to keep the needs of carers at the heart of our decision making and for this reason whilst by no means essential, experience of looking after a family member or friend, either as a child or an adult, past or present, is positively considered.
It is important that our trustee board to be diverse in terms of professional backgrounds and experiences and also representative of communities that we serve within Surrey. We welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, sexuality, belief or disability.
Most importantly we are looking for board members who want to make a difference and are able to commit and contribute and be able to focus on what we want to achieve.
Training, including governance training will be provided. Whilst this is a voluntary role, reasonable expenses such as travel expenses are paid.
Trelya are looking for new people to join our existing Board of Trustees. At an exciting time
of development, we are looking for board members who can bring their knowledge, skills
and expertise to support the charity in its mission.
Trelya (the Cornish word for ‘change’), is an award-winning charity working to improve
mental health, wellbeing, and enable positive change in West Cornwall’s most under
resourced communities. Trelya tackles the structural inequalities and barriers which fuel
cycles of deprivation head on. We aim to equip children and families with the skills and
resources they need to break free and build positive, happy, healthy and fulfilling futures.
Learning from over 20 years of grass roots experience we ensure our organisational aims
are always led by the needs of our community. Our responses are innovative, tailored, and
deliver what is really needed to enable long term, sustainable difference. We aim to find
and build on often undiscovered inner strength and resilience. Every person is treated as an
individual, we unlock their core assets and use these to ignite hope, ambition and fulfilment.
We know from experience that the children, young people and families living in our
communities are unique and skilled individuals with incredible potential. Trelya creates
opportunities to fulfil that potential through provision of a nursery (rated ‘Outstanding’ by
Ofsted), an award-winning youth work programme and ‘Gul,’ our highly successful adult
employment and training programme.
Trelya aims to break the generational cycle of social and economic deprivation. We aim to
enable children and families facing the greatest challenges, barriers and difficulties to
develop the skills, knowledge, awareness, motivation and aspirations necessary to break
the cycle. As a trustee you will become part of a dynamic and committed team providing
strategic oversight to build positive, happy, healthy and fulfilling futures.
Trelya has been part of the Penzance community since 2001. We are an ambitious and
forward thinking organisation with clear aims and objectives. We’re looking to recruit new
trustees, who have skills and experience in Finance (including VAT/ Procurement);
IT/Administration; Buildings Management; Charity Governance; Public Relations/Digital
Media who can help us to achieve our aims over the coming years by bringing enthusiasm,
personal experience and imagination.
We are looking for trustees with a commitment to the mission of Trelya, who can work well
in a small team of trustees, with good judgement, diplomacy, the ability to think strategically
and communicate effectively. We wish to strengthen and diversify our Board and extend
representation within Trelya to ensure that the board has insight from a range of
communities. We welcome applications from anyone, regardless of their age, disability,
ethnicity, heritage, sexuality, gender and socio-economic background. Trelya has a board
of up to 12 trustees.
